אַתֶּ֛ם you ’at·tem עֹבְרִ֥ים cross ‘ō·ḇə·rîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן the Jordan hay·yar·dên אַ֥רְצָה into the land ’ar·ṣāh כְּנָֽעַן׃ of Canaan , kə·nā·‘an Numbers 35:11 וְהִקְרִיתֶ֤ם designate wə·hiq·rî·ṯem לָכֶם֙ lā·ḵem עָרִ֔ים cities ‘ā·rîm תִּהְיֶ֣ינָה to serve as tih·ye·nāh לָכֶ֑ם your lā·ḵem עָרֵ֥י cities ‘ā·rê מִקְלָ֖ט of refuge , miq·lāṭ רֹצֵ֔חַ so that a person rō·ṣê·aḥ מַכֵּה־ who kills mak·kêh- נֶ֖פֶשׁ someone ne·p̄eš בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃ unintentionally biš·ḡā·ḡāh וְנָ֥ס may flee wə·nās שָׁ֙מָּה֙ there . šām·māh Numbers 35:12 וְהָי֨וּ You are to have wə·hā·yū לָכֶ֧ם lā·ḵem הֶעָרִ֛ים these cities he·‘ā·rîm לְמִקְלָ֖ט as a refuge lə·miq·lāṭ מִגֹּאֵ֑ל from the avenger , mig·gō·’êl הָרֹצֵ֔חַ so that the manslayer hā·rō·ṣê·aḥ וְלֹ֤א will not wə·lō יָמוּת֙ die yā·mūṯ עַד־ until ‘aḏ- עָמְד֛וֹ he stands ‘ā·mə·ḏōw לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ trial lam·miš·pāṭ לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê הָעֵדָ֖ה the assembly . hā·‘ê·ḏāh Numbers 35:13 וְהֶעָרִ֖ים The cities wə·he·‘ā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer תִּתֵּ֑נוּ you select tit·tê·nū תִּהְיֶ֥ינָה will be tih·ye·nāh לָכֶֽם׃ your lā·ḵem שֵׁשׁ־ six šêš- עָרֵ֥י cities ‘ā·rê מִקְלָ֖ט of refuge . miq·lāṭ Numbers 35:14 אֵ֣ת׀ - ’êṯ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ Select three šə·lōš הֶעָרִ֗ים cities he·‘ā·rîm תִּתְּנוּ֙ . . . tit·tə·nū מֵעֵ֣בֶר across mê·‘ê·ḇer לַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן the Jordan lay·yar·dên וְאֵת֙ - wə·’êṯ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ and three šə·lōš הֶֽעָרִ֔ים - he·‘ā·rîm תִּתְּנ֖וּ - tit·tə·nū בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan kə·nā·‘an תִּהְיֶֽינָה׃ as tih·ye·nāh עָרֵ֥י cities ‘ā·rê מִקְלָ֖ט of refuge . miq·lāṭ Numbers 35:15 הָאֵ֖לֶּה These hā·’êl·leh שֵׁשׁ־ six šêš- הֶעָרִ֥ים cities he·‘ā·rîm תִּהְיֶ֛ינָה will serve tih·ye·nāh לְמִקְלָ֑ט as a refuge lə·miq·lāṭ לִבְנֵ֣י for the Israelites liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וְלַגֵּ֤ר and for the foreigner wə·lag·gêr וְלַתּוֹשָׁב֙ or stranger wə·lat·tō·wō·šāḇ בְּתוֹכָ֔ם among them , bə·ṯō·w·ḵām כָּל־ so that anyone kāl- מַכֵּה־ who kills mak·kêh- נֶ֖פֶשׁ a person ne·p̄eš בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃ unintentionally biš·ḡā·ḡāh לָנ֣וּס may flee lā·nūs שָׁ֔מָּה there . šām·māh Numbers 35:16 וְאִם־ If, however , wə·’im- הִכָּ֛הוּ anyone strikes hik·kā·hū בַרְזֶ֧ל׀ a person with an iron ḇar·zel בִּכְלִ֨י object biḵ·lî וַיָּמֹ֖ת and kills him , way·yā·mōṯ ה֑וּא he hū רֹצֵ֣חַֽ is a murderer ; rō·ṣê·aḥ הָרֹצֵֽחַ׃ the murderer hā·rō·ṣê·aḥ מ֥וֹת must surely be put to death mō·wṯ יוּמַ֖ת . . . . yū·maṯ
