לֹ֨א had not [yet] lō הִמְטִ֜יר sent rain him·ṭîr עַל־ upon ‘al- הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth , hā·’ā·reṣ אַ֔יִן and [there was] no ’a·yin וְאָדָ֣ם man wə·’ā·ḏām לַֽעֲבֹ֖ד to cultivate la·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ the ground . hā·’ă·ḏā·māh Genesis 2:6 וְאֵ֖ד But springs wə·’êḏ יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה welled up ya·‘ă·leh מִן־ from min- הָאָ֑רֶץ the earth hā·’ā·reṣ וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה and watered wə·hiš·qāh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ the whole kāl- פְּנֵֽי־ surface pə·nê- הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ of the ground . hā·’ă·ḏā·māh Genesis 2:7 יְהוָ֨ה Then YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהִ֜ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּיצֶר֩ formed way·yî·ṣer הָֽאָדָ֗ם man hā·’ā·ḏām עָפָר֙ [from] the dust ‘ā·p̄ār מִן־ of min- הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה the ground hā·’ă·ḏā·māh וַיִּפַּ֥ח and breathed way·yip·paḥ נִשְׁמַ֣ת the breath niš·maṯ חַיִּ֑ים of life ḥay·yîm בְּאַפָּ֖יו into his nostrils , bə·’ap·pāw הָֽאָדָ֖ם and the man hā·’ā·ḏām וַֽיְהִ֥י became way·hî חַיָּֽה׃ a living ḥay·yāh לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ being . lə·ne·p̄eš Genesis 2:8 יְהוָ֧ה And YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהִ֛ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיִּטַּ֞ע planted way·yiṭ·ṭa‘ גַּן־ a garden gan- בְעֵ֖דֶן in Eden , bə·‘ê·ḏen מִקֶּ֑דֶם in the east , miq·qe·ḏem שָׁ֔ם where šām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּ֣שֶׂם He placed way·yā·śem הָֽאָדָ֖ם the man hā·’ā·ḏām אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יָצָֽר׃ He had formed . yā·ṣār Genesis 2:9 מִן־ Out min- הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה of the ground hā·’ă·ḏā·māh יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהִים֙ God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיַּצְמַ֞ח gave growth way·yaṣ·maḥ כָּל־ to every kāl- עֵ֛ץ tree ‘êṣ נֶחְמָ֥ד that is pleasing neḥ·māḏ לְמַרְאֶ֖ה to the eye lə·mar·’eh וְט֣וֹב and good wə·ṭō·wḇ לְמַאֲכָ֑ל for food . lə·ma·’ă·ḵāl בְּת֣וֹךְ And in the middle bə·ṯō·wḵ הַגָּ֔ן of the garden hag·gān וְעֵ֤ץ [were] the tree wə·‘êṣ הַֽחַיִּים֙ of life ha·ḥay·yîm וְעֵ֕ץ and the tree wə·‘êṣ הַדַּ֖עַת of the knowledge had·da·‘aṯ ט֥וֹב of good ṭō·wḇ וָרָֽע׃ and evil . wā·rā‘ Genesis 2:10 וְנָהָר֙ Now a river wə·nå̄·hå̄r יֹצֵ֣א flowed out yō·ṣê מֵעֵ֔דֶן of Eden mê·‘ê·ḏen לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת to water lə·haš·qō·wṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַגָּ֑ן the garden , hag·gān וּמִשָּׁם֙ and from there ū·miš·šām יִפָּרֵ֔ד it branched into yip·pā·rêḏ וְהָיָ֖ה . . . wə·hā·yāh לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה four lə·’ar·bā·‘āh רָאשִֽׁים׃ headwaters : rā·šîm Genesis 2:11 שֵׁ֥ם The name šêm הָֽאֶחָ֖ד of the first [river] hā·’e·ḥāḏ פִּישׁ֑וֹן [is] Pishon ; pî·šō·wn ה֣וּא it hū הַסֹּבֵ֗ב winds through has·sō·ḇêḇ אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ
