אֶ֥רֶץ in the land ’e·reṣ בְּנֵי־ of his people bə·nê- עַמּ֖וֹ . . . . ‘am·mōw הִ֠נֵּה “ Behold , hin·nêh עַ֣ם a people ‘am יָצָ֤א has come out yā·ṣā מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ of Egypt , ” mim·miṣ·ra·yim לִקְרֹא־ said Balak liq·rō- ל֑וֹ . lōw לֵאמֹ֗ר - lê·mōr הִנֵּ֤ה “ - hin·nêh כִסָּה֙ They cover ḵis·sāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֵ֣ין the face ‘ên הָאָ֔רֶץ of the land hā·’ā·reṣ וְה֥וּא . . . wə·hū יֹשֵׁ֖ב and have settled yō·šêḇ מִמֻּלִֽי׃ next to me . mim·mu·lî Numbers 22:6 נָּ֨א So please nā לְכָה־ come lə·ḵāh- וְעַתָּה֩ now wə·‘at·tāh אָֽרָה־ and put a curse ’ā·rāh- לִּ֜י lî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֗ה on this haz·zeh הָעָ֣ם people , hā·‘ām כִּֽי־ because kî- הוּא֙ they hū עָצ֥וּם are too mighty ‘ā·ṣūm מִמֶּ֔נִּי for me . mim·men·nî אוּלַ֤י Perhaps I may ’ū·lay אוּכַל֙ be able ’ū·ḵal נַכֶּה־ to defeat nak·keh- בּ֔וֹ them bōw וַאֲגָרְשֶׁ֖נּוּ and drive them out wa·’ă·ḡā·rə·šen·nū מִן־ of min- הָאָ֑רֶץ the land ; hā·’ā·reṣ כִּ֣י for kî יָדַ֗עְתִּי I know yā·ḏa‘·tî אֵ֤ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ that those ’ă·šer- תְּבָרֵךְ֙ you bless tə·ḇā·rêḵ מְבֹרָ֔ךְ are blessed , mə·ḇō·rāḵ וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר and those wa·’ă·šer תָּאֹ֖ר you curse tā·’ōr יוּאָֽר׃ are cursed . ” yū·’ār Numbers 22:7 זִקְנֵ֤י The elders ziq·nê מוֹאָב֙ of Moab mō·w·’āḇ וְזִקְנֵ֣י . . . wə·ziq·nê מִדְיָ֔ן and Midian miḏ·yān וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ departed way·yê·lə·ḵū וּקְסָמִ֖ים with the fees for divination ū·qə·sā·mîm בְּיָדָ֑ם in hand . bə·yā·ḏām וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ They came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- בִּלְעָ֔ם Balaam bil·‘ām וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ and relayed way·ḏab·bə·rū אֵלָ֖יו to him ’ê·lāw דִּבְרֵ֥י the words diḇ·rê בָלָֽק׃ of Balak . ḇā·lāq Numbers 22:8 לִ֤ינוּ “ Spend lî·nū הַלַּ֔יְלָה the night hal·lay·lāh פֹה֙ here , ” p̄ōh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר [Balaam] replied way·yō·mer אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם . . . , ’ă·lê·hem וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֤י “ and I will give wa·hă·ši·ḇō·ṯî אֶתְכֶם֙ - ’eṯ·ḵem דָּבָ֔ר you the answer dā·ḇār כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר that ka·’ă·šer יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh יְדַבֵּ֥ר speaks yə·ḏab·bêr אֵלָ֑י to me . ” ’ê·lāy שָׂרֵֽי־ So the princes śā·rê- מוֹאָ֖ב of Moab mō·w·’āḇ וַיֵּשְׁב֥וּ stayed way·yê·šə·ḇū עִם־ with ‘im- בִּלְעָֽם׃ Balaam . bil·‘ām Numbers 22:9 אֱלֹהִ֖ים Then God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיָּבֹ֥א came way·yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- בִּלְעָ֑ם Balaam bil·‘ām וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and asked , way·yō·mer מִ֛י “ Who mî הָאֵ֖לֶּה are these hā·’êl·leh הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים men hā·’ă·nā·šîm עִמָּֽךְ׃ with you ? ” ‘im·māḵ
