הָאַ֥יִל ram hā·’a·yil אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- רָאִ֖יתָ you saw rā·’î·ṯā בַּ֣עַל . . . ba·‘al מַלְכֵ֖י represents the kings mal·ḵê מָדַ֥י of Media mā·ḏay וּפָרָֽס׃ and Persia . ū·p̄ā·rās Daniel 8:21 הַשָּׂעִ֖יר The shaggy haś·śā·‘îr וְהַצָּפִ֥יר goat wə·haṣ·ṣā·p̄îr מֶ֣לֶךְ represents the king me·leḵ יָוָ֑ן of Greece , yā·wān הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ and the large hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer וְהַקֶּ֤רֶן horn wə·haq·qe·ren בֵּין־ between bên- עֵינָ֔יו his eyes ‘ê·nāw ה֖וּא is hū הָרִאשֽׁוֹן׃ the first hā·ri·šō·wn הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ king . ham·me·leḵ Daniel 8:22 אַרְבַּ֖ע The four [horns] ’ar·ba‘ תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ that replaced taḥ·te·hā וְהַ֨נִּשְׁבֶּ֔רֶת the broken [one] wə·han·niš·be·reṯ אַרְבַּ֧ע represent four ’ar·ba‘ מַלְכֻי֛וֹת kingdoms mal·ḵu·yō·wṯ וַתַּֽעֲמֹ֥דְנָה that will rise wat·ta·‘ă·mō·ḏə·nāh מִגּ֥וֹי from that nation , mig·gō·w יַעֲמֹ֖דְנָה . . . ya·‘ă·mō·ḏə·nāh וְלֹ֥א but will not have wə·lō בְכֹחֽוֹ׃ the same power . ḇə·ḵō·ḥōw Daniel 8:23 וּֽבְאַחֲרִית֙ In the latter part ū·ḇə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ מַלְכוּתָ֔ם of their reign , mal·ḵū·ṯām הַפֹּשְׁעִ֑ים when the rebellion hap·pō·šə·‘îm כְּהָתֵ֖ם has reached its full measure , kə·hā·ṯêm עַז־ an insolent ‘az- פָּנִ֖ים . . . pā·nîm מֶ֥לֶךְ king , me·leḵ וּמֵבִ֥ין skilled ū·mê·ḇîn חִידֽוֹת׃ in intrigue , ḥî·ḏō·wṯ יַעֲמֹ֛ד will come to the throne . ya·‘ă·mōḏ Daniel 8:24 כֹּחוֹ֙ His power kō·ḥōw וְעָצַ֤ם will be great , wə·‘ā·ṣam בְכֹח֔וֹ but it ḇə·ḵō·ḥōw וְנִפְלָא֥וֹת . . . wə·nip̄·lā·’ō·wṯ וְלֹ֣א will not be his own . wə·lō יַשְׁחִ֖ית He will cause terrible destruction yaš·ḥîṯ וְהִצְלִ֣יחַ and succeed wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ וְעָשָׂ֑ה in whatever he does . wə·‘ā·śāh וְהִשְׁחִ֥ית He will destroy wə·hiš·ḥîṯ עֲצוּמִ֖ים the mighty men ‘ă·ṣū·mîm קְדֹשִֽׁים׃ along with the holy qə·ḏō·šîm וְעַם־ people . wə·‘am- Daniel 8:25 וְעַל־ Through wə·‘al- שִׂכְל֗וֹ his craft śiḵ·lōw בְּיָד֔וֹ and by his hand , bə·yā·ḏōw מִרְמָה֙ he will cause deceit mir·māh וְהִצְלִ֤יחַ to prosper , wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ וּבִלְבָב֣וֹ and in his own mind ū·ḇil·ḇā·ḇōw יַגְדִּ֔יל he will make himself great . yaḡ·dîl וּבְשַׁלְוָ֖ה In a time of peace ū·ḇə·šal·wāh יַשְׁחִ֣ית he will destroy yaš·ḥîṯ רַבִּ֑ים many , rab·bîm יַעֲמֹ֔ד and he will even stand ya·‘ă·mōḏ וְעַ֤ל־ against wə·‘al- שַׂר־ the Prince śar- שָׂרִים֙ of princes . śā·rîm יִשָּׁבֵֽר׃ Yet he will be broken off , yiš·šā·ḇêr וּבְאֶ֥פֶס but not ū·ḇə·’e·p̄es יָ֖ד by [human] hands . yāḏ Daniel 8:26 וּמַרְאֵ֨ה The vision ū·mar·’êh הָעֶ֧רֶב of the evenings hā·‘e·reḇ וְהַבֹּ֛קֶר and the mornings wə·hab·bō·qer אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer נֶאֱמַ֖ר has been spoken ne·’ĕ·mar אֱמֶ֣ת is true . ’ĕ·meṯ ה֑וּא . . . hū וְאַתָּה֙ Now you wə·’at·tāh סְתֹ֣ם must seal up sə·ṯōm הֶֽחָז֔וֹן the vision , he·ḥā·zō·wn כִּ֖י for kî רַבִּֽים׃ it concerns the distant rab·bîm לְיָמִ֥ים future . ” lə·yā·mîm
