לְהַקְטִ֤ין Let us reduce lə·haq·ṭîn אֵיפָה֙ the ephah ’ê·p̄āh וּלְהַגְדִּ֣יל and increase ū·lə·haḡ·dîl שֶׁ֔קֶל the shekel ; še·qel וּלְעַוֵּ֖ת let us cheat ū·lə·‘aw·wêṯ מִרְמָֽה׃ with dishonest mir·māh מֹאזְנֵ֥י scales . mō·zə·nê Amos 8:6 לִקְנ֤וֹת Let us buy liq·nō·wṯ דַּלִּ֔ים the poor dal·lîm בַּכֶּ֙סֶף֙ with silver bak·ke·sep̄ וְאֶבְי֖וֹן and the needy wə·’eḇ·yō·wn בַּעֲב֣וּר for ba·‘ă·ḇūr נַעֲלָ֑יִם a pair of sandals , na·‘ă·lā·yim נַשְׁבִּֽיר׃ selling naš·bîr וּמַפַּ֥ל even the chaff ū·map·pal בַּ֖ר with the wheat ! ” bar Amos 8:7 יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh נִשְׁבַּ֥ע has sworn niš·ba‘ בִּגְא֣וֹן by the Pride biḡ·’ō·wn יַעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob : ya·‘ă·qōḇ אִם־ “ I will never ’im- לָנֶ֖צַח . . . lā·ne·ṣaḥ אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח forget ’eš·kaḥ כָּל־ any kāl- מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ of their deeds . ma·‘ă·śê·hem Amos 8:8 לֹֽא־ Will not lō- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ תִרְגַּ֣ז quake ṯir·gaz הַ֤עַל for ha·‘al זֹאת֙ this , zōṯ כָּל־ and all kāl- יוֹשֵׁ֣ב its dwellers yō·wō·šêḇ בָּ֑הּ bāh וְאָבַ֖ל mourn ? wə·’ā·ḇal כֻּלָּ֔הּ All of it kul·lāh וְעָלְתָ֤ה will swell wə·‘ā·lə·ṯāh כָאֹר֙ like the Nile ; ḵā·’ōr וְנִגְרְשָׁ֥ה it will surge wə·niḡ·rə·šāh וְנִשְׁקָה and then subside wə·niš·qå̄h כִּיא֥וֹר like the Nile kî·’ō·wr מִצְרָֽיִם׃ס in Egypt . miṣ·rā·yim Amos 8:9 וְהָיָ֣ה׀ - wə·hā·yāh הַה֗וּא And in that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day , bay·yō·wm נְאֻם֙ declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ I will make the sun haš·še·meš וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י go down wə·hê·ḇê·ṯî בַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִם at noon , baṣ·ṣā·ho·rā·yim וְהַחֲשַׁכְתִּ֥י and I will darken wə·ha·ḥă·šaḵ·tî לָאָ֖רֶץ the earth lā·’ā·reṣ בְּי֥וֹם in the daytime bə·yō·wm אֽוֹר׃ . . . . ’ō·wr Amos 8:10 וְהָפַכְתִּ֨י I will turn wə·hā·p̄aḵ·tî חַגֵּיכֶ֜ם your feasts ḥag·gê·ḵem לְאֵ֗בֶל into mourning lə·’ê·ḇel וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl שִֽׁירֵיכֶם֙ your songs šî·rê·ḵem לְקִינָ֔ה into lamentation . lə·qî·nāh כָּל־ I will cause everyone kāl- וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י to wear wə·ha·‘ă·lê·ṯî עַל־ . . . ‘al- מָתְנַ֙יִם֙ . . . mā·ṯə·na·yim שָׂ֔ק sackcloth śāq וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- כָּל־ and every kāl- רֹ֖אשׁ head rōš קָרְחָ֑ה to be shaved . qā·rə·ḥāh וְשַׂמְתִּ֙יהָ֙ I will make it like wə·śam·tî·hā כְּאֵ֣בֶל a time of mourning kə·’ê·ḇel יָחִ֔יד for an only son , yā·ḥîḏ וְאַחֲרִיתָ֖הּ and its outcome wə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯāh מָֽר׃ like a bitter mār כְּי֥וֹם day . kə·yō·wm Amos 8:11 הִנֵּ֣ה׀ Behold , hin·nêh יָמִ֣ים the days yā·mîm בָּאִ֗ים are coming , bā·’îm נְאֻם֙ declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh וְהִשְׁלַחְתִּ֥י when I will send wə·hiš·laḥ·tî
