קֹ֖דֶשׁ holy qō·ḏeš וְאַנְשֵׁי־ people . wə·’an·šê- לֹ֣א You must not lō תֹאכֵ֔לוּ eat ṯō·ḵê·lū וּבָשָׂ֨ר the meat ū·ḇā·śār טְרֵפָה֙ of a mauled animal ṭə·rê·p̄āh בַּשָּׂדֶ֤ה found in the field ; baś·śā·ḏeh תַּשְׁלִכ֥וּן you are to throw taš·li·ḵūn אֹתֽוֹ׃ס it ’ō·ṯōw לַכֶּ֖לֶב to the dogs . [’’] lak·ke·leḇ Exodus 23:1 לֹ֥א [“] You shall not lō תִשָּׂ֖א spread ṯiś·śā שָׁ֑וְא a false šāw שֵׁ֣מַע report . šê·ma‘ אַל־ Do not ’al- תָּ֤שֶׁת join tā·šeṯ יָֽדְךָ֙ . . . yā·ḏə·ḵā עִם־ . . . ‘im- רָשָׁ֔ע the wicked rā·šā‘ לִהְיֹ֖ת by being lih·yōṯ חָמָֽס׃ס a malicious ḥā·mās עֵ֥ד witness . ‘êḏ Exodus 23:2 לֹֽא־ You shall not lō- תִהְיֶ֥ה follow ṯih·yeh אַחֲרֵֽי־ . . . ’a·ḥă·rê- רַבִּ֖ים the crowd rab·bîm לְרָעֹ֑ת in wrongdoing . lə·rā·‘ōṯ תַעֲנֶ֣ה When you testify ṯa·‘ă·neh עַל־ in ‘al- רִ֗ב a lawsuit , riḇ וְלֹא־ do not wə·lō- לְהַטֹּֽת׃ pervert justice lə·haṭ·ṭōṯ לִנְטֹ֛ת by siding lin·ṭōṯ אַחֲרֵ֥י with ’a·ḥă·rê רַבִּ֖ים the crowd . rab·bîm Exodus 23:3 לֹ֥א And do not lō תֶהְדַּ֖ר show favoritism ṯeh·dar וְדָ֕ל to a poor man wə·ḏāl בְּרִיבֽוֹ׃ס in his lawsuit . bə·rî·ḇōw Exodus 23:4 כִּ֣י If kî תִפְגַּ֞ע you encounter ṯip̄·ga‘ אֹֽיִבְךָ֛ your enemy’s ’ō·yiḇ·ḵā תֹּעֶ֑ה stray tō·‘eh שׁ֧וֹר ox šō·wr א֥וֹ or ’ōw חֲמֹר֖וֹ donkey , ḥă·mō·rōw הָשֵׁ֥ב you must return it hā·šêḇ תְּשִׁיבֶ֖נּוּ tə·šî·ḇen·nū לֽוֹ׃ס to him . lōw Exodus 23:5 כִּֽי־ If kî- תִרְאֶ֞ה you see ṯir·’eh חֲמ֣וֹר the donkey ḥă·mō·wr שֹׂנַאֲךָ֗ of one who hates you śō·na·’ă·ḵā רֹבֵץ֙ fallen rō·ḇêṣ תַּ֣חַת under ta·ḥaṯ מַשָּׂא֔וֹ its load , maś·śā·’ōw וְחָדַלְתָּ֖ do not wə·ḥā·ḏal·tā מֵעֲזֹ֣ב leave mê·‘ă·zōḇ ל֑וֹ it there ; lōw עָזֹ֥ב you must help him ‘ā·zōḇ תַּעֲזֹ֖ב . . . ta·‘ă·zōḇ עִמּֽוֹ׃ס with it . ‘im·mōw Exodus 23:6 לֹ֥א You shall not lō תַטֶּ֛ה deny ṯaṭ·ṭeh מִשְׁפַּ֥ט justice miš·paṭ אֶבְיֹנְךָ֖ to the poor ’eḇ·yō·nə·ḵā בְּרִיבֽוֹ׃ in their lawsuits . bə·rî·ḇōw Exodus 23:7 תִּרְחָ֑ק Stay far away tir·ḥāq שֶׁ֖קֶר from a false še·qer מִדְּבַר־ accusation . mid·də·ḇar- אַֽל־ Do not ’al- תַּהֲרֹ֔ג kill ta·hă·rōḡ וְנָקִ֤י the innocent wə·nā·qî וְצַדִּיק֙ or the just , wə·ṣad·dîq כִּ֥י for kî לֹא־ I will not lō- אַצְדִּ֖יק acquit ’aṣ·dîq רָשָֽׁע׃ the guilty . rā·šā‘
