Hosea 4:1 שִׁמְע֥וּ Hear šim·‘ū דְבַר־ the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH , Yah·weh בְּנֵ֣י O children bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl כִּ֣י for kî לַֽיהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh רִ֤יב has a case rîḇ עִם־ against ‘im- יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י the people yō·wō·šə·ḇê הָאָ֔רֶץ of the land : hā·’ā·reṣ כִּ֠י “ . . . kî אֵין־ There is no ’ên- אֱמֶ֧ת truth , ’ĕ·meṯ וְֽאֵין־ no wə·’ên- חֶ֛סֶד loving devotion , ḥe·seḏ וְאֵֽין־ and no wə·’ên- דַּ֥עַת knowledge da·‘aṯ אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God ’ĕ·lō·hîm בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ in the land ! bā·’ā·reṣ Hosea 4:2 אָלֹ֣ה Cursing ’ā·lōh וְכַחֵ֔שׁ and lying , wə·ḵa·ḥêš וְרָצֹ֥חַ murder wə·rā·ṣō·aḥ וְגָנֹ֖ב and stealing , wə·ḡā·nōḇ וְנָאֹ֑ף and adultery wə·nā·’ōp̄ פָּרָ֕צוּ are rampant ; pā·rā·ṣū וְדָמִ֥ים one act of bloodshed wə·ḏā·mîm בְּדָמִ֖ים . . . bə·ḏā·mîm נָגָֽעוּ׃ follows another . nā·ḡā·‘ū Hosea 4:3 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֣ן׀ . . . kên הָאָ֗רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ תֶּאֱבַ֣ל mourns , te·’ĕ·ḇal כָּל־ and all kāl- יוֹשֵׁ֣ב who dwell yō·wō·šêḇ בָּ֔הּ in it bāh וְאֻמְלַל֙ will waste away wə·’um·lal בְּחַיַּ֥ת with the beasts bə·ḥay·yaṯ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה of the field haś·śā·ḏeh וּבְע֣וֹף and the birds ū·ḇə·‘ō·wp̄ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם of the air ; haš·šā·mā·yim וְגַם־ even wə·ḡam- דְּגֵ֥י the fish də·ḡê הַיָּ֖ם of the sea hay·yām יֵאָסֵֽפוּ׃ disappear . yê·’ā·sê·p̄ū Hosea 4:4 אַ֥ךְ But ’aḵ אַל־ let no ’al- אִ֛ישׁ man ’îš יָרֵ֖ב contend ; yā·rêḇ וְאַל־ let no wə·’al- אִ֑ישׁ man ’îš יוֹכַ֣ח offer reproof ; yō·w·ḵaḥ וְעַמְּךָ֖ for your people [are] like those wə·‘am·mə·ḵā כִּמְרִיבֵ֥י who contend with kim·rî·ḇê כֹהֵֽן׃ a priest . ḵō·hên Hosea 4:5 וְכָשַׁלְתָּ֣ You will stumble wə·ḵā·šal·tā הַיּ֔וֹם by day , hay·yō·wm נָבִ֛יא and the prophet nā·ḇî גַּם־ . . . gam- וְכָשַׁ֧ל will stumble wə·ḵā·šal עִמְּךָ֖ with you ‘im·mə·ḵā לָ֑יְלָה by night ; lā·yə·lāh וְדָמִ֖יתִי so I will destroy wə·ḏā·mî·ṯî אִמֶּֽךָ׃ your mother — ’im·me·ḵā Hosea 4:6 עַמִּ֖י My people ‘am·mî נִדְמ֥וּ are destroyed niḏ·mū מִבְּלִ֣י for lack mib·bə·lî הַדָּ֑עַת of knowledge . had·dā·‘aṯ כִּֽי־ Because kî- אַתָּ֞ה you ’at·tāh מָאַ֗סְתָּ have rejected mā·’as·tā הַדַּ֣עַת knowledge , had·da·‘aṯ וְאֶמְאָֽסְאךָ֙ I will also reject you wə·’em·’ā·sə·ḵā מִכַּהֵ֣ן as My priests mik·ka·hên לִ֔י . lî וַתִּשְׁכַּח֙ Since you have forgotten wat·tiš·kaḥ תּוֹרַ֣ת the law tō·w·raṯ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ of your God , ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā אָֽנִי׃ I ’ā·nî גַּם־ will also gam- אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח forget ’eš·kaḥ בָּנֶ֖יךָ your children . bā·ne·ḵā
