וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ went way·yê·ṣə·’ū לִקְרָאתָ֑ם to meet them liq·rā·ṯām אֶל־ . . . ’el- מִח֖וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ the camp . lam·ma·ḥă·neh Numbers 31:14 מֹשֶׁ֔ה But Moses mō·šeh וַיִּקְצֹ֣ף was angry way·yiq·ṣōp̄ עַ֖ל with ‘al פְּקוּדֵ֣י the officers pə·qū·ḏê הֶחָ֑יִל of the army — he·ḥā·yil שָׂרֵ֤י the commanders śā·rê הָאֲלָפִים֙ of thousands hā·’ă·lā·p̄îm וְשָׂרֵ֣י and commanders wə·śā·rê הַמֵּא֔וֹת of hundreds — ham·mê·’ō·wṯ הַבָּאִ֖ים who were returning hab·bā·’îm מִצְּבָ֥א from miṣ·ṣə·ḇā הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ the battle . ham·mil·ḥā·māh Numbers 31:15 הַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖ם “ Have you spared ha·ḥî·yî·ṯem כָּל־ all kāl- נְקֵבָֽה׃ the women ? ” nə·qê·ḇāh מֹשֶׁ֑ה he mō·šeh וַיֹּ֥אמֶר asked them . way·yō·mer אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם . . . ’ă·lê·hem Numbers 31:16 הֵ֣ן “ Look , hên הֵ֜נָּה these women hên·nāh הָי֨וּ caused hā·yū לִבְנֵ֤י the sons liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl בִּדְבַ֣ר through the counsel biḏ·ḇar בִּלְעָ֔ם of Balaam , bil·‘ām לִמְסָר־ to turn lim·sār- מַ֥עַל unfaithfully ma·‘al בַּיהוָ֖ה against YHWH Yah·weh עַל־ at ‘al- פְּע֑וֹר Peor pə·‘ō·wr דְּבַר־ - , də·ḇar- הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה so that the plague ham·mag·gê·p̄āh וַתְּהִ֥י struck wat·tə·hî בַּעֲדַ֥ת the congregation ba·‘ă·ḏaṯ יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh Numbers 31:17 וְעַתָּ֕ה So now , wə·‘at·tāh הִרְג֥וּ kill hir·ḡū כָל־ all ḵāl זָכָ֖ר the boys zā·ḵār בַּטָּ֑ף . . . , baṭ·ṭāp̄ הֲרֹֽגוּ׃ as well as hă·rō·ḡū וְכָל־ every wə·ḵāl אִשָּׁ֗ה woman ’iš·šāh יֹדַ֥עַת who has had relations with yō·ḏa·‘aṯ אִ֛ישׁ . . . ’îš לְמִשְׁכַּ֥ב . . . lə·miš·kaḇ זָכָ֖ר a man , zā·ḵār Numbers 31:18 הַחֲי֖וּ but spare ha·ḥă·yū לָכֶֽם׃ for yourselves lā·ḵem וְכֹל֙ every wə·ḵōl הַטַּ֣ף girl haṭ·ṭap̄ בַּנָּשִׁ֔ים . . . ban·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer לֹא־ has never lō- יָדְע֖וּ had relations yā·ḏə·‘ū מִשְׁכַּ֣ב . . . miš·kaḇ זָכָ֑ר with a man . zā·ḵār Numbers 31:19 כֹּל֩ All of you kōl הֹרֵ֨ג who have killed hō·rêḡ נֶ֜פֶשׁ a person ne·p̄eš וְכֹ֣ל׀ . . . wə·ḵōl נֹגֵ֣עַ or touched nō·ḡê·a‘ בֶּֽחָלָ֗ל the dead be·ḥā·lāl וְאַתֶּ֗ם - wə·’at·tem חֲנ֛וּ are to remain ḥă·nū מִח֥וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה the camp lam·ma·ḥă·neh שִׁבְעַ֣ת for seven šiḇ·‘aṯ יָמִ֑ים days . yā·mîm הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ On the third haš·šə·lî·šî בַּיּ֤וֹם day bay·yō·wm הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י and the seventh haš·šə·ḇî·‘î וּבַיּ֣וֹם day ū·ḇay·yō·wm תִּֽתְחַטְּא֞וּ you are to purify tiṯ·ḥaṭ·ṭə·’ū אַתֶּ֖ם [both] yourselves ’at·tem וּשְׁבִיכֶֽם׃ and your captives . ū·šə·ḇî·ḵem
