אֶ֜בֶן a heavy stone ’e·ḇen אֲשֶׁר־ ’ă·šer- יָמ֥וּת yā·mūṯ בָּהּ֙ bāh וַיָּמֹ֑ת that kills him , way·yā·mōṯ וְהוּא֙ but he wə·hū לֹא־ was not lō- אוֹיֵ֣ב an enemy ’ō·w·yêḇ ל֔וֹ lōw וְלֹ֥א and did not wə·lō מְבַקֵּ֖שׁ intend mə·ḇaq·qêš רָעָתֽוֹ׃ to harm him , rā·‘ā·ṯōw Numbers 35:24 הָֽעֵדָ֔ה then the congregation hā·‘ê·ḏāh וְשָֽׁפְטוּ֙ must judge wə·šā·p̄ə·ṭū בֵּ֚ין between bên הַמַּכֶּ֔ה the slayer ham·mak·keh וּבֵ֖ין . . . ū·ḇên גֹּאֵ֣ל and the avenger gō·’êl הַדָּ֑ם of blood had·dām עַ֥ל according to ‘al הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ these hā·’êl·leh הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֖ים ordinances . ham·miš·pā·ṭîm Numbers 35:25 הָעֵדָ֜ה The assembly hā·‘ê·ḏāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְהִצִּ֨ילוּ is to protect wə·hiṣ·ṣî·lū הָרֹצֵ֗חַ the manslayer hā·rō·ṣê·aḥ מִיַּד֮ from the hand mî·yaḏ גֹּאֵ֣ל of the avenger gō·’êl הַדָּם֒ of blood . had·dām הָֽעֵדָ֔ה Then the assembly hā·‘ê·ḏāh וְהֵשִׁ֤יבוּ will return wə·hê·šî·ḇū אֹתוֹ֙ him ’ō·ṯōw אֶל־ to ’el- עִ֥יר the city ‘îr מִקְלָט֖וֹ of refuge miq·lā·ṭōw אֲשֶׁר־ to which ’ă·šer- נָ֣ס he fled , nās שָׁ֑מָּה . . . šām·māh וְיָ֣שַׁב and he must live wə·yā·šaḇ בָּ֗הּ there bāh עַד־ until ‘aḏ- מוֹת֙ the death mō·wṯ הַגָּדֹ֔ל of the high hag·gā·ḏōl הַכֹּהֵ֣ן priest , hak·kō·hên אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- מָשַׁ֥ח was anointed mā·šaḥ אֹת֖וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ with the holy haq·qō·ḏeš בְּשֶׁ֥מֶן oil . bə·še·men Numbers 35:26 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- הָרֹצֵ֑חַ the manslayer hā·rō·ṣê·aḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָצֹ֥א ever goes outside yā·ṣō יֵצֵ֖א . . . yê·ṣê גְּבוּל֙ the limits gə·ḇūl עִ֣יר of the city ‘îr מִקְלָט֔וֹ of refuge miq·lā·ṭōw אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יָנ֖וּס to which he fled yā·nūs שָֽׁמָּה׃ . . . šām·māh Numbers 35:27 גֹּאֵ֣ל and the avenger gō·’êl הַדָּ֔ם of blood had·dām וּמָצָ֤א finds ū·mā·ṣā אֹתוֹ֙ him ’ō·ṯōw מִח֕וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ לִגְב֖וּל . . . liḡ·ḇūl עִ֣יר of his city ‘îr מִקְלָט֑וֹ of refuge miq·lā·ṭōw וְרָצַ֞ח and kills him , wə·rā·ṣaḥ גֹּאֵ֤ל [then] the avenger gō·’êl אֵ֥ין will not ’ên ל֖וֹ lōw דָּֽם׃ - dām הַדָּם֙ be guilty of bloodshed had·dām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָ֣רֹצֵ֔חַ - hā·rō·ṣê·aḥ Numbers 35:28 כִּ֣י because kî יֵשֵׁ֔ב [the manslayer] must remain yê·šêḇ בְעִ֤יר in his city ḇə·‘îr מִקְלָטוֹ֙ of refuge miq·lā·ṭōw עַד־ until ‘aḏ- מ֖וֹת the death mō·wṯ הַגָּדֹ֑ל of the high hag·gā·ḏōl הַכֹּהֵ֣ן priest . hak·kō·hên וְאַחֲרֵ֥י Only after wə·’a·ḥă·rê
