גוֹיִ֔ם nations ḡō·w·yim רַבִּ֥ים larger rab·bîm וַעֲצוּמִ֖ים and stronger wa·‘ă·ṣū·mîm מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ than you — mim·me·kā Deuteronomy 7:2 יְהוָ֧ה and when YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā וּנְתָנָ֞ם has delivered them over ū·nə·ṯā·nām לְפָנֶ֖יךָ to you lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā וְהִכִּיתָ֑ם to defeat them , wə·hik·kî·ṯām הַחֲרֵ֤ם then you must devote them to complete destruction ha·ḥă·rêm תַּחֲרִים֙ . . . ta·ḥă·rîm אֹתָ֔ם - . ’ō·ṯām תִכְרֹ֥ת Make ṯiḵ·rōṯ לֹא־ no lō- בְּרִ֖ית treaty bə·rîṯ לָהֶ֛ם with them lā·hem וְלֹ֥א and show them no wə·lō תְחָנֵּֽם׃ mercy . ṯə·ḥān·nêm Deuteronomy 7:3 וְלֹ֥א Do not wə·lō תִתְחַתֵּ֖ן intermarry ṯiṯ·ḥat·tên בָּ֑ם with them . bām לֹא־ Do not lō- תִתֵּ֣ן give ṯit·tên בִּתְּךָ֙ your daughters bit·tə·ḵā לִבְנ֔וֹ to their sons liḇ·nōw לֹא־ or lō- תִקַּ֥ח take ṯiq·qaḥ וּבִתּ֖וֹ their daughters ū·ḇit·tōw לִבְנֶֽךָ׃ for your sons , liḇ·ne·ḵā Deuteronomy 7:4 כִּֽי־ because kî- בִּנְךָ֙ they will turn your sons bin·ḵā יָסִ֤יר away yā·sîr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מֵֽאַחֲרַ֔י from following Me mê·’a·ḥă·ray וְעָבְד֖וּ to serve wə·‘ā·ḇə·ḏū אֲחֵרִ֑ים other ’ă·ḥê·rîm אֱלֹהִ֣ים gods . ’ĕ·lō·hîm אַף־ Then the anger ’ap̄- יְהוָה֙ of YHWH Yah·weh וְחָרָ֤ה will burn wə·ḥā·rāh בָּכֶ֔ם against you , bā·ḵem מַהֵֽר׃ and He will swiftly ma·hêr וְהִשְׁמִידְךָ֖ destroy you . wə·hiš·mî·ḏə·ḵā Deuteronomy 7:5 כִּֽי־ Instead kî- אִם־ . . . , ’im- כֹּ֤ה this is what kōh תַעֲשׂוּ֙ you are to do to them : ṯa·‘ă·śū לָהֶ֔ם . . . lā·hem תִּתֹּ֔צוּ tear down tit·tō·ṣū מִזְבְּחֹתֵיהֶ֣ם their altars , miz·bə·ḥō·ṯê·hem תְּשַׁבֵּ֑רוּ smash tə·šab·bê·rū וּמַצֵּבֹתָ֖ם their sacred pillars , ū·maṣ·ṣê·ḇō·ṯām תְּגַדֵּע֔וּן cut down tə·ḡad·dê·‘ūn וַאֲשֵֽׁירֵהֶם֙ their Asherah poles , wa·’ă·šê·rê·hem תִּשְׂרְפ֥וּן and burn tiś·rə·p̄ūn וּפְסִילֵיהֶ֖ם their idols ū·p̄ə·sî·lê·hem בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ in the fire . bā·’êš Deuteronomy 7:6 כִּ֣י For kî אַתָּ֔ה you ’at·tāh עַ֤ם are a people ‘am קָדוֹשׁ֙ holy qā·ḏō·wōš לַיהוָ֖ה to YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā בְּךָ֞ . bə·ḵā יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā בָּחַ֣ר׀ has chosen you bā·ḥar לִהְי֥וֹת to be lih·yō·wṯ לְעַ֣ם a people lə·‘am לוֹ֙ for His lōw סְגֻלָּ֔ה prized possession sə·ḡul·lāh מִכֹּל֙ out of all mik·kōl הָֽעַמִּ֔ים peoples hā·‘am·mîm אֲשֶׁ֖ר - ’ă·šer עַל־ on ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י the face pə·nê הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ס of the earth . hā·’ă·ḏā·māh Deuteronomy 7:7 יְהוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh לֹ֣א did not lō חָשַׁ֧ק set His affection ḥā·šaq בָּכֶ֖ם on you bā·ḵem וַיִּבְחַ֣ר [and] choose way·yiḇ·ḥar
