וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ So you must purge ū·ḇi·‘ar·tā הָרָ֖ע the evil hā·rā‘ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ from among you , miq·qir·be·ḵā וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl יִשְׁמְע֥וּ will hear yiš·mə·‘ū וְיִרָֽאוּ׃ס and be afraid . wə·yi·rā·’ū Deuteronomy 21:22 וְכִֽי־ If wə·ḵî- בְאִ֗ישׁ a man ḇə·’îš יִהְיֶ֣ה has committed yih·yeh חֵ֛טְא a sin ḥêṭ מִשְׁפַּט־ worthy miš·paṭ- מָ֖וֶת of death , mā·weṯ וְהוּמָ֑ת and he is executed , wə·hū·māṯ וְתָלִ֥יתָ and you hang wə·ṯā·lî·ṯā אֹת֖וֹ his body ’ō·ṯōw עַל־ on ‘al- עֵֽץ׃ a tree , ‘êṣ Deuteronomy 21:23 לֹא־ you must not leave lō- נִבְלָת֜וֹ the body niḇ·lā·ṯōw עַל־ on ‘al- הָעֵ֗ץ the tree hā·‘êṣ תָלִ֨ין overnight , ṯā·lîn כִּֽי־ but kî- קָב֤וֹר you must be sure to bury qā·ḇō·wr תִּקְבְּרֶ֙נּוּ֙ . . . tiq·bə·ren·nū הַה֔וּא him ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם that day , bay·yō·wm כִּֽי־ because kî- תָּל֑וּי anyone who is hung [on a tree] tā·lui אֱלֹהִ֖ים is under God’s ’ĕ·lō·hîm קִלְלַ֥ת curse . qil·laṯ וְלֹ֤א You must not wə·lō תְטַמֵּא֙ defile ṯə·ṭam·mê אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַדְמָ֣תְךָ֔ the land ’aḏ·mā·ṯə·ḵā אֲשֶׁר֙ that ’ă·šer יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā נֹתֵ֥ן is giving nō·ṯên לְךָ֖ you lə·ḵā נַחֲלָֽה׃ס as an inheritance . na·ḥă·lāh Deuteronomy 22:1 תִרְאֶה֩ If you see ṯir·’eh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אָחִ֜יךָ your brother’s ’ā·ḥî·ḵā שׁ֨וֹר ox šō·wr א֤וֹ or ’ōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שֵׂיוֹ֙ sheep śê·yōw נִדָּחִ֔ים straying , nid·dā·ḥîm לֹֽא־ you must not lō- וְהִתְעַלַּמְתָּ֖ ignore it ; wə·hiṯ·‘al·lam·tā מֵהֶ֑ם . . . mê·hem הָשֵׁ֥ב be sure to return it hā·šêḇ תְּשִׁיבֵ֖ם . . . tə·šî·ḇêm לְאָחִֽיךָ׃ to your brother . lə·’ā·ḥî·ḵā Deuteronomy 22:2 וְאִם־ If wə·’im- אָחִ֛יךָ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā לֹ֨א does not lō קָר֥וֹב live near you , qā·rō·wḇ וְלֹ֣א or if you do not wə·lō יְדַעְתּ֑וֹ know who he is , yə·ḏa‘·tōw וַאֲסַפְתּוֹ֙ you are to take wa·’ă·sap̄·tōw אֶל־ . . . ’el- אֵלֶ֖יךָ the animal ’ê·le·ḵā תּ֣וֹךְ . . . tō·wḵ בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ home bê·ṯe·ḵā וְהָיָ֣ה to remain wə·hā·yāh עִמְּךָ֗ with you ‘im·mə·ḵā עַ֣ד until ‘aḏ אָחִ֙יךָ֙ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā אֹת֔וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw דְּרֹ֤שׁ comes seeking it ; də·rōš וַהֲשֵׁבֹת֖וֹ then you can return it wa·hă·šê·ḇō·ṯōw לֽוֹ׃ to him . lōw Deuteronomy 22:3 תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה And you shall do ta·‘ă·śeh וְכֵ֧ן the same wə·ḵên לַחֲמֹר֗וֹ for his donkey , la·ḥă·mō·rōw וְכֵ֣ן . . . wə·ḵên תַּעֲשֶׂה֮ . . . ta·‘ă·śeh לְשִׂמְלָתוֹ֒ his cloak , lə·śim·lā·ṯōw וְכֵ֣ן . . . wə·ḵên תַּעֲשֶׂ֜ה . . . ta·‘ă·śeh לְכָל־ or anything lə·ḵāl אָחִ֛יךָ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā
