רָעָ֖ב a famine rā·‘āḇ בָּאָ֑רֶץ on the land — bā·’ā·reṣ לֹֽא־ not lō- רָעָ֤ב a famine rā·‘āḇ לַלֶּ֙חֶם֙ of bread lal·le·ḥem וְלֹֽא־ . . . wə·lō- צָמָ֣א or a thirst ṣā·mā לַמַּ֔יִם for water , lam·ma·yim כִּ֣י but [a famine] kî אִם־ . . . ’im- לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ of hearing liš·mō·a‘ אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ דִּבְרֵ֥י the words diḇ·rê יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh Amos 8:12 וְנָעוּ֙ People will stagger wə·nā·‘ū מִיָּ֣ם from sea mî·yām עַד־ to ‘aḏ- יָ֔ם sea yām יְשֽׁוֹטְט֛וּ and roam yə·šō·wṭ·ṭū וּמִצָּפ֖וֹן from north ū·miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn וְעַד־ to wə·‘aḏ- מִזְרָ֑ח east , miz·rāḥ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ seeking lə·ḇaq·qêš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דְּבַר־ the word də·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וְלֹ֥א but they will not wə·lō יִמְצָֽאוּ׃ find it . yim·ṣā·’ū Amos 8:13 הַה֜וּא In that ha·hū בַּיּ֨וֹם day bay·yō·wm הַיָּפ֛וֹת the lovely hay·yā·p̄ō·wṯ הַבְּתוּלֹ֧ת young women — hab·bə·ṯū·lōṯ וְהַבַּחוּרִ֖ים the young men as well — wə·hab·ba·ḥū·rîm תִּ֠תְעַלַּפְנָה will faint tiṯ·‘al·lap̄·nāh בַּצָּמָֽא׃ from thirst . baṣ·ṣā·mā Amos 8:14 הַנִּשְׁבָּעִים֙ Those who swear han·niš·bā·‘îm בְּאַשְׁמַ֣ת by the guilt bə·’aš·maṯ שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן of Samaria šō·mə·rō·wn וְאָמְר֗וּ and say , wə·’ā·mə·rū אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ ‘ As surely as your god ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā חֵ֤י lives , ḥê דָּ֔ן O Dan , ’ dān דֶּ֣רֶךְ or, ‘As surely as the way de·reḵ בְּאֵֽר־ vvv bə·’êr- שָׁ֑בַע of Beersheba šā·ḇa‘ וְחֵ֖י lives ’— wə·ḥê וְנָפְל֖וּ they will fall , wə·nā·p̄ə·lū וְלֹא־ never wə·lō- יָק֥וּמוּ to rise yā·qū·mū עֽוֹד׃ס again . ” ‘ō·wḏ Amos 9:1 רָאִ֨יתִי I saw rā·’î·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲדֹנָ֜י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy נִצָּ֣ב standing niṣ·ṣāḇ עַֽל־ beside ‘al- הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ the altar , ham·miz·bê·aḥ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ and He said : way·yō·mer הַ֨ךְ “ Strike haḵ הַכַּפְתּ֜וֹר the tops of the pillars hak·kap̄·tō·wr הַסִּפִּ֗ים so that the thresholds has·sip·pîm וְיִרְעֲשׁ֣וּ shake . wə·yir·‘ă·šū וּבְצַ֙עַם֙ Topple them ū·ḇə·ṣa·‘am בְּרֹ֣אשׁ on the heads bə·rōš כֻּלָּ֔ם of all the people , kul·lām אֶהֱרֹ֑ג and I will kill ’e·hĕ·rōḡ וְאַחֲרִיתָ֖ם the rest wə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯām בַּחֶ֣רֶב with the sword . ba·ḥe·reḇ לֹֽא־ None lō- יָנ֤וּס of those who flee yā·nūs לָהֶם֙ lā·hem נָ֔ס will get away ; nās וְלֹֽא־ none wə·lō- פָּלִֽיט׃ of the fugitives pā·lîṭ יִמָּלֵ֥ט will escape yim·mā·lêṭ לָהֶ֖ם . lā·hem Amos 9:2 אִם־ Though ’im- יַחְתְּר֣וּ they dig down yaḥ·tə·rū בִשְׁא֔וֹל to Sheol , ḇiš·’ō·wl מִשָּׁ֖ם from there miš·šām יָדִ֣י My hand yā·ḏî תִקָּחֵ֑ם will take them ; ṯiq·qā·ḥêm וְאִֽם־ and though wə·’im- יַעֲלוּ֙ they climb up ya·‘ă·lū הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם to heaven , haš·šā·ma·yim מִשָּׁ֖ם from there miš·šām
