Genesis 24:6 אַבְרָהָ֑ם Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām וַיֹּ֥אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer אֵלָ֖יו . . . ’ê·lāw הִשָּׁ֣מֶר “ Make sure hiš·šā·mer לְךָ֔ lə·ḵā פֶּן־ that you do not pen- בְּנִ֖י take my son bə·nî תָּשִׁ֥יב back tā·šîḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שָֽׁמָּה׃ there . šām·māh Genesis 24:7 יְהוָ֣ה׀ YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם of heaven , haš·šā·ma·yim אֲשֶׁ֨ר who ’ă·šer לְקָחַ֜נִי brought me lə·qā·ḥa·nî אָבִי֮ from my father’s ’ā·ḇî מִבֵּ֣ית house mib·bêṯ מֽוֹלַדְתִּי֒ and my native mō·w·laḏ·tî וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ land , ū·mê·’e·reṣ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר who wa·’ă·šer דִּבֶּר־ spoke dib·ber- לִ֜י to me lî וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר and wa·’ă·šer נִֽשְׁבַּֽע־ promised me on oath niš·ba‘- לִי֙ . . . , lî לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr לְזַ֨רְעֲךָ֔ ‘ To your offspring lə·zar·‘ă·ḵā אֶתֵּ֖ן I will give ’et·tên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֹּ֑את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֣רֶץ land ’— hā·’ā·reṣ ה֗וּא He hū יִשְׁלַ֤ח will send yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכוֹ֙ His angel mal·’ā·ḵōw לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before you lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ so that you can take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā אִשָּׁ֛ה a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִ֖י for my son liḇ·nî מִשָּֽׁם׃ from there . miš·šām Genesis 24:8 וְאִם־ And if wə·’im- הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ the woman hā·’iš·šāh לֹ֨א is unwilling lō תֹאבֶ֤ה . . . ṯō·ḇeh לָלֶ֣כֶת to follow lā·le·ḵeṯ אַחֲרֶ֔יךָ you , ’a·ḥă·re·ḵā וְנִקִּ֕יתָ then you are released wə·niq·qî·ṯā זֹ֑את from this zōṯ מִשְּׁבֻעָתִ֖י oath of mine . miš·šə·ḇu·‘ā·ṯî רַ֣ק Only raq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לֹ֥א do not lō תָשֵׁ֖ב take ṯā·šêḇ בְּנִ֔י my son bə·nî שָֽׁמָּה׃ back there . ” šām·māh Genesis 24:9 הָעֶ֙בֶד֙ So the servant hā·‘e·ḇeḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּ֤שֶׂם placed way·yā·śem יָד֔וֹ his hand yā·ḏōw תַּ֛חַת under ta·ḥaṯ יֶ֥רֶךְ the thigh ye·reḵ אֲדֹנָ֑יו of his master ’ă·ḏō·nāw אַבְרָהָ֖ם Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām וַיִּשָּׁ֣בַֽע and swore an oath way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ ל֔וֹ to him lōw עַל־ concerning ‘al- הַזֶּֽה׃ this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֖ר matter . had·dā·ḇār Genesis 24:10 הָ֠עֶבֶד Then the servant hā·‘e·ḇeḏ וַיִּקַּ֣ח took way·yiq·qaḥ עֲשָׂרָ֨ה ten ‘ă·śā·rāh אֲדֹנָיו֙ of his master’s ’ă·ḏō·nāw גְמַלִּ֜ים camels ḡə·mal·lîm מִגְּמַלֵּ֤י . . . mig·gə·mal·lê וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ and departed way·yê·leḵ וְכָל־ with all manner wə·ḵāl ט֥וּב of good things ṭūḇ אֲדֹנָ֖יו from his master ’ă·ḏō·nāw בְּיָד֑וֹ in hand . bə·yā·ḏōw וַיָּ֗קָם And he set out way·yā·qām וַיֵּ֛לֶךְ . . . way·yê·leḵ אֶל־ for ’el- אֶל־ - ’el- נָחֽוֹר׃ Nahor’s nā·ḥō·wr עִ֥יר hometown ‘îr אֲרַ֥ם vvv ’ă·ram
