כָּהֵ֔ל [are] able , kā·hêl דִּ֛י because dî רֽוּחַ־ the spirit rū·aḥ- קַדִּישִׁ֖ין of the holy qad·dî·šîn אֱלָהִ֥ין gods ’ĕ·lā·hîn בָּֽךְ׃ [is] in you . ” bāḵ Daniel 4:19 אֱדַ֨יִן For ’ĕ·ḏa·yin חֲדָ֔ה a ḥă·ḏāh כְּשָׁעָ֣ה time , kə·šā·‘āh דָּֽנִיֵּ֜אל Daniel , dā·nî·yêl דִּֽי־ who dî- שְׁמֵ֣הּ was also known as šə·mêh בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר Belteshazzar , bê·lə·ṭə·šaṣ·ṣar אֶשְׁתּוֹמַם֙ was perplexed , ’eš·tō·w·mam וְרַעְיֹנֹ֖הִי and his thoughts wə·ra‘·yō·nō·hî יְבַהֲלֻנֵּ֑הּ alarmed him . yə·ḇa·hă·lun·nêh מַלְכָּ֜א So the king mal·kā וְאָמַ֗ר . . . wə·’ā·mar עָנֵ֨ה said , ‘ā·nêh בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ “ Belteshazzar , bê·lə·ṭə·šaṣ·ṣar אַֽל־ do not ’al- חֶלְמָ֤א let the dream ḥel·mā וּפִשְׁרֵא֙ or its interpretation ū·p̄iš·rê יְבַהֲלָ֔ךְ alarm you . ” yə·ḇa·hă·lāḵ מָרְאִי “ My lord , ” må̄·rə·ʾī וְאָמַ֔ר . . . wə·’ā·mar עָנֵ֤ה replied ‘ā·nêh בֵלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ Belteshazzar , ḇê·lə·ṭə·šaṣ·ṣar חֶלְמָ֥א “ may the dream ḥel·mā לְשָׂנְאַיִךְ apply to those who hate you , lə·śå̄·nə·ʾa·yiḵ וּפִשְׁרֵ֥הּ and its interpretation ū·p̄iš·rêh לְעָרַיִךְ׃ to your enemies ! lə·ʿå̄·ra·yiḵ Daniel 4:20 אִֽילָנָא֙ The tree ’î·lā·nā דִּ֣י dî חֲזַ֔יְתָ you saw ḥă·zay·ṯā דִּ֥י that dî רְבָ֖ה grew large rə·ḇāh וּתְקִ֑ף and strong , ū·ṯə·qip̄ וְרוּמֵהּ֙ whose top wə·rū·mêh יִמְטֵ֣א reached yim·ṭê לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א the sky liš·may·yā וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ and was visible wa·ḥă·zō·w·ṯêh לְכָל־ to all lə·ḵāl אַרְעָֽא׃ the earth , ’ar·‘ā Daniel 4:21 וְעָפְיֵ֤הּ whose foliage wə·‘ā·p̄ə·yêh שַׁפִּיר֙ was beautiful šap·pîr וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ and whose fruit wə·’in·bêh שַׂגִּ֔יא [was] abundant , śag·gî וּמָז֨וֹן providing food ū·mā·zō·wn לְכֹ֖לָּא־ for all , lə·ḵōl·lā- בֵ֑הּ ḇêh תְּחֹת֗וֹהִי under which tə·ḥō·ṯō·w·hî חֵיוַ֣ת the beasts ḥê·waṯ בָּרָ֔א of the field bā·rā תְּדוּר֙ lived , tə·ḏūr וּבְעַנְפ֕וֹהִי and in whose branches ū·ḇə·‘an·p̄ō·w·hî צִפֲּרֵ֥י the birds ṣip·pă·rê שְׁמַיָּֽא׃ of the air šə·may·yā יִשְׁכְּנָ֖ן nested — yiš·kə·nān Daniel 4:22 אַנְתָּה you , ʾan·tå̄h מַלְכָּ֔א O king , mal·kā ה֣וּא are [that tree] ! hū דִּ֥י . . . dî רְבַ֖ית For you have become great rə·ḇayṯ וּתְקֵ֑פְתְּ and strong ; ū·ṯə·qê·p̄ət וּרְבוּתָ֤ךְ your greatness ū·rə·ḇū·ṯāḵ רְבָת֙ has grown rə·ḇāṯ וּמְטָ֣ת to reach ū·mə·ṭāṯ לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א the sky , liš·may·yā וְשָׁלְטָנָ֖ךְ and your dominion wə·šā·lə·ṭā·nāḵ לְס֥וֹף extends to the ends lə·sō·wp̄ אַרְעָֽא׃ of the earth . ’ar·‘ā Daniel 4:23 וְדִ֣י And wə·ḏî מַלְכָּ֡א you, O king , mal·kā חֲזָ֣ה saw ḥă·zāh עִ֣יר a watcher , ‘îr וְקַדִּ֣ישׁ a holy one , wə·qad·dîš נָחִ֣ת׀ coming down nā·ḥiṯ מִן־ from min- שְׁמַיָּ֡א heaven šə·may·yā וְאָמַר֩ and saying : wə·’ā·mar גֹּ֨דּוּ ‘ Cut down gōd·dū אִֽילָנָ֜א the tree ’î·lā·nā וְחַבְּל֗וּהִי and destroy it , wə·ḥab·bə·lū·hî בְּרַ֨ם but bə·ram
