Deuteronomy 1:15 וָאֶקַּ֞ח So I took wā·’eq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רָאשֵׁ֣י the leaders rā·šê שִׁבְטֵיכֶ֗ם of your tribes , šiḇ·ṭê·ḵem חֲכָמִים֙ wise ḥă·ḵā·mîm וִֽידֻעִ֔ים and respected wî·ḏu·‘îm אֲנָשִׁ֤ים men , ’ă·nā·šîm וָאֶתֵּ֥ן and appointed wā·’et·tên אֹתָ֛ם them ’ō·ṯām רָאשִׁ֖ים as leaders rā·šîm עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם over you — ‘ă·lê·ḵem שָׂרֵ֨י as commanders śā·rê אֲלָפִ֜ים of thousands , ’ă·lā·p̄îm וְשָׂרֵ֣י . . . wə·śā·rê מֵא֗וֹת of hundreds , mê·’ō·wṯ וְשָׂרֵ֤י . . . wə·śā·rê חֲמִשִּׁים֙ of fifties , ḥă·miš·šîm וְשָׂרֵ֣י . . . wə·śā·rê עֲשָׂרֹ֔ת and of tens , ‘ă·śā·rōṯ וְשֹׁטְרִ֖ים and as officers wə·šō·ṭə·rîm לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶֽם׃ for your tribes . lə·šiḇ·ṭê·ḵem Deuteronomy 1:16 הַהִ֖וא At that ha·hi·w לֵאמֹ֑ר . . . lê·mōr בָּעֵ֥ת time bā·‘êṯ וָאֲצַוֶּה֙ I charged wā·’ă·ṣaw·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שֹׁ֣פְטֵיכֶ֔ם your judges : šō·p̄ə·ṭê·ḵem שָׁמֹ֤עַ “ Hear šā·mō·a‘ בֵּין־ the disputes between bên- אֲחֵיכֶם֙ your brothers , ’ă·ḥê·ḵem וּשְׁפַטְתֶּ֣ם and judge ū·šə·p̄aṭ·tem צֶ֔דֶק fairly ṣe·ḏeq בֵּֽין־ between bên- אִ֥ישׁ a man ’îš וּבֵין־ . . . ū·ḇên- אָחִ֖יו and his brother ’ā·ḥîw וּבֵ֥ין . . . ū·ḇên גֵּרֽוֹ׃ or a foreign resident . gê·rōw Deuteronomy 1:17 לֹֽא־ vvv lō- תַכִּ֨ירוּ Show no partiality ṯak·kî·rū פָנִ֜ים . . . p̄ā·nîm בַּמִּשְׁפָּ֗ט in judging ; bam·miš·pāṭ תִּשְׁמָע֔וּן hear tiš·mā·‘ūn כַּקָּטֹ֤ן [both] small kaq·qā·ṭōn כַּגָּדֹל֙ and great alike . kag·gā·ḏōl לֹ֤א Do not lō תָג֙וּרוּ֙ be intimidated ṯā·ḡū·rū מִפְּנֵי־ by mip·pə·nê- אִ֔ישׁ anyone , ’îš כִּ֥י for kî הַמִּשְׁפָּ֖ט judgment ham·miš·pāṭ לֵאלֹהִ֣ים belongs to God . lê·lō·hîm ה֑וּא . . . hū תַּקְרִב֥וּן And bring taq·ri·ḇūn אֵלַ֖י to me ’ê·lay וְהַדָּבָר֙ any case wə·had·dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer יִקְשֶׁ֣ה too difficult yiq·šeh מִכֶּ֔ם for you , mik·kem וּשְׁמַעְתִּֽיו׃ and I will hear it . ” ū·šə·ma‘·tîw Deuteronomy 1:18 הַהִ֑וא And at that ha·hi·w אֵ֥ת - ’êṯ בָּעֵ֣ת time bā·‘êṯ וָאֲצַוֶּ֥ה I commanded wā·’ă·ṣaw·weh אֶתְכֶ֖ם you ’eṯ·ḵem כָּל־ all kāl- הַדְּבָרִ֖ים the things had·də·ḇā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer תַּעֲשֽׂוּן׃ you were to do . ta·‘ă·śūn Deuteronomy 1:19 כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר - ka·’ă·šer אֲשֶׁ֣ר And just as ’ă·šer יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū אֹתָ֑נוּ - ’ō·ṯā·nū צִוָּ֛ה had commanded us , ṣiw·wāh וַנִּסַּ֣ע we set out wan·nis·sa‘ מֵחֹרֵ֗ב from Horeb mê·ḥō·rêḇ וַנֵּ֡לֶךְ and went wan·nê·leḵ אֵ֣ת ’êṯ דֶּ֚רֶךְ toward de·reḵ הַ֣ר the hill country har הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites , hā·’ĕ·mō·rî כָּל־ through all kāl- הַגָּדוֹל֩ the vast hag·gā·ḏō·wl וְהַנּוֹרָ֨א and terrifying wə·han·nō·w·rā הַה֜וּא . . . ha·hū הַמִּדְבָּ֣ר wilderness ham·miḏ·bār רְאִיתֶ֗ם you have seen . rə·’î·ṯem
