Joshua 5:10 בָּעֶ֖רֶב On the evening bā·‘e·reḇ בְּאַרְבָּעָה֩ of the fourteenth bə·’ar·bā·‘āh עָשָׂ֨ר . . . ‘ā·śār י֥וֹם day yō·wm לַחֹ֛דֶשׁ of the month , la·ḥō·ḏeš בְנֵֽי־ while the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּחֲנ֥וּ were camped way·ya·ḥă·nū בַּגִּלְגָּ֑ל at Gilgal bag·gil·gāl בְּעַֽרְב֥וֹת on the plains bə·‘ar·ḇō·wṯ יְרִיחֽוֹ׃ of Jericho , yə·rî·ḥōw וַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּ they kept way·ya·‘ă·śū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַפֶּ֡סַח the Passover . hap·pe·saḥ Joshua 5:11 מִמָּֽחֳרַ֥ת The day after mim·mā·ḥo·raṯ הַפֶּ֖סַח the Passover , hap·pe·saḥ בְּעֶ֖צֶם on that very bə·‘e·ṣem הַיּ֥וֹם day , hay·yō·wm הַזֶּֽה׃ . . . haz·zeh וַיֹּ֨אכְל֜וּ they ate way·yō·ḵə·lū מַצּ֣וֹת unleavened bread maṣ·ṣō·wṯ וְקָל֑וּי and roasted grain wə·qā·lui מֵעֲב֥וּר from the produce mê·‘ă·ḇūr הָאָ֛רֶץ of the land . hā·’ā·reṣ Joshua 5:12 מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת And the day mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ בְּאָכְלָם֙ after they had eaten bə·’ā·ḵə·lām מֵעֲב֣וּר from the produce mê·‘ă·ḇūr הָאָ֔רֶץ of the land , hā·’ā·reṣ הַמָּ֜ן the manna ham·mān וַיִּשְׁבֹּ֨ת ceased . way·yiš·bōṯ הָ֥יָה There was hā·yāh וְלֹא־ no wə·lō- ע֛וֹד more ‘ō·wḏ מָ֑ן manna mān לִבְנֵ֥י for the Israelites liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . , yiś·rā·’êl הַהִֽיא׃ס so that ha·hî בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה year baš·šā·nāh וַיֹּאכְל֗וּ they began to eat way·yō·ḵə·lū מִתְּבוּאַת֙ the crops mit·tə·ḇū·’aṯ אֶ֣רֶץ of the land ’e·reṣ כְּנַ֔עַן of Canaan . kə·na·‘an Joshua 5:13 יְהוֹשֻׁעַ֮ Now when Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וַיְהִ֗י was way·hî בִּֽהְי֣וֹת . . . bih·yō·wṯ בִּירִיחוֹ֒ near Jericho , bî·rî·ḥōw וַיִּשָּׂ֤א he looked up way·yiś·śā עֵינָיו֙ . . . ‘ê·nāw וַיַּ֔רְא and saw way·yar וְהִנֵּה־ . . . wə·hin·nêh- אִישׁ֙ a man ’îš עֹמֵ֣ד standing ‘ō·mêḏ לְנֶגְדּ֔וֹ in front of him lə·neḡ·dōw שְׁלוּפָ֖ה with a drawn šə·lū·p̄āh וְחַרְבּ֥וֹ sword wə·ḥar·bōw בְּיָד֑וֹ in His hand . bə·yā·ḏōw יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ approached way·yê·leḵ אֵלָיו֙ Him ’ê·lāw וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and asked way·yō·mer ל֔וֹ , lōw אַתָּ֖ה “ Are You ’at·tāh הֲלָ֥נוּ for us hă·lā·nū אִם־ or ’im- לְצָרֵֽינוּ׃ for our enemies ? ” lə·ṣā·rê·nū Joshua 5:14 לֹ֗א “ Neither , ” lō כִּ֛י . . . kî וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ He replied . way·yō·mer אֲנִ֥י “ I ’ă·nî עַתָּ֣ה have now ‘at·tāh בָ֑אתִי come ḇā·ṯî שַׂר־ as Commander śar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH’s Yah·weh צְבָֽא־ army . ” ṣə·ḇā- יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ Then Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וַיִּפֹּל֩ fell way·yip·pōl אֶל־ facedown ’el- פָּנָ֥יו . . . pā·nāw אַ֙רְצָה֙ . . . ’ar·ṣāh וַיִּשְׁתָּ֔חוּ in reverence way·yiš·tā·ḥū וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and asked way·yō·mer ל֔וֹ Him , lōw מָ֥ה “ What māh אֲדֹנִ֖י does my Lord ’ă·ḏō·nî מְדַבֵּ֥ר have to say mə·ḏab·bêr
