אֲשֶׁ֣ר to which ’ă·šer שְׁלַחְתָּ֑נוּ you sent us , šə·laḥ·tā·nū וְ֠גַם and indeed , wə·ḡam הִ֖וא it hî זָבַ֨ת is flowing zā·ḇaṯ חָלָ֥ב with milk ḥā·lāḇ וּדְבַ֛שׁ and honey . ū·ḏə·ḇaš וְזֶה־ Here is wə·zeh- פִּרְיָֽהּ׃ some of its fruit ! pir·yāh Numbers 13:28 אֶ֚פֶס Nevertheless ’e·p̄es כִּֽי־ . . . , kî- הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām הַיֹּשֵׁ֖ב living hay·yō·šêḇ בָּאָ֑רֶץ in the land bā·’ā·reṣ עַ֣ז are strong , ‘az וְהֶֽעָרִ֗ים and the cities wə·he·‘ā·rîm בְּצֻר֤וֹת . . . bə·ṣu·rō·wṯ גְּדֹלֹת֙ are large gə·ḏō·lōṯ מְאֹ֔ד and fortified . mə·’ōḏ וְגַם־ We even wə·ḡam- רָאִ֥ינוּ saw rā·’î·nū יְלִדֵ֥י the descendants yə·li·ḏê הָֽעֲנָ֖ק of Anak hā·‘ă·nāq שָֽׁם׃ there . šām Numbers 13:29 עֲמָלֵ֥ק The Amalekites ‘ă·mā·lêq יוֹשֵׁ֖ב live yō·wō·šêḇ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ הַנֶּ֑גֶב of the Negev ; han·ne·ḡeḇ וְ֠הַֽחִתִּי the Hittites , wə·ha·ḥit·tî וְהַיְבוּסִ֤י Jebusites , wə·hay·ḇū·sî וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ and Amorites wə·hā·’ĕ·mō·rî יוֹשֵׁ֣ב live yō·wō·šêḇ בָּהָ֔ר in the hill country ; bā·hār וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ and the Canaanites wə·hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî יֹשֵׁ֣ב live yō·šêḇ עַל־ by ‘al- הַיָּ֔ם the sea hay·yām וְעַ֖ל and along wə·‘al יַ֥ד . . . yaḏ הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ the Jordan . ” hay·yar·dên Numbers 13:30 כָּלֵ֛ב Then Caleb kā·lêḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּ֧הַס quieted way·ya·has הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām אֶל־ before ’el- מֹשֶׁ֑ה Moses mō·šeh וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer עָלֹ֤ה “ We must go up ‘ā·lōh נַעֲלֶה֙ . . . na·‘ă·leh וְיָרַ֣שְׁנוּ and take possession of wə·yā·raš·nū אֹתָ֔הּ [the land] , ’ō·ṯāh כִּֽי־ for kî- יָכ֥וֹל we can certainly conquer yā·ḵō·wl נוּכַ֖ל . . . nū·ḵal לָֽהּ׃ it ! ” lāh Numbers 13:31 וְהָ֨אֲנָשִׁ֜ים But the men wə·hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- עָל֤וּ had gone up ‘ā·lū עִמּוֹ֙ with him ‘im·mōw אָֽמְר֔וּ replied , ’ā·mə·rū לֹ֥א “ We cannot lō נוּכַ֖ל . . . nū·ḵal לַעֲל֣וֹת go up la·‘ă·lō·wṯ אֶל־ against ’el- הָעָ֑ם the people , hā·‘ām כִּֽי־ for kî- ה֖וּא they hū חָזָ֥ק are stronger ḥā·zāq מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ than we are ! ” mim·men·nū Numbers 13:32 וַיּוֹצִ֜יאוּ So they gave way·yō·w·ṣî·’ū אֶל־ - ’el- בְּנֵ֥י the Israelites bə·nê דִּבַּ֤ת a bad report dib·baṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl לֵאמֹ֑ר . . . lê·mōr הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ about the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer תָּר֣וּ they had spied out : tā·rū אֹתָ֔הּ - ’ō·ṯāh הָאָ֡רֶץ “ The land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר֩ - ’ă·šer עָבַ֨רְנוּ we explored ‘ā·ḇar·nū בָ֜הּ . . . ḇāh לָת֣וּר . . . lā·ṯūr אֹתָ֗הּ - ’ō·ṯāh
