כִּ֣י when kî תִזְנֶ֗ינָה they prostitute themselves , ṯiz·ne·nāh וְעַל־ nor wə·‘al- כַּלּֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ your daughters-in-law kal·lō·w·ṯê·ḵem כִּ֣י when kî תְנָאַ֔פְנָה they commit adultery . ṯə·nā·’ap̄·nāh כִּי־ For kî- הֵם֙ the men themselves hêm יְפָרֵ֔דוּ go off yə·p̄ā·rê·ḏū עִם־ with ‘im- הַזֹּנ֣וֹת prostitutes haz·zō·nō·wṯ יְזַבֵּ֑חוּ and offer sacrifices yə·zab·bê·ḥū וְעִם־ with wə·‘im- הַקְּדֵשׁ֖וֹת shrine prostitutes . haq·qə·ḏê·šō·wṯ וְעָ֥ם So a people wə·‘ām לֹֽא־ without lō- יָבִ֖ין understanding yā·ḇîn יִלָּבֵֽט׃ will come to ruin . yil·lā·ḇêṭ Hosea 4:15 אִם־ Though ’im- אַתָּה֙ you ’at·tāh זֹנֶ֤ה prostitute yourself , zō·neh יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל O Israel , yiś·rā·’êl יְהוּדָ֑ה may Judah yə·hū·ḏāh אַל־ avoid ’al- יֶאְשַׁ֖ם such guilt ! ye’·šam וְאַל־ Do not wə·’al- תָּבֹ֣אוּ journey tā·ḇō·’ū הַגִּלְגָּ֗ל to Gilgal , hag·gil·gāl תַּעֲלוּ֙ do not go up ta·‘ă·lū בֵּ֣ית vvv bêṯ אָ֔וֶן to Beth-aven , ’ā·wen וְאַל־ . . . wə·’al- וְאַֽל־ and do not wə·’al- תִּשָּׁבְע֖וּ swear on oath , tiš·šā·ḇə·‘ū יְהוָֽה׃ ‘ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives ! ’ ḥay- Hosea 4:16 כִּ֚י For kî יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl סֹֽרֵרָ֔ה is as obstinate sō·rê·rāh סָרַ֖ר as a stubborn sā·rar כְּפָרָ֣ה heifer . kə·p̄ā·rāh יְהוָ֔ה Can YHWH Yah·weh עַתָּה֙ now ‘at·tāh יִרְעֵ֣ם shepherd them yir·‘êm כְּכֶ֖בֶשׂ like lambs kə·ḵe·ḇeś בַּמֶּרְחָֽב׃ in an open meadow ? bam·mer·ḥāḇ Hosea 4:17 אֶפְרָ֖יִם Ephraim ’ep̄·rā·yim חֲב֧וּר is joined ḥă·ḇūr עֲצַבִּ֛ים to idols ; ‘ă·ṣab·bîm הַֽנַּֽח־ leave him alone han·naḥ- לֽוֹ׃ ! lōw Hosea 4:18 סָבְאָ֑ם When their liquor sā·ḇə·’ām סָ֖ר is gone , sār הַזְנֵ֣ה they turn to prostitution haz·nêh הִזְנ֔וּ . . . ; hiz·nū מָגִנֶּֽיהָ׃ their rulers mā·ḡin·ne·hā הֵב֛וּ dearly hê·ḇū אָהֲב֥וּ love ’ā·hă·ḇū קָל֖וֹן disgrace . qā·lō·wn Hosea 4:19 ר֛וּחַ The whirlwind rū·aḥ צָרַ֥ר has wrapped ṣā·rar אוֹתָ֖הּ them ’ō·w·ṯāh בִּכְנָפֶ֑יהָ in its wings , biḵ·nā·p̄e·hā מִזִּבְחוֹתָֽםס and their sacrifices miz·ziḇ·ḥō·ṯå̄·ms וְיֵבֹ֖שׁוּ will bring them shame . [’’] wə·yê·ḇō·šū Hosea 5:1 שִׁמְעוּ־ [“] Hear šim·‘ū- זֹ֨את this , zōṯ הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים O priests ! hak·kō·hă·nîm וְהַקְשִׁ֣יבוּ׀ Take heed , wə·haq·šî·ḇū בֵּ֣ית O house bêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel ! yiś·rā·’êl הַאֲזִ֔ינוּ Give ear , ha·’ă·zî·nū הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ O royal ham·me·leḵ וּבֵ֤ית house ! ū·ḇêṯ כִּ֥י For kî הַמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט this judgment ham·miš·pāṭ לָכֶ֖ם is against you lā·ḵem כִּֽי־ because kî- הֱיִיתֶ֣ם you have been hĕ·yî·ṯem פַח֙ a snare p̄aḥ לְמִצְפָּ֔ה at Mizpah , lə·miṣ·pāh וְרֶ֖שֶׁת a net wə·re·šeṯ
