Genesis 23:20 הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה So the field haś·śā·ḏeh אֲשֶׁר־ and its ’ă·šer- בּ֛וֹ bōw וְהַמְּעָרָ֧ה cave wə·ham·mə·‘ā·rāh וַיָּ֨קָם were deeded way·yā·qām בְּנֵי־ by the Hittites bə·nê- חֵֽת׃ס . . . ḥêṯ לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם to Abraham lə·’aḇ·rā·hām קָ֑בֶר as a burial qā·ḇer מֵאֵ֖ת . . . mê·’êṯ לַאֲחֻזַּת־ site . la·’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ- Genesis 24:1 וְאַבְרָהָ֣ם By now Abraham wə·’aḇ·rā·hām זָקֵ֔ן was old zā·qên בָּ֖א and well along bā בַּיָּמִ֑ים in years , bay·yā·mîm וַֽיהוָ֛ה and YHWH Yah·weh בֵּרַ֥ךְ had blessed bê·raḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַבְרָהָ֖ם him ’aḇ·rā·hām בַּכֹּֽל׃ in every way . bak·kōl Genesis 24:2 אַבְרָהָ֗ם So Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām וַיֹּ֣אמֶר instructed way·yō·mer אֶל־ . . . ’el- זְקַ֣ן the chief zə·qan עַבְדּוֹ֙ servant ‘aḇ·dōw בֵּית֔וֹ of his household , bê·ṯōw הַמֹּשֵׁ֖ל who managed ham·mō·šêl בְּכָל־ all he owned bə·ḵāl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- ל֑וֹ , lōw שִֽׂים־ “ Place śîm- נָ֥א . . . nā יָדְךָ֖ your hand yā·ḏə·ḵā תַּ֥חַת under ta·ḥaṯ יְרֵכִֽי׃ my thigh , yə·rê·ḵî Genesis 24:3 וְאַשְׁבִּ֣יעֲךָ֔ and I will have you swear wə·’aš·bî·‘ă·ḵā בַּֽיהוָה֙ by YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם of heaven haš·šā·ma·yim וֵֽאלֹהֵ֖י and the God wê·lō·hê הָאָ֑רֶץ of earth , hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ you will not lō- תִקַּ֤ח take ṯiq·qaḥ אִשָּׁה֙ a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִ֔י for my son liḇ·nî מִבְּנוֹת֙ from the daughters mib·bə·nō·wṯ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י of the Canaanites hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃ among bə·qir·bōw אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom ’ă·šer אָנֹכִ֖י I ’ā·nō·ḵî יוֹשֵׁ֥ב am dwelling , yō·wō·šêḇ Genesis 24:4 כִּ֧י but kî תֵּלֵ֑ךְ will go tê·lêḵ אֶל־ to ’el- אַרְצִ֛י my country ’ar·ṣî וְאֶל־ and wə·’el- מוֹלַדְתִּ֖י my kindred mō·w·laḏ·tî וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ to take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā אִשָּׁ֖ה a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִ֥י for my son liḇ·nî לְיִצְחָֽק׃ Isaac . ” lə·yiṣ·ḥāq Genesis 24:5 הָעֶ֔בֶד The servant hā·‘e·ḇeḏ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר asked way·yō·mer אֵלָיו֙ him , ’ê·lāw אוּלַי֙ “ What if ’ū·lay הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה the woman hā·’iš·šāh לֹא־ is unwilling lō- תֹאבֶ֣ה . . . ṯō·ḇeh לָלֶ֥כֶת to follow me lā·le·ḵeṯ אַחֲרַ֖י . . . ’a·ḥă·ray אֶל־ to ’el- הַזֹּ֑את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֣רֶץ land ? hā·’ā·reṣ הֶֽהָשֵׁ֤ב Shall I then take your son back he·hā·šêḇ בִּנְךָ֔ . . . bin·ḵā אָשִׁיב֙ . . . ’ā·šîḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֶל־ to ’el- הָאָ֖רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ מִשָּֽׁם׃ from miš·šām אֲשֶׁר־ which ’ă·šer- יָצָ֥אתָ you came ? ” yā·ṣā·ṯā
