Yah·weh אַהֲרֹ֖ן Aaron ’a·hă·rōn וַיְכַפֵּ֧ר also made atonement way·ḵap·pêr עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם for them ‘ă·lê·hem לְטַהֲרָֽם׃ to cleanse them . lə·ṭa·hă·rām Numbers 8:22 וְאַחֲרֵי־ After wə·’a·ḥă·rê- כֵ֞ן that , ḵên הַלְוִיִּ֗ם the Levites hal·wî·yim בָּ֣אוּ came bā·’ū לַעֲבֹ֤ד to perform la·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ ’eṯ- עֲבֹֽדָתָם֙ their service ‘ă·ḇō·ḏā·ṯām בְּאֹ֣הֶל at the Tent bə·’ō·hel מוֹעֵ֔ד of Meeting mō·w·‘êḏ לִפְנֵ֥י in the presence lip̄·nê אַהֲרֹ֖ן of Aaron ’a·hă·rōn וְלִפְנֵ֣י . . . wə·lip̄·nê בָנָ֑יו and his sons . ḇā·nāw כֵּ֖ן Thus kên עָשׂ֥וּ they did ‘ā·śū הַלְוִיִּ֔ם with the Levites hal·wî·yim לָהֶֽם׃ס lā·hem כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ just as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צִוָּ֨ה had commanded ṣiw·wāh מֹשֶׁה֙ Moses mō·šeh עַל־ - . ‘al- Numbers 8:23 יְהוָ֖ה And YHWH Yah·weh וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר said way·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mō·šeh לֵּאמֹֽר׃ - , lê·mōr Numbers 8:24 זֹ֖את “ This zōṯ אֲשֶׁ֣ר applies ’ă·šer לַלְוִיִּ֑ם to the Levites : lal·wî·yim חָמֵ֨שׁ Men twenty-five ḥā·mêš וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים . . . wə·‘eś·rîm מִבֶּן֩ years of age mib·ben שָׁנָה֙ . . . šā·nāh וָמַ֔עְלָה or older wā·ma‘·lāh יָבוֹא֙ shall enter yā·ḇō·w לִצְבֹ֣א to perform liṣ·ḇō צָבָ֔א the service ṣā·ḇā בַּעֲבֹדַ֖ת in the work ba·‘ă·ḇō·ḏaṯ אֹ֥הֶל at the Tent ’ō·hel מוֹעֵֽד׃ of Meeting . mō·w·‘êḏ Numbers 8:25 וּמִבֶּן֙ But at the age ū·mib·ben חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים of fifty , ḥă·miš·šîm
