Numbers 13:22 וַיַּעֲל֣וּ They went up way·ya·‘ă·lū בַנֶּגֶב֮ through the Negev ḇan·ne·ḡeḇ וַיָּבֹ֣א and came way·yā·ḇō עַד־ to ‘aḏ- חֶבְרוֹן֒ Hebron , ḥeḇ·rō·wn וְשָׁ֤ם where wə·šām אֲחִימַן֙ Ahiman , ’ă·ḥî·man שֵׁשַׁ֣י Sheshai , šê·šay וְתַלְמַ֔י and Talmai , wə·ṯal·may יְלִידֵ֖י the descendants yə·lî·ḏê הָעֲנָ֑ק of Anak , hā·‘ă·nāq וְחֶבְר֗וֹן dwelled . wə·ḥeḇ·rō·wn נִבְנְתָ֔ה It had been built niḇ·nə·ṯāh שֶׁ֤בַע seven še·ḇa‘ שָׁנִים֙ years šā·nîm לִפְנֵ֖י before lip̄·nê צֹ֥עַן Zoan ṣō·‘an מִצְרָֽיִם׃ in Egypt . miṣ·rā·yim Numbers 13:23 וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ When they came way·yā·ḇō·’ū עַד־ to ‘aḏ- נַ֣חַל the Valley na·ḥal אֶשְׁכֹּ֗ל of Eshcol , ’eš·kōl וַיִּכְרְת֨וּ they cut down way·yiḵ·rə·ṯū מִשָּׁ֤ם . . . miš·šām זְמוֹרָה֙ a branch zə·mō·w·rāh אֶחָ֔ד with a single ’e·ḥāḏ וְאֶשְׁכּ֤וֹל cluster wə·’eš·kō·wl עֲנָבִים֙ of grapes , ‘ă·nā·ḇîm וַיִּשָּׂאֻ֥הוּ which they carried way·yiś·śā·’u·hū בַמּ֖וֹט on a pole ḇam·mō·wṭ בִּשְׁנָ֑יִם between two men . biš·nā·yim וּמִן־ They also took some ū·min- הָרִמֹּנִ֖ים pomegranates hā·rim·mō·nîm וּמִן־ . . . ū·min- הַתְּאֵנִֽים׃ and figs . hat·tə·’ê·nîm Numbers 13:24 עַ֚ל Because of ‘al אֹד֣וֹת . . . ’ō·ḏō·wṯ הָֽאֶשְׁכּ֔וֹל the cluster hā·’eš·kō·wl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- בְּנֵ֥י of grapes the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ . . . yiś·rā·’êl כָּרְת֥וּ cut kā·rə·ṯū מִשָּׁ֖ם there , miš·šām הַה֔וּא that ha·hū לַמָּק֣וֹם place lam·mā·qō·wm קָרָ֖א was called qā·rā נַ֣חַל the Valley na·ḥal אֶשְׁכּ֑וֹל of Eshcol . ’eš·kō·wl Numbers 13:25 מִקֵּ֖ץ After miq·qêṣ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים forty ’ar·bā·‘îm יֽוֹם׃ days yō·wm וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ [the men] returned way·yā·šu·ḇū מִתּ֣וּר from spying out mit·tūr הָאָ֑רֶץ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ Numbers 13:26 וַיֵּלְכ֡וּ and they went back way·yê·lə·ḵū וַיָּבֹאוּ֩ . . . way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֨ה Moses , mō·šeh וְאֶֽל־ - wə·’el- אַהֲרֹ֜ן Aaron , ’a·hă·rōn וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- כָּל־ and the whole kāl- עֲדַ֧ת congregation ‘ă·ḏaṯ בְּנֵֽי־ . . . bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl אֶל־ in ’el- מִדְבַּ֥ר the Wilderness miḏ·bar פָּארָ֖ן of Paran pā·rān קָדֵ֑שָׁה at Kadesh . qā·ḏê·šāh וַיָּשִׁ֨יבוּ They brought back way·yā·šî·ḇū אוֹתָ֤ם - ’ō·w·ṯām דָּבָר֙ a report dā·ḇār וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- כָּל־ for the whole kāl- הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה congregation hā·‘ê·ḏāh וַיַּרְא֖וּם and showed way·yar·’ūm אֶת־ them ’eṯ- פְּרִ֥י the fruit pə·rî הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the land . hā·’ā·reṣ Numbers 13:27 וַיְסַפְּרוּ־ And they gave this account way·sap·pə·rū- לוֹ֙ to [Moses] lōw וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ . . . : way·yō·mə·rū בָּ֕אנוּ “ We went bā·nū אֶל־ into ’el- הָאָ֖רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ
