לוֹט֙ When Lot lō·wṭ וַיַּרְא־ saw them , way·yar- וַיָּ֣קָם he got up way·yā·qām לִקְרָאתָ֔ם to meet them , liq·rā·ṯām וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ bowed way·yiš·ta·ḥū אַפַּ֖יִם facedown ’ap·pa·yim אָֽרְצָה׃ . . . , ’ā·rə·ṣāh Genesis 19:2 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer הִנֶּ֣ה “ . . . hin·neh נָּא־ . . . nā- אֲדֹנַ֗י My lords , ’ă·ḏō·nay נָ֠א please nā ס֣וּרוּ turn aside sū·rū אֶל־ into ’el- בֵּ֨ית the house bêṯ עַבְדְּכֶ֤ם of your servant ; ‘aḇ·də·ḵem וְרַחֲצ֣וּ wash wə·ra·ḥă·ṣū רַגְלֵיכֶ֔ם your feet raḡ·lê·ḵem וְלִ֙ינוּ֙ and spend the night . wə·lî·nū וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּ֖ם Then you can rise early wə·hiš·kam·tem וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֣ם and go wa·hă·laḵ·tɛm לְדַרְכְּכֶ֑ם on your way . ” lə·ḏar·kə·ḵem לֹּ֔א “ No , ” lō כִּ֥י . . . kî וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ they answered , way·yō·mə·rū נָלִֽין׃ “ we will spend the night nā·lîn בָרְח֖וֹב in the square . ” ḇā·rə·ḥō·wḇ Genesis 19:3 וַיִּפְצַר־ But [Lot] insisted way·yip̄·ṣar- בָּ֣ם . . . bām מְאֹ֔ד so strongly mə·’ōḏ וַיָּסֻ֣רוּ that they followed way·yā·su·rū אֵלָ֔יו him ’ê·lāw וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ vvv way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ into ’el- בֵּית֑וֹ his house . bê·ṯōw וַיַּ֤עַשׂ He prepared way·ya·‘aś מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה a feast miš·teh לָהֶם֙ for them lā·hem אָפָ֖ה and baked ’ā·p̄āh וּמַצּ֥וֹת unleavened bread , ū·maṣ·ṣō·wṯ וַיֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ and they ate . way·yō·ḵê·lū Genesis 19:4 טֶרֶם֮ Before ṭe·rem יִשְׁכָּבוּ֒ they had gone to bed , yiš·kā·ḇū כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָ֖ם . . . hā·‘ām וְאַנְשֵׁ֨י the men wə·’an·šê הָעִ֜יר of the city hā·‘îr אַנְשֵׁ֤י . . . ’an·šê סְדֹם֙ of Sodom , sə·ḏōm מִנַּ֖עַר both young min·na·‘ar וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- זָקֵ֑ן old , zā·qên מִקָּצֶֽה׃ . . . miq·qā·ṣeh נָסַ֣בּוּ surrounded nā·sab·bū עַל־ . . . ‘al- הַבַּ֔יִת the house . hab·ba·yiṯ Genesis 19:5 וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ They called out way·yiq·rə·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- לוֹט֙ Lot , lō·wṭ וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ saying way·yō·mə·rū ל֔וֹ , lōw אַיֵּ֧ה “ Where ’ay·yêh הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים are the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- בָּ֥אוּ came bā·’ū אֵלֶ֖יךָ to you tonight ’ê·le·ḵā הַלָּ֑יְלָה . . . ? hal·lā·yə·lāh הוֹצִיאֵ֣ם Send them out hō·w·ṣî·’êm אֵלֵ֔ינוּ to us ’ê·lê·nū וְנֵדְעָ֖ה so we can have relations wə·nê·ḏə·‘āh אֹתָֽם׃ with them ! ” ’ō·ṯām Genesis 19:6 ל֖וֹט Lot lō·wṭ וַיֵּצֵ֧א went way·yê·ṣê הַפֶּ֑תְחָה outside hap·peṯ·ḥāh אֲלֵהֶ֛ם to meet them , ’ă·lê·hem סָגַ֥ר shutting sā·ḡar וְהַדֶּ֖לֶת the door wə·had·de·leṯ אַחֲרָֽיו׃ behind him . ’a·ḥă·rāw Genesis 19:7 נָ֥א “ Please , nā אַחַ֖י my brothers , ” ’a·ḥay וַיֹּאמַ֑ר he pleaded , way·yō·mar אַל־ “ don’t ’al-
