שִׁבְיֽוֹ׃ captive , šiḇ·yōw Deuteronomy 21:11 וְרָאִיתָ֙ if you see wə·rā·’î·ṯā יְפַת־ a beautiful yə·p̄aṯ- תֹּ֑אַר . . . tō·’ar אֵ֖שֶׁת woman ’ê·šeṯ בַּשִּׁבְיָ֔ה among [them] , baš·šiḇ·yāh וְחָשַׁקְתָּ֣ and you desire wə·ḥā·šaq·tā בָ֔הּ her ḇāh וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ and want to take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā לְךָ֖ her lə·ḵā לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ as your wife , lə·’iš·šāh Deuteronomy 21:12 וַהֲבֵאתָ֖הּ then you shall bring her wa·hă·ḇê·ṯāh אֶל־ into ’el- תּ֣וֹךְ . . . tō·wḵ בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ your house . bê·ṯe·ḵā וְגִלְּחָה֙ She must shave wə·ḡil·lə·ḥāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רֹאשָׁ֔הּ her head , rō·šāh וְעָשְׂתָ֖ה trim wə·‘ā·śə·ṯāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צִפָּרְנֶֽיהָ׃ her nails , ṣip·pā·rə·ne·hā Deuteronomy 21:13 וְהֵסִ֩ירָה֩ and put aside wə·hê·sî·rāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שִׂמְלַ֨ת the clothing śim·laṯ שִׁבְיָ֜הּ of her captivity . šiḇ·yāh מֵעָלֶ֗יהָ mê·‘ā·le·hā וְאַ֨חַר After wə·’a·ḥar כֵּ֜ן kên וְיָֽשְׁבָה֙ she has lived wə·yā·šə·ḇāh בְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָ in your house bə·ḇê·ṯe·ḵā יֶ֣רַח a full month ye·raḥ יָמִ֑ים . . . yā·mîm וּבָֽכְתָ֛ה and mourned ū·ḇā·ḵə·ṯāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אָבִ֥יהָ her father ’ā·ḇî·hā וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- אִמָּ֖הּ and mother , ’im·māh תָּב֤וֹא you may have relations with tā·ḇō·w אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ her ’ê·le·hā וּבְעַלְתָּ֔הּ and be her husband , ū·ḇə·‘al·tāh וְהָיְתָ֥ה and she shall be wə·hā·yə·ṯāh לְךָ֖ lə·ḵā לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ your wife . lə·’iš·šāh Deuteronomy 21:14 וְהָיָ֞ה And wə·hā·yāh אִם־ if ’im- לֹ֧א you are not lō חָפַ֣צְתָּ pleased ḥā·p̄aṣ·tā בָּ֗הּ with her , bāh וְשִׁלַּחְתָּהּ֙ you are to let her go wə·šil·laḥ·tāh לְנַפְשָׁ֔הּ wherever she wishes . lə·nap̄·šāh לֹא־ But you must not lō- וּמָכֹ֥ר sell her ū·mā·ḵōr תִמְכְּרֶ֖נָּה . . . ṯim·kə·ren·nāh בַּכָּ֑סֶף for money bak·kā·sep̄ לֹא־ . . . lō- תִתְעַמֵּ֣ר or treat her as a slave ṯiṯ·‘am·mêr בָּ֔הּ , bāh תַּ֖חַת since ta·ḥaṯ אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer עִנִּיתָֽהּ׃ס you have dishonored her . ‘in·nî·ṯāh Deuteronomy 21:15 כִּֽי־ If kî- לְאִ֜ישׁ a man lə·’îš תִהְיֶ֨יןָ has ṯih·ye·nā שְׁתֵּ֣י two šə·tê נָשִׁ֗ים wives , nā·šîm הָאַחַ֤ת one hā·’a·ḥaṯ אֲהוּבָה֙ beloved ’ă·hū·ḇāh וְהָאַחַ֣ת and the other wə·hā·’a·ḥaṯ שְׂנוּאָ֔ה unloved , śə·nū·’āh הָאֲהוּבָ֖ה and [both] hā·’ă·hū·ḇāh וְהַשְּׂנוּאָ֑ה . . . wə·haś·śə·nū·’āh וְיָֽלְדוּ־ bear wə·yā·lə·ḏū- ל֣וֹ him lōw בָנִ֔ים sons , ḇā·nîm לַשְּׂנִיאָֽה׃ but the unloved laś·śə·nî·’āh וְהָיָ֛ה wife has wə·hā·yāh הַבְּכ֖וֹר the firstborn hab·bə·ḵō·wr הַבֵּ֥ן son , hab·bên Deuteronomy 21:16 וְהָיָ֗ה wə·hā·yāh בְּיוֹם֙ when bə·yō·wm אֲשֶׁר־ that man ’ă·šer- יִהְיֶ֖ה . . . yih·yeh
