הָיִ֥יתָ you lived hā·yî·ṯā גֵ֖ר as a foreigner ḡêr בְאַרְצֽוֹ׃ in his land . ḇə·’ar·ṣōw Deuteronomy 23:8 שְׁלִישִׁ֑י The third šə·lî·šî דּ֣וֹר generation dō·wr בָּנִ֛ים of children bā·nîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- יִוָּלְד֥וּ born yiw·wā·lə·ḏū לָהֶ֖ם to them lā·hem יָבֹ֥א may enter yā·ḇō לָהֶ֖ם lā·hem בִּקְהַ֥ל the assembly biq·hal יְהוָֽה׃ס of YHWH . Yah·weh Deuteronomy 23:9 כִּֽי־ When kî- תֵצֵ֥א you are encamped ṯê·ṣê מַחֲנֶ֖ה . . . ma·ḥă·neh עַל־ against ‘al- אֹיְבֶ֑יךָ your enemies , ’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā וְנִ֨שְׁמַרְתָּ֔ then you shall keep yourself wə·niš·mar·tā מִכֹּ֖ל from every mik·kōl רָֽע׃ wicked rā‘ דָּבָ֥ר thing . dā·ḇār Deuteronomy 23:10 כִּֽי־ If kî- יִהְיֶ֤ה - yih·yeh אִ֔ישׁ any man ’îš בְךָ֙ among you ḇə·ḵā אֲשֶׁ֛ר - ’ă·šer יִהְיֶ֥ה becomes yih·yeh לֹא־ vvv lō- טָה֖וֹר unclean ṭā·hō·wr לָ֑יְלָה because of a nocturnal lā·yə·lāh מִקְּרֵה־ emission , miq·qə·rêh- וְיָצָא֙ he must leave wə·yā·ṣā אֶל־ ’el- לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה the camp lam·ma·ḥă·neh לֹ֥א - lō יָבֹ֖א [and] stay yā·ḇō מִח֣וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ אֶל־ . . . ’el- תּ֥וֹךְ - tō·wḵ הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ - . ham·ma·ḥă·neh Deuteronomy 23:11 וְהָיָ֥ה - wə·hā·yāh עֶ֖רֶב When evening ‘e·reḇ לִפְנֽוֹת־ approaches , lip̄·nō·wṯ- יִרְחַ֣ץ he must wash yir·ḥaṣ בַּמָּ֑יִם with water , bam·mā·yim הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ and when the sun haš·še·meš וּכְבֹ֣א sets ū·ḵə·ḇō יָבֹ֖א he may return yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- תּ֥וֹךְ . . . tō·wḵ הַֽמַּחֲנֶה׃ the camp . ham·ma·ḥă·nɛh Deuteronomy 23:12 תִּהְיֶ֣ה You must have tih·yeh לְךָ֔ lə·ḵā וְיָד֙ a place wə·yāḏ מִח֖וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה the camp lam·ma·ḥă·neh וְיָצָ֥אתָ to go wə·yā·ṣā·ṯā שָׁ֖מָּה [and] relieve yourself šām·māh חֽוּץ׃ . . . . ḥūṣ Deuteronomy 23:13 תִּהְיֶ֥ה And you must have tih·yeh לְךָ֖ lə·ḵā וְיָתֵ֛ד a digging tool wə·yā·ṯêḏ עַל־ in ‘al- אֲזֵנֶ֑ךָ your equipment ’ă·zê·ne·ḵā וְהָיָה֙ so that wə·hā·yāh בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ֣ when you relieve yourself bə·šiḇ·tə·ḵā ח֔וּץ . . . ḥūṣ וְחָפַרְתָּ֣ה you can dig a hole wə·ḥā·p̄ar·tāh בָ֔הּ ḇāh וְשַׁבְתָּ֖ - wə·šaḇ·tā וְכִסִּ֥יתָ and cover up wə·ḵis·sî·ṯā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צֵאָתֶֽךָ׃ your excrement . ṣê·’ā·ṯe·ḵā Deuteronomy 23:14 כִּי֩ For kî יְהוָ֨ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā מִתְהַלֵּ֣ךְ׀ walks miṯ·hal·lêḵ בְּקֶ֣רֶב throughout bə·qe·reḇ
