לְהֵ֖חַלּֽוֹ׃ and so profane himself . lə·hê·ḥal·lōw Leviticus 21:5 לֹֽא־ Priests must not lō- יִקְרְחָה make bald yiq·rə·ḥå̄h קָרְחָה֙ . . . qā·rə·ḥāh בְּרֹאשָׁ֔ם spots on their heads , bə·rō·šām וּפְאַ֥ת shave off the edges ū·p̄ə·’aṯ זְקָנָ֖ם of their beards , zə·qā·nām לֹ֣א . . . lō יְגַלֵּ֑חוּ . . . yə·ḡal·lê·ḥū יִשְׂרְט֖וּ or make yiś·rə·ṭū שָׂרָֽטֶת׃ cuts śā·rā·ṭeṯ וּבִ֨בְשָׂרָ֔ם in their bodies . ū·ḇiḇ·śā·rām לֹ֥א . . . lō Leviticus 21:6 יִהְיוּ֙ They must be yih·yū קְדֹשִׁ֤ים holy qə·ḏō·šîm לֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם to their God lê·lō·hê·hem וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō יְחַלְּל֔וּ profane yə·ḥal·lə·lū שֵׁ֖ם the name šêm אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם of their God . ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem כִּי֩ Because kî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הֵ֥ם they hêm מַקְרִיבִ֖ם present maq·rî·ḇim יְהוָ֜ה to YHWH Yah·weh אִשֵּׁ֨י the offerings made by fire , ’iš·šê לֶ֧חֶם the food le·ḥem אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֛ם of their God , ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem וְהָ֥יוּ they must be wə·hā·yū קֹֽדֶשׁ׃ holy . qō·ḏeš Leviticus 21:7 לֹ֣א [A priest] must not lō יִקָּ֔חוּ marry yiq·qā·ḥū וְאִשָּׁ֛ה . . . wə·’iš·šāh אִשָּׁ֨ה a woman ’iš·šāh וַחֲלָלָה֙ defiled wa·ḥă·lā·lāh זֹנָ֤ה by prostitution zō·nāh לֹ֣א or lō יִקָּ֑חוּ - yiq·qā·ḥū גְּרוּשָׁ֥ה divorced gə·rū·šāh מֵאִישָׁ֖הּ by her husband , mê·’î·šāh כִּֽי־ for kî- ה֖וּא [the priest] hū קָדֹ֥שׁ is holy qā·ḏōš לֵאלֹהָֽיו׃ to his God . lê·lō·hāw Leviticus 21:8 וְקִדַּשְׁתּ֔וֹ You are to regard him as holy , wə·qid·daš·tōw כִּֽי־ since kî- אֶת־ - ’eṯ- ה֣וּא he hū מַקְרִ֑יב presents maq·rîḇ לֶ֥חֶם the food le·ḥem אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ of your God . ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā יִֽהְיֶה־ He shall be yih·yeh- קָדֹשׁ֙ holy qā·ḏōš לָּ֔ךְ to you , lāḵ כִּ֣י because kî אֲנִ֥י I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh קָד֔וֹשׁ am holy — qā·ḏō·wōš מְקַדִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ I who set you apart . mə·qad·diš·ḵem Leviticus 21:9 כִּ֥י If kî כֹּהֵ֔ן a priest’s kō·hên וּבַת֙ daughter ū·ḇaṯ אִ֣ישׁ . . . ’îš תֵחֵ֖ל defiles herself ṯê·ḥêl לִזְנ֑וֹת by prostituting herself , liz·nō·wṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הִ֣יא she hî מְחַלֶּ֔לֶת profanes mə·ḥal·le·leṯ אָבִ֙יהָ֙ her father ; ’ā·ḇî·hā תִּשָּׂרֵֽף׃ס she must be burned tiś·śā·rêp̄ בָּאֵ֖שׁ in the fire . bā·’êš Leviticus 21:10 וְהַכֹּהֵן֩ The priest wə·hak·kō·hên הַגָּד֨וֹל who is highest hag·gā·ḏō·wl מֵאֶחָ֜יו among his brothers , mê·’e·ḥāw אֲ who ’ăšer- הַמִּשְׁחָה֙ has had the anointing ham·miš·ḥāh שֶׁ֤מֶן oil še·men יוּצַ֥ק poured yū·ṣaq עַל־ on ‘al- רֹאשׁ֣וֹ׀ his head rō·šōw וּמִלֵּ֣א and has been ordained ū·mil·lê אֶת־ - ’eṯ-
