וַנָּבֹ֕א When we reached wan·nā·ḇō עַ֖ד . . . ‘aḏ קָדֵ֥שׁ vvv qā·ḏêš בַּרְנֵֽעַ׃ Kadesh-barnea , bar·nê·a‘ Deuteronomy 1:20 וָאֹמַ֖ר I said wā·’ō·mar אֲלֵכֶ֑ם - : ’ă·lê·ḵem בָּאתֶם֙ “ You have reached bā·ṯem עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- הַ֣ר the hill country har הָאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites , hā·’ĕ·mō·rî אֲשֶׁר־ which ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū נֹתֵ֥ן is giving nō·ṯên לָֽנוּ׃ us . lā·nū Deuteronomy 1:21 רְ֠אֵה See , rə·’êh יְהוָ֧ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā נָתַ֨ן has placed nā·ṯan הָאָ֑רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ לְפָנֶ֖יךָ before you . lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲלֵ֣ה Go up ‘ă·lêh רֵ֗שׁ and take possession of rêš כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ it as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָ֜ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֤י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê אֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ of your fathers ’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā לָ֔ךְ , lāḵ דִּבֶּ֨ר has told you . dib·ber אַל־ Do not ’al- תִּירָ֖א be afraid tî·rā וְאַל־ . . . wə·’al- תֵּחָֽת׃ or discouraged . ” tê·ḥāṯ Deuteronomy 1:22 כֻּלְּכֶם֒ Then all of you kul·lə·ḵem וַתִּקְרְב֣וּן approached wat·tiq·rə·ḇūn אֵלַי֮ me ’ê·lay וַתֹּאמְר֗וּ and said , wat·tō·mə·rū נִשְׁלְחָ֤ה “ Let us send niš·lə·ḥāh אֲנָשִׁים֙ men ’ă·nā·šîm לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ ahead of us lə·p̄ā·nê·nū וְיַחְפְּרוּ־ to search out wə·yaḥ·pə·rū- לָ֖נוּ lā·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֑רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ וְיָשִׁ֤בוּ and bring us wə·yā·ši·ḇū אֹתָ֙נוּ֙ - ’ō·ṯā·nū דָּבָ֔ר word dā·ḇār אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ of what route had·de·reḵ אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer נַעֲלֶה־ to follow na·‘ă·leh- בָּ֔הּ bāh וְאֵת֙ - wə·’êṯ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים and which cities he·‘ā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer נָבֹ֖א to enter nā·ḇō אֲלֵיהֶֽן׃ . . . . ” ’ă·lê·hen Deuteronomy 1:23 הַדָּבָ֑ר The plan had·dā·ḇār בְּעֵינַ֖י seemed bə·‘ê·nay וַיִּיטַ֥ב good to me , way·yî·ṭaḇ וָאֶקַּ֤ח so I selected wā·’eq·qaḥ שְׁנֵ֣ים twelve šə·nêm עָשָׂ֣ר . . . ‘ā·śār אֲנָשִׁ֔ים . . . ’ă·nā·šîm אִ֥ישׁ men ’îš מִכֶּם֙ from among you , mik·kem אֶחָ֖ד one ’e·ḥāḏ לַשָּֽׁבֶט׃ from each tribe . laš·šā·ḇeṭ Deuteronomy 1:24 וַיִּפְנוּ֙ They left way·yip̄·nū וַיַּעֲל֣וּ and went up way·ya·‘ă·lū הָהָ֔רָה into the hill country , hā·hā·rāh וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ and came way·yā·ḇō·’ū עַד־ to ‘aḏ- נַ֣חַל the Valley na·ḥal אֶשְׁכֹּ֑ל of Eshcol ’eš·kōl וַֽיְרַגְּל֖וּ and spied out [the land] way·rag·gə·lū אֹתָֽהּ׃ - . ’ō·ṯāh Deuteronomy 1:25 וַיִּקְח֤וּ They took way·yiq·ḥū מִפְּרִ֣י some of the fruit mip·pə·rî הָאָ֔רֶץ of the land hā·’ā·reṣ בְיָדָם֙ in their hands , ḇə·yā·ḏām
