תֹּאבֵדֽוּן׃ perish . tō·ḇê·ḏūn Deuteronomy 8:20 כַּגּוֹיִ֗ם Like the nations kag·gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ’ă·šer יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh מַאֲבִ֣יד has destroyed ma·’ă·ḇîḏ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם before you , mip·pə·nê·ḵem כֵּ֖ן so kên תֹאבֵד֑וּן you will perish ṯō·ḇê·ḏūn עֵ֚קֶב . . . ‘ê·qeḇ לֹ֣א if you do not lō תִשְׁמְע֔וּן obey ṯiš·mə·‘ūn בְּק֖וֹל . . . bə·qō·wl יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃פ your God . ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem Deuteronomy 9:1 שְׁמַ֣ע Hear , šə·ma‘ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל O Israel : yiś·rā·’êl הַיּוֹם֙ Today hay·yō·wm אַתָּ֨ה you ’at·tāh עֹבֵ֤ר are about to cross ‘ō·ḇêr הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן the Jordan hay·yar·dên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לָבֹא֙ to go in lā·ḇō לָרֶ֣שֶׁת and dispossess lā·re·šeṯ גּוֹיִ֔ם nations gō·w·yim גְּדֹלִ֥ים greater gə·ḏō·lîm וַעֲצֻמִ֖ים and stronger wa·‘ă·ṣu·mîm מִמֶּ֑ךָּ than you , mim·me·kā גְּדֹלֹ֥ת with large gə·ḏō·lōṯ עָרִ֛ים cities ‘ā·rîm וּבְצֻרֹ֖ת fortified ū·ḇə·ṣu·rōṯ בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ to the heavens . baš·šā·mā·yim Deuteronomy 9:2 עַֽם־ The people ‘am- גָּד֥וֹל are strong gā·ḏō·wl וָרָ֖ם and tall , wā·rām בְּנֵ֣י the descendants bə·nê עֲנָקִ֑ים of the Anakim . ‘ă·nā·qîm אַתָּ֤ה You ’at·tāh יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ know yā·ḏa‘·tā אֲשֶׁ֨ר about them , ’ă·šer וְאַתָּ֣ה and you wə·’at·tāh שָׁמַ֔עְתָּ have heard it said , šā·ma‘·tā מִ֣י “ Who mî יִתְיַצֵּ֔ב can stand up yiṯ·yaṣ·ṣêḇ לִפְנֵ֖י to lip̄·nê בְּנֵ֥י the sons bə·nê עֲנָֽק׃ of Anak ? ” ‘ă·nāq Deuteronomy 9:3 וְיָדַעְתָּ֣ But understand wə·yā·ḏa‘·tā כִּי֩ that kî הַיּ֗וֹם today hay·yō·wm יְהוָ֨ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā הֽוּא־ - hū- הָעֹבֵ֤ר goes across hā·‘ō·ḇêr לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ ahead of you lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā אֹֽכְלָ֔ה as a consuming ’ō·ḵə·lāh ה֧וּא . . . hū אֵ֣שׁ fire ; ’êš יַשְׁמִידֵ֛ם He will destroy them yaš·mî·ḏêm וְה֥וּא . . . wə·hū יַכְנִיעֵ֖ם and subdue them yaḵ·nî·‘êm לְפָנֶ֑יךָ before you . lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā וְהֽוֹרַשְׁתָּ֤ם And you will drive them out wə·hō·w·raš·tām וְהַֽאַבַדְתָּם֙ and annihilate them wə·ha·ʾa·ḇaḏ·tå̄m מַהֵ֔ר swiftly , ma·hêr כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֥ר has promised dib·ber לָֽךְ׃ you . lāḵ Deuteronomy 9:4 יְהוָה֩ When YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā אֹתָ֥ם׀ - ’ō·ṯām בַּהֲדֹ֣ף has driven them out ba·hă·ḏōp̄ מִלְּפָנֶיךָ֮ before you , mil·lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā לֵאמֹר֒ . . . lê·mōr אַל־ do not ’al- תֹּאמַ֣ר say tō·mar בִּלְבָבְךָ֗ in your heart , bil·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā בְּצִדְקָתִי֙ “ Because of my righteousness bə·ṣiḏ·qā·ṯî יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh הֱבִיאַ֣נִי has brought me in hĕ·ḇî·’a·nî לָרֶ֖שֶׁת to possess lā·re·šeṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֹּ֑את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֣רֶץ land . ” hā·’ā·reṣ יְהוָ֖ה Rather, YHWH Yah·weh
