מִשְׁנֶה֙ was second miš·neh לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ only to King lam·me·leḵ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ Xerxes , ’ă·ḥaš·wê·rō·wōš וְגָדוֹל֙ preeminent wə·ḡā·ḏō·wl לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים among the Jews lay·yə·hū·ḏîm וְרָצ֖וּי and highly favored wə·rā·ṣui לְרֹ֣ב by his many lə·rōḇ אֶחָ֑יו kinsmen , ’e·ḥāw דֹּרֵ֥שׁ seeking dō·rêš טוֹב֙ the good ṭō·wḇ לְעַמּ֔וֹ of his people lə·‘am·mōw וְדֹבֵ֥ר and speaking wə·ḏō·ḇêr שָׁל֖וֹם peace šā·lō·wm לְכָל־ to all lə·ḵāl זַרְעֽוֹ׃ his countrymen . zar·‘ōw Job 1:1 הָיָ֥ה There was hā·yāh אִ֛ישׁ a man ’îš בְאֶֽרֶץ־ in the land ḇə·’e·reṣ- ע֖וּץ of Uz ‘ūṣ שְׁמ֑וֹ whose name [was] šə·mōw אִיּ֣וֹב Job . ’î·yō·wḇ הָאִ֣ישׁ And this man hā·’îš וְהָיָ֣ה׀ was wə·hā·yāh הַה֗וּא ha·hū תָּ֧ם blameless tām וְיָשָׁ֛ר and upright , wə·yā·šār וִירֵ֥א fearing wî·rê אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וְסָ֥ר and shunning wə·sār מֵרָֽע׃ evil . mê·rā‘ Job 1:2 וַיִּוָּ֥לְדוּ - way·yiw·wā·lə·ḏū ל֛וֹ lōw שִׁבְעָ֥ה He had seven šiḇ·‘āh בָנִ֖ים sons ḇā·nîm וְשָׁל֥וֹשׁ and three wə·šā·lō·wōš בָּנֽוֹת׃ daughters , bā·nō·wṯ Job 1:3 וַיְהִ֣י and he owned way·hî מִ֠קְנֵהוּ . . . miq·nê·hū שִֽׁבְעַ֨ת 7,000 {} šiḇ·‘aṯ אַלְפֵי־ . . . ’al·p̄ê- צֹ֜אן sheep , ṣōn וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת 3,000 {} ū·šə·lō·šeṯ אַלְפֵ֣י . . . ’al·p̄ê גְמַלִּ֗ים camels , ḡə·mal·lîm וַחֲמֵ֨שׁ 500 wa·ḥă·mêš מֵא֤וֹת . . . mê·’ō·wṯ צֶֽמֶד־ yoke ṣe·meḏ- בָּקָר֙ of oxen , bā·qār וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ 500 wa·ḥă·mêš מֵא֣וֹת . . . mê·’ō·wṯ אֲתוֹנ֔וֹת female donkeys , ’ă·ṯō·w·nō·wṯ מְאֹ֑ד and a very mə·’ōḏ וַיְהִי֙ . . . way·hî רַבָּ֣ה large number of rab·bāh וַעֲבֻדָּ֖ה servants . wa·‘ă·ḇud·dāh הַה֔וּא [Job was] the ha·hū גָּד֖וֹל greatest gā·ḏō·wl הָאִ֣ישׁ man hā·’îš מִכָּל־ of all mik·kāl בְּנֵי־ the people bə·nê- קֶֽדֶם׃ of the East . qe·ḏem Job 1:4 בָנָיו֙ [Job’s] sons ḇā·nāw וְהָלְכ֤וּ would take turns wə·hā·lə·ḵū וְעָשׂ֣וּ holding wə·‘ā·śū מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה feasts miš·teh בֵּ֖ית in their homes , bêṯ אִ֣ישׁ . . . ’îš יוֹמ֑וֹ . . . yō·w·mōw וְשָׁלְח֗וּ and they would invite wə·šā·lə·ḥū וְקָרְאוּ֙ . . . wə·qā·rə·’ū לִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת their three liš·lō·šeṯ אַחְיֹתֵיהֶם sisters ʾaḥ·yō·ṯē·hɛm לֶאֱכֹ֥ל to eat le·’ĕ·ḵōl וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת and drink wə·liš·tō·wṯ עִמָּהֶֽם׃ with them . ‘im·mā·hem Job 1:5 וַיְהִ֡י And way·hî כִּ֣י when kî יְמֵ֨י the days yə·mê הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֜ה of feasting ham·miš·teh הִקִּיפֽוּ֩ were over , hiq·qî·p̄ū אִיּ֣וֹב Job ’î·yō·wḇ וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח would send [for his children] way·yiš·laḥ וַֽיְקַדְּשֵׁ֗ם to purify them , way·qad·də·šêm וְהִשְׁכִּ֣ים rising early wə·hiš·kîm בַּבֹּקֶר֮ in the morning bab·bō·qer
