Genesis 21:8 הַיֶּ֖לֶד So the child hay·ye·leḏ וַיִּגְדַּ֥ל grew way·yiḡ·dal וַיִּגָּמַ֑ל and was weaned , way·yig·gā·mal אַבְרָהָם֙ and Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām וַיַּ֤עַשׂ held way·ya·‘aś גָד֔וֹל a great ḡā·ḏō·wl מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה feast miš·teh בְּי֖וֹם on the day bə·yō·wm יִצְחָֽק׃ Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq הִגָּמֵ֥ל was weaned . hig·gā·mêl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- Genesis 21:9 שָׂרָ֜ה But Sarah śā·rāh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- וַתֵּ֨רֶא saw that wat·tê·re בֶּן־ the son ben- אֲשֶׁר־ whom ’ă·šer- הָגָ֧ר Hagar hā·ḡār הַמִּצְרִ֛ית the Egyptian ham·miṣ·rîṯ יָלְדָ֥ה had borne yā·lə·ḏāh לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם to Abraham lə·’aḇ·rā·hām מְצַחֵֽק׃ was mocking [her son] , mə·ṣa·ḥêq Genesis 21:10 וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and she said wat·tō·mer לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם to Abraham , lə·’aḇ·rā·hām גָּרֵ֛שׁ “ Expel gā·rêš הַזֹּ֖את the haz·zōṯ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָאָמָ֥ה slave woman hā·’ā·māh בְּנָ֑הּ and her son , bə·nāh כִּ֣י for kî הָאָמָ֣ה the slave woman’s hā·’ā·māh הַזֹּ֔את . . . haz·zōṯ בֶּן־ son ben- לֹ֤א will never lō יִירַשׁ֙ share in the inheritance yî·raš עִם־ with ‘im- בְּנִ֖י my son bə·nî עִם־ . . . ‘im- יִצְחָֽק׃ Isaac ! ” yiṣ·ḥāq Genesis 21:11 הַדָּבָ֛ר Now this matter had·dā·ḇār וַיֵּ֧רַע distressed way·yê·ra‘ בְּעֵינֵ֣י . . . bə·‘ê·nê אַבְרָהָ֑ם Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām מְאֹ֖ד greatly mə·’ōḏ עַ֖ל vvv ‘al אוֹדֹ֥ת because it concerned ’ō·w·ḏōṯ בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son [Ishmael] . bə·nōw Genesis 21:12 אֱלֹהִ֜ים But God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- אַבְרָהָ֗ם Abraham , ’aḇ·rā·hām אַל־ “ Do not ’al- יֵרַ֤ע be distressed yê·ra‘ בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ . . . bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā עַל־ about ‘al- הַנַּ֣עַר the boy han·na·‘ar וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ and your maidservant . ’ă·mā·ṯe·ḵā שְׁמַ֣ע Listen to šə·ma‘ בְּקֹלָ֑הּ . . . bə·qō·lāh כֹּל֩ everything kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer שָׂרָ֖ה Sarah śā·rāh תֹּאמַ֥ר tells tō·mar אֵלֶ֛יךָ you , ’ê·le·ḵā כִּ֣י for kî בְיִצְחָ֔ק through Isaac ḇə·yiṣ·ḥāq לְךָ֖ your lə·ḵā זָֽרַע׃ offspring zā·ra‘ יִקָּרֵ֥א will be reckoned . yiq·qā·rê Genesis 21:13 וְגַ֥ם But I will also wə·ḡam אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ make ’ă·śî·men·nū לְג֣וֹי a nation lə·ḡō·w הָאָמָ֖ה of the slave woman’s hā·’ā·māh בֶּן־ son , ben- כִּ֥י because kî הֽוּא׃ he hū זַרְעֲךָ֖ is your offspring . ” zar·‘ă·ḵā Genesis 21:14 בַּבֹּ֡קֶר Early in the morning , bab·bō·qer אַבְרָהָ֣ם׀ Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֣ם got up , way·yaš·kêm
