לָמַֽס׃ס a slave . lā·mas Lamentations 1:2 בָּכ֨וֹ She weeps bā·ḵōw תִבְכֶּ֜ה aloud ṯiḇ·keh בַּלַּ֗יְלָה in the night , bal·lay·lāh וְדִמְעָתָהּ֙ with tears wə·ḏim·‘ā·ṯāh עַ֣ל upon ‘al לֶֽחֱיָ֔הּ her cheeks . le·ḥĕ·yāh מִכָּל־ Among all mik·kāl אֹהֲבֶ֑יהָ her lovers ’ō·hă·ḇe·hā אֵֽין־ there is no one ’ên- לָ֥הּ lāh מְנַחֵ֖ם to comfort [her] . mə·na·ḥêm כָּל־ All kāl- רֵעֶ֙יהָ֙ her friends rê·‘e·hā בָּ֣גְדוּ have betrayed bā·ḡə·ḏū בָ֔הּ her ; ḇāh הָ֥יוּ they have become hā·yū לָ֖הּ her lāh לְאֹיְבִֽים׃ס enemies . lə·’ō·yə·ḇîm Lamentations 1:3 יְהוּדָ֤ה Judah yə·hū·ḏāh גָּֽלְתָ֨ה has gone into exile gā·lə·ṯāh מֵעֹ֙נִי֙ under affliction mê·‘ō·nî וּמֵרֹ֣ב and harsh ū·mê·rōḇ עֲבֹדָ֔ה slavery ; ‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh הִ֚יא she hî יָשְׁבָ֣ה dwells yā·šə·ḇāh בַגּוֹיִ֔ם among the nations ḇag·gō·w·yim מָצְאָ֖ה but finds mā·ṣə·’āh לֹ֥א no lō מָנ֑וֹחַ place to rest . mā·nō·w·aḥ כָּל־ All kāl- רֹדְפֶ֥יהָ her pursuers rō·ḏə·p̄e·hā הִשִּׂיג֖וּהָ have overtaken her hiś·śî·ḡū·hā בֵּ֥ין in the midst bên הַמְּצָרִֽים׃ס of her distress . ham·mə·ṣā·rîm Lamentations 1:4 דַּרְכֵ֨י The roads dar·ḵê צִיּ֜וֹן to Zion ṣî·yō·wn אֲבֵל֗וֹת mourn , ’ă·ḇê·lō·wṯ מִבְּלִי֙ because no one mib·bə·lî בָּאֵ֣י comes bā·’ê מוֹעֵ֔ד to her appointed feasts . mō·w·‘êḏ כָּל־ All kāl- שְׁעָרֶ֙יהָ֙ her gates šə·‘ā·re·hā שֽׁוֹמֵמִ֔ין are deserted ; šō·w·mê·mîn כֹּהֲנֶ֖יהָ her priests kō·hă·ne·hā נֶאֱנָחִ֑ים groan , ne·’ĕ·nā·ḥîm בְּתוּלֹתֶ֥יהָ her maidens bə·ṯū·lō·ṯe·hā נּוּג֖וֹת grieve , nū·ḡōṯ וְהִ֥יא and she herself wə·hî מַר־ is bitter with anguish mar- לָֽהּ׃ס . lāh Lamentations 1:5 צָרֶ֤יהָ Her foes ṣā·re·hā הָי֨וּ have become hā·yū לְרֹאשׁ֙ her masters ; lə·rōš אֹיְבֶ֣יהָ her enemies ’ō·yə·ḇe·hā שָׁל֔וּ are at ease . šā·lū כִּֽי־ For kî- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh הוֹגָ֖הּ has brought her grief hō·w·ḡāh עַ֣ל because of ‘al רֹב־ her many rōḇ- פְּשָׁעֶ֑יהָ transgressions . pə·šā·‘e·hā עוֹלָלֶ֛יהָ Her children ‘ō·w·lā·le·hā הָלְכ֥וּ have gone away hā·lə·ḵū שְׁבִ֖י as captives šə·ḇî לִפְנֵי־ before lip̄·nê- צָֽר׃ס the enemy . ṣār Lamentations 1:6 כָּל־ All kāl- הֲדָרָ֑הּ the splendor hă·ḏā·rāh וַיֵּצֵ֥א has departed way·yê·ṣê מִן־ from min- בַּת the Daughter baṯ צִיּ֖וֹן of Zion . ṣî·yō·wn שָׂרֶ֗יהָ Her princes śā·re·hā הָי֣וּ are hā·yū כְּאַיָּלִים֙ like deer kə·’ay·yā·lîm מָצְא֣וּ that find mā·ṣə·’ū לֹא־ no lō- מִרְעֶ֔ה pasture ; mir·‘eh בְלֹא־ they lack ḇə·lō- כֹ֖חַ the strength ḵō·aḥ וַיֵּלְכ֥וּ to flee way·yê·lə·ḵū לִפְנֵ֥י in the face of lip̄·nê רוֹדֵֽף׃ס the hunter . rō·w·ḏêp̄
