הַיִּלֹּדִ֨ים born hay·yil·lō·ḏîm בַּמִּדְבָּ֥ר in the wilderness bam·miḏ·bār בַּדֶּ֛רֶךְ on the journey bad·de·reḵ בְּצֵאתָ֥ם vvv bə·ṣê·ṯām מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם from Egypt mim·miṣ·ra·yim מָֽלוּ׃ had been circumcised . mā·lū Joshua 5:6 כִּ֣י׀ For kî בְנֵֽי־ the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ . . . yiś·rā·’êl הָלְכ֣וּ had wandered hā·lə·ḵū בַּמִּדְבָּר֒ in the wilderness bam·miḏ·bār אַרְבָּעִ֣ים forty ’ar·bā·‘îm שָׁנָ֗ה years , šā·nāh עַד־ until ‘aḏ- כָּל־ all kāl- הַגּ֜וֹי the nation’s hag·gō·w אַנְשֵׁ֤י men ’an·šê הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ of war ham·mil·ḥā·māh הַיֹּצְאִ֣ים who had come out hay·yō·ṣə·’îm מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם of Egypt mim·miṣ·ra·yim תֹּ֨ם had died , tōm אֲשֶׁ֥ר since ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ they did not lō- שָׁמְע֖וּ obey šā·mə·‘ū בְּק֣וֹל . . . bə·qō·wl יְהוָ֑ה YHWH . Yah·weh אֲשֶׁ֨ר So ’ă·šer יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh לָהֶ֔ם lā·hem נִשְׁבַּ֤ע vowed niš·ba‘ לְבִלְתִּ֞י never lə·ḇil·tî הַרְאוֹתָ֣ם to let them see har·’ō·w·ṯām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֗רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר֩ - ’ă·šer יְהוָ֤ה He Yah·weh נִשְׁבַּ֨ע had sworn niš·ba‘ לַֽאֲבוֹתָם֙ to their fathers la·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām לָ֣תֶת to give lā·ṯeṯ לָ֔נוּ us , lā·nū אֶ֛רֶץ a land ’e·reṣ זָבַ֥ת flowing zā·ḇaṯ חָלָ֖ב with milk ḥā·lāḇ וּדְבָֽשׁ׃ and honey . ū·ḏə·ḇāš Joshua 5:7 וְאֶת־ And wə·’eṯ- יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ הֵקִ֣ים raised up hê·qîm בְּנֵיהֶם֙ their sons bə·nê·hem תַּחְתָּ֔ם in their place , taḥ·tām אֹתָ֖ם - ’ō·ṯām מָ֣ל and these were the ones he circumcised . māl הָי֔וּ [Until this time] they were hā·yū כִּ֛י . . . kî עֲרֵלִ֣ים still uncircumcised , ‘ă·rê·lîm כִּי־ since kî- לֹא־ they had not lō- מָ֥לוּ been circumcised mā·lū אוֹתָ֖ם - ’ō·w·ṯām בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ along the way . bad·dā·reḵ Joshua 5:8 וַיְהִ֛י And way·hî כַּאֲשֶׁר־ after ka·’ă·šer- תַּ֥מּוּ . . . tam·mū כָל־ all ḵāl הַגּ֖וֹי the nation hag·gō·w לְהִמּ֑וֹל had been circumcised , lə·him·mō·wl וַיֵּשְׁב֥וּ they stayed way·yê·šə·ḇū תַחְתָּ֛ם there ṯaḥ·tām בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה in the camp bam·ma·ḥă·neh עַ֥ד until ‘aḏ חֲיוֹתָֽם׃פ they were healed . ḥă·yō·w·ṯām Joshua 5:9 יְהוָה֙ Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ Joshua , yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ הַיּ֗וֹם “ Today hay·yō·wm גַּלּ֛וֹתִי I have rolled away gal·lō·w·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חֶרְפַּ֥ת the reproach ḥer·paṯ מִצְרַ֖יִם of Egypt miṣ·ra·yim מֵעֲלֵיכֶ֑ם from you . ” mê·‘ă·lê·ḵem הַהוּא֙ So that ha·hū הַמָּק֤וֹם place ham·mā·qō·wm וַיִּקְרָ֞א has been called way·yiq·rā שֵׁ֣ם . . . šêm גִּלְגָּ֔ל Gilgal gil·gāl עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּֽה׃ this haz·zeh הַיּ֥וֹם day . hay·yō·wm
