בִּי֙ with me bî בִּגְלַלְכֶ֖ם on your account , biḡ·lal·ḵem לֵאמֹ֑ר and He said , lê·mōr לֹא־ “ Not lō- גַּם־ even gam- אַתָּ֖ה you ’at·tāh תָבֹ֥א shall enter ṯā·ḇō שָֽׁם׃ [the land] . šām Deuteronomy 1:38 יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ בִּן son bin נוּן֙ of Nun , nūn הָעֹמֵ֣ד who stands hā·‘ō·mêḏ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before you , lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā ה֖וּא vvv hū יָ֣בֹא will enter yā·ḇō שָׁ֑מָּה it . šām·māh אֹת֣וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw חַזֵּ֔ק Encourage him , ḥaz·zêq כִּי־ for kî- ה֖וּא he hū יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ will enable Israel yiś·rā·’êl יַנְחִלֶ֥נָּה to inherit yan·ḥi·len·nāh אֶת־ [the land] . ’eṯ- Deuteronomy 1:39 וְטַפְּכֶם֩ And the little ones wə·ṭap·pə·ḵem אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer אֲמַרְתֶּ֜ם you said ’ă·mar·tem יִהְיֶ֗ה would become yih·yeh לָבַ֣ז captives — lā·ḇaz וּ֠בְנֵיכֶם your children ū·ḇə·nê·ḵem אֲשֶׁ֨ר who ’ă·šer הַיּוֹם֙ on that day hay·yō·wm לֹא־ did not lō- יָדְע֤וּ know yā·ḏə·‘ū ט֣וֹב good ṭō·wḇ וָרָ֔ע from evil — wā·rā‘ הֵ֖מָּה hêm·māh יָבֹ֣אוּ will enter yā·ḇō·’ū שָׁ֑מָּה [the land that] šām·māh וְלָהֶ֣ם wə·lā·hem אֶתְּנֶ֔נָּה I will give them , ’et·tə·nen·nāh וְהֵ֖ם and they wə·hêm יִירָשֽׁוּהָּ׃ will possess it . yī·rå̄·šū·hå̄ Deuteronomy 1:40 וְאַתֶּ֖ם But you wə·’at·tem פְּנ֣וּ are to turn back pə·nū לָכֶ֑ם lā·ḵem וּסְע֥וּ and head ū·sə·‘ū הַמִּדְבָּ֖רָה for the wilderness ham·miḏ·bā·rāh דֶּ֥רֶךְ along the route de·reḵ סֽוּף׃ to the Red sūp̄ יַם־ Sea . ” yam- Deuteronomy 1:41 חָטָאנוּ֮ “ We have sinned ḥā·ṭā·nū לַֽיהוָה֒ against YHWH , ” Yah·weh וַֽתַּעֲנ֣וּ׀ you replied wat·ta·‘ă·nū וַתֹּאמְר֣וּ . . . wat·tō·mə·rū אֵלַ֗י . . . . ’ê·lay אֲנַ֤חְנוּ “ We ’ă·naḥ·nū נַעֲלֶה֙ will go up na·‘ă·leh וְנִלְחַ֔מְנוּ and fight , wə·nil·ḥam·nū כְּכֹ֥ל as kə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū צִוָּ֖נוּ has commanded us . ” ṣiw·wā·nū אִ֚ישׁ Then each ’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַֽתַּחְגְּר֗וּ of you put on wat·taḥ·gə·rū כְּלֵ֣י his weapons kə·lê מִלְחַמְתּ֔וֹ of war , mil·ḥam·tōw וַתָּהִ֖ינוּ thinking it easy wat·tā·hî·nū לַעֲלֹ֥ת to go up la·‘ă·lōṯ הָהָֽרָה׃ into the hill country . hā·hā·rāh Deuteronomy 1:42 יְהוָ֜ה But YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֵלַ֗י to me , ’ê·lay אֱמֹ֤ר “ Tell ’ĕ·mōr לָהֶם֙ them lā·hem לֹ֤א not lō תַֽעֲלוּ֙ to go up ṯa·‘ă·lū וְלֹא־ wə·lō- תִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וּ and fight , ṯil·lā·ḥă·mū כִּ֥י for kî אֵינֶ֖נִּי I [am] not ’ê·nen·nî בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם with you bə·qir·bə·ḵem וְלֹא֙ to keep you from wə·lō תִּנָּֽגְפ֔וּ defeat tin·nā·ḡə·p̄ū
