שִׁמְעוּ־ “ Listen šim·‘ū- נָא֙ now , nā הַמֹּרִ֔ים you rebels , ham·mō·rîm מָֽיִם׃ must we bring you water mā·yim לָכֶ֖ם lā·ḵem נוֹצִ֥יא out nō·w·ṣî הֲמִן־ of hă·min- הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הַסֶּ֣לַע rock ? ” has·se·la‘ Numbers 20:11 מֹשֶׁ֜ה Then Moses mō·šeh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּ֨רֶם raised way·yā·rem יָד֗וֹ his hand yā·ḏōw וַיַּ֧ךְ and struck way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַסֶּ֛לַע the rock has·se·la‘ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם twice pa·‘ă·mā·yim בְּמַטֵּ֖הוּ with his staff , bə·maṭ·ṭê·hū רַבִּ֔ים so that a great amount of rab·bîm מַ֣יִם water ma·yim וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ gushed out , way·yê·ṣə·’ū הָעֵדָ֖ה and the congregation hā·‘ê·ḏāh וּבְעִירָֽם׃ס and their livestock ū·ḇə·‘î·rām וַתֵּ֥שְׁתְּ were able to drink . wat·tê·šət Numbers 20:12 יְהוָה֮ But YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֣ה Moses mō·šeh וְאֶֽל־ and wə·’el- אַהֲרֹן֒ Aaron , ’a·hă·rōn יַ֚עַן “ Because ya·‘an לֹא־ you did not lō- הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם trust he·’ĕ·man·tem בִּ֔י Me bî לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי to show My holiness lə·haq·dî·šê·nî לְעֵינֵ֖י in the sight lə·‘ê·nê בְּנֵ֣י vvv bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of the Israelites , yiś·rā·’êl לָכֵ֗ן . . . lā·ḵên לֹ֤א you will not lō תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ bring ṯā·ḇî·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh אֶל־ . . . ’el- הַקָּהָ֣ל assembly haq·qā·hāl הָאָ֖רֶץ into the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- נָתַ֥תִּי I have given nā·ṯat·tî לָהֶֽם׃ them . ” lā·hem Numbers 20:13 הֵ֚מָּה These hêm·māh מֵ֣י were the waters mê מְרִיבָ֔ה of Meribah , mə·rî·ḇāh אֲשֶׁר־ where ’ă·šer- בְנֵֽי־ the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl רָב֥וּ quarreled rā·ḇū אֶת־ with ’eṯ- יְהוָ֑ה YHWH , Yah·weh וַיִּקָּדֵ֖שׁ and He showed His holiness way·yiq·qā·ḏêš בָּֽם׃ס among them . bām Numbers 20:14 מִקָּדֵ֖שׁ From Kadesh , miq·qā·ḏêš מֹשֶׁ֧ה Moses mō·šeh וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent way·yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכִ֛ים messengers mal·’ā·ḵîm אֶל־ to [tell] ’el- מֶ֣לֶךְ the king me·leḵ אֱד֑וֹם of Edom , ’ĕ·ḏō·wm כֹּ֤ה “ This is what kōh אָחִ֣יךָ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar אַתָּ֣ה You ’at·tāh יָדַ֔עְתָּ know yā·ḏa‘·tā אֵ֥ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ all kāl- הַתְּלָאָ֖ה the hardship hat·tə·lā·’āh אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer מְצָאָֽתְנוּ׃ has befallen us , mə·ṣā·’ā·ṯə·nū Numbers 20:15 אֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ how our fathers ’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū וַיֵּרְד֤וּ went down way·yê·rə·ḏū מִצְרַ֔יְמָה to Egypt , miṣ·ray·māh וַנֵּ֥שֶׁב where we lived wan·nê·šeḇ בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם - bə·miṣ·ra·yim רַבִּ֑ים many rab·bîm יָמִ֣ים years . yā·mîm
