כִּי־ . . . , kî- זֶ֔ה ‘ This zeh ה֣וּא is mine , ’ hū שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם both parties šə·nê·hem אֲשֶׁ֤ר - ’ă·šer יָבֹ֖א shall bring yā·ḇō דְּבַר־ their cases də·ḇar- עַ֚ד before ‘aḏ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים the judges . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֱלֹהִ֔ים The one whom the judges ’ĕ·lō·hîm יַרְשִׁיעֻן֙ find guilty yar·šî·‘un יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם must pay back yə·šal·lêm שְׁנַ֖יִם double šə·na·yim לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ס to his neighbor . lə·rê·‘ê·hū Exodus 22:10 כִּֽי־ If kî- אִ֨ישׁ a man ’îš אֶל־ . . . ’el- יִתֵּן֩ gives yit·tên חֲמ֨וֹר a donkey , ḥă·mō·wr אוֹ־ ’ōw- שׁ֥וֹר an ox , šō·wr אוֹ־ - ’ōw- שֶׂ֛ה a sheep , śeh וְכָל־ or any wə·ḵāl בְּהֵמָ֖ה other animal bə·hê·māh לִשְׁמֹ֑ר to be cared for liš·mōr רֵעֵ֜הוּ by his neighbor , rê·‘ê·hū וּמֵ֛ת but it dies ū·mêṯ אוֹ־ or ’ōw- נִשְׁבַּ֥ר is injured niš·bar אוֹ־ or ’ōw- נִשְׁבָּ֖ה stolen niš·bāh אֵ֥ין while no ’ên רֹאֶֽה׃ one is watching , rō·’eh Exodus 22:11 שְׁבֻעַ֣ת an oath šə·ḇu·‘aṯ יְהוָ֗ה before YHWH Yah·weh תִּהְיֶה֙ shall be made tih·yeh בֵּ֣ין between bên שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם the parties šə·nê·hem אִם־ to determine whether ’im- לֹ֥א or not lō שָׁלַ֛ח the man has taken šā·laḥ יָד֖וֹ . . . yā·ḏōw רֵעֵ֑הוּ his neighbor’s rê·‘ê·hū בִּמְלֶ֣אכֶת property . bim·le·ḵeṯ בְּעָלָ֖יו The owner bə·‘ā·lāw וְלָקַ֥ח must accept [the oath] wə·lā·qaḥ וְלֹ֥א and require no wə·lō יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ restitution . yə·šal·lêm Exodus 22:12 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- גָּנֹ֥ב [the animal] was actually gā·nōḇ יִגָּנֵ֖ב stolen yig·gā·nêḇ מֵעִמּ֑וֹ from [the neighbor] , mê·‘im·mōw יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם he must make restitution yə·šal·lêm לִבְעָלָֽיו׃ to the owner . liḇ·‘ā·lāw Exodus 22:13 אִם־ If ’im- טָרֹ֥ף [the animal] was torn to pieces ṭā·rōp̄ יִטָּרֵ֖ף . . . , yiṭ·ṭā·rêp̄ יְבִאֵ֣הוּ he shall bring yə·ḇi·’ê·hū עֵ֑ד it as evidence ; ‘êḏ לֹ֥א he need not lō יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃פ make restitution yə·šal·lêm הַטְּרֵפָ֖ה for the torn carcass . haṭ·ṭə·rê·p̄āh Exodus 22:14 וְכִֽי־ If wə·ḵî- אִ֛ישׁ a man ’îš יִשְׁאַ֥ל borrows yiš·’al מֵעִ֥ם [an animal] mê·‘im רֵעֵ֖הוּ from his neighbor rê·‘ê·hū וְנִשְׁבַּ֣ר and it is injured wə·niš·bar אוֹ־ or ’ōw- מֵ֑ת dies mêṯ בְּעָלָ֥יו while its owner bə·‘ā·lāw אֵין־ is not ’ên- עִמּ֖וֹ present , ‘im·mōw שַׁלֵּ֥ם he must make full restitution šal·lêm יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ . . . . yə·šal·lêm Exodus 22:15 אִם־ If ’im- בְּעָלָ֥יו the owner bə·‘ā·lāw עִמּ֖וֹ was present , ‘im·mōw לֹ֣א no lō יְשַׁלֵּ֑ם restitution is required . yə·šal·lêm אִם־ If ’im-
