פִּ֗יךָ against your order pî·ḵā וְלֹֽא־ and does not wə·lō- יִשְׁמַ֧ע obey yiš·ma‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דְּבָרֶ֛יךָ your words , də·ḇā·re·ḵā לְכֹ֥ל all lə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- תְּצַוֶּ֖נּוּ you command him , tə·ṣaw·wen·nū יוּמָ֑ת will be put to death . yū·māṯ רַ֖ק Above all , raq חֲזַ֥ק be strong ḥă·zaq וֶאֱמָֽץ׃פ and courageous ! ” we·’ĕ·māṣ Joshua 2:1 יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ־ Then Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘- בִּן־ son bin- נ֠וּן of Nun nūn חֶ֣רֶשׁ secretly ḥe·reš וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח sent way·yiš·laḥ שְׁנַֽיִם־ two šə·na·yim- אֲנָשִׁ֤ים vvv ’ă·nā·šîm מְרַגְּלִים֙ spies mə·rag·gə·lîm מִֽן־ from min- הַשִּׁטִּ֞ים Shittim , haš·šiṭ·ṭîm לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr לְכ֛וּ “ Go , lə·ḵū רְא֥וּ inspect rə·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֖רֶץ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- יְרִיח֑וֹ especially Jericho . ” yə·rî·ḥōw וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ So they went way·yê·lə·ḵū וַ֠יָּבֹאוּ and entered way·yā·ḇō·’ū בֵּית־ the house bêṯ- אִשָּׁ֥ה vvv ’iš·šāh זוֹנָ֛ה of a prostitute zō·w·nāh וּשְׁמָ֥הּ named ū·šə·māh רָחָ֖ב Rahab rā·ḥāḇ וַיִּשְׁכְּבוּ־ and stayed way·yiš·kə·ḇū- שָֽׁמָּה׃ there . šām·māh Joshua 2:2 וַיֵּ֣אָמַ֔ר And it was reported way·yê·’ā·mar לְמֶ֥לֶךְ to the king lə·me·leḵ יְרִיח֖וֹ of Jericho yə·rî·ḥōw לֵאמֹ֑ר . . . : lê·mōr הִנֵּ֣ה “ Behold , hin·nêh אֲ֠נָשִׁים some men ’ă·nā·šîm מִבְּנֵ֥י vvv mib·bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl בָּ֣אוּ have come bā·’ū הֵ֧נָּה here hên·nāh הַלַּ֛יְלָה tonight hal·lay·lāh לַחְפֹּ֥ר to spy out laḥ·pōr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the land . ” hā·’ā·reṣ Joshua 2:3 מֶ֣לֶךְ So the king me·leḵ יְרִיח֔וֹ of Jericho yə·rî·ḥōw וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ sent way·yiš·laḥ אֶל־ to ’el- רָחָ֖ב Rahab rā·ḥāḇ לֵאמֹ֑ר and said , lê·mōr ה֠וֹצִיאִי “ Bring out hō·w·ṣî·’î הָאֲנָשִׁ֨ים the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm הַבָּאִ֤ים who came hab·bā·’îm אֵלַ֙יִךְ֙ to ’ê·la·yiḵ אֲשֶׁר־ you ’ă·šer- בָּ֣אוּ and entered bā·’ū לְבֵיתֵ֔ךְ your house , lə·ḇê·ṯêḵ כִּ֛י for kî בָּֽאוּ׃ they have come bā·’ū לַחְפֹּ֥ר to spy out laḥ·pōr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ the whole kāl- הָאָ֖רֶץ land . ” hā·’ā·reṣ Joshua 2:4 הָֽאִשָּׁ֛ה But the woman hā·’iš·šāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַתִּקַּ֧ח had taken wat·tiq·qaḥ שְׁנֵ֥י the two šə·nê הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים men hā·’ă·nā·šîm וַֽתִּצְפְּנ֑וֹ and hidden them . wat·tiṣ·pə·nōw וַתֹּ֣אמֶר׀ So she said , wat·tō·mer כֵּ֗ן “ Yes , kên הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm בָּ֤אוּ did come bā·’ū אֵלַי֙ to me , ’ê·lay וְלֹ֥א but I did not wə·lō יָדַ֖עְתִּי know yā·ḏa‘·tî מֵאַ֥יִן where mê·’a·yin הֵֽמָּה׃ they had come from . hêm·māh
