בְּדֵי־ only feeds bə·ḏê- אֵ֔שׁ the fire , ’êš וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים and the nations ū·lə·’um·mîm יִעָֽפוּ׃ weary themselves yi·‘ā·p̄ū בְּדֵי־ in bə·ḏê- רִ֥יק vain ? rîq Habakkuk 2:14 כִּ֚י For kî הָאָ֔רֶץ the earth hā·’ā·reṣ תִּמָּלֵ֣א will be filled tim·mā·lê לָדַ֖עַת with the knowledge lā·ḏa·‘aṯ אֶת־ of ’eṯ- כְּב֣וֹד the glory kə·ḇō·wḏ יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH Yah·weh כַּמַּ֖יִם as the waters kam·ma·yim יְכַסּ֥וּ cover yə·ḵas·sū עַל־ . . . ‘al- יָֽם׃ס the sea . yām Habakkuk 2:15 ה֚וֹי Woe hō·w מַשְׁקֵ֣ה to him who gives drink maš·qêh רֵעֵ֔הוּ to his neighbors , rê·‘ê·hū מְסַפֵּ֥חַ pouring it mə·sap·pê·aḥ חֲמָתְךָ֖ from the wineskin ḥă·mā·ṯə·ḵā וְאַ֣ף until wə·’ap̄ שַׁכֵּ֑ר they are drunk , šak·kêr לְמַ֥עַן in order to lə·ma·‘an הַבִּ֖יט gaze hab·bîṭ עַל־ at ‘al- מְעוֹרֵיהֶֽם׃ their nakedness ! mə·‘ō·w·rê·hem Habakkuk 2:16 שָׂבַ֤עְתָּ You will be filled śā·ḇa‘·tā קָלוֹן֙ with shame qā·lō·wn מִכָּב֔וֹד instead of glory . mik·kā·ḇō·wḏ אַ֖תָּה You ’at·tāh גַם־ too ḡam- שְׁתֵ֥ה must drink šə·ṯêh וְהֵֽעָרֵ֑ל and expose your uncircumcision ! wə·hê·‘ā·rêl כּ֚וֹס The cup kō·ws יְהוָ֔ה in YHWH’s Yah·weh יְמִ֣ין right hand yə·mîn תִּסּ֣וֹב will come around tis·sō·wḇ עָלֶ֗יךָ to you , ‘ā·le·ḵā וְקִיקָל֖וֹן and utter disgrace wə·qî·qā·lō·wn עַל־ . . . ‘al- כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ will cover your glory . kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā Habakkuk 2:17 כִּ֣י For kî חֲמַ֤ס your violence ḥă·mas לְבָנוֹן֙ against Lebanon lə·ḇā·nō·wn יְכַסֶּ֔ךָּ will overwhelm you , yə·ḵas·se·kā וְשֹׁ֥ד and the destruction wə·šōḏ בְּהֵמ֖וֹת of animals bə·hê·mō·wṯ יְחִיתַ֑ן will terrify you , yə·ḥî·ṯan מִדְּמֵ֤י because of your bloodshed mid·də·mê אָדָם֙ against men ’ā·ḏām וַחֲמַס־ and your violence wa·ḥă·mas- אֶ֔רֶץ against the land , ’e·reṣ קִרְיָ֖ה the city , qir·yāh וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl יֹ֥שְׁבֵי their dwellers yō·šə·ḇê בָֽהּ׃ס . . . . ḇāh Habakkuk 2:18 מָֽה־ What māh- הוֹעִ֣יל use hō·w·‘îl פֶּ֗סֶל is an idol , pe·sel כִּ֤י that kî יֹֽצְר֔וֹ a craftsman yō·ṣə·rōw פְסָלוֹ֙ should carve it — p̄ə·sā·lōw מַסֵּכָ֖ה [or] an image , mas·sê·ḵāh וּמ֣וֹרֶה a teacher ū·mō·w·reh שָּׁ֑קֶר of lies ? šā·qer כִּ֣י For kî יֹצֵ֤ר its maker yō·ṣêr בָטַ֞ח trusts ḇā·ṭaḥ יִצְרוֹ֙ in his own creation yiṣ·rōw עָלָ֔יו . . . ; ‘ā·lāw לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת he makes la·‘ă·śō·wṯ אֱלִילִ֥ים idols ’ĕ·lî·lîm אִלְּמִֽים׃ס that cannot speak . ’il·lə·mîm Habakkuk 2:19 ה֣וֹי Woe hō·w אֹמֵ֤ר to him who says ’ō·mêr לָעֵץ֙ to wood , lā·‘êṣ הָקִ֔יצָה ‘ Awake ! ’ hā·qî·ṣāh דּוּמָ֑ם or to silent dū·mām לְאֶ֣בֶן stone , lə·’e·ḇen ע֖וּרִי ‘ Arise ! ’ ‘ū·rî
