Daniel 2:11 וּמִלְּתָ֨א - ū·mil·lə·ṯā דִֽי־ What ḏî- מַלְכָּ֤ה the king mal·kāh שָׁאֵל֙ requests šā·’êl יַקִּירָ֔ה is so difficult yaq·qî·rāh לָ֣א that no lā וְאָחֳרָן֙ one wə·’ā·ḥo·rān אִיתַ֔י ’î·ṯay דִּ֥י dî יְחַוִּנַּ֖הּ can tell it yə·ḥaw·win·nah קֳדָ֣ם to qo·ḏām מַלְכָּ֑א him mal·kā לָהֵ֣ן except lā·hên אֱלָהִ֔ין the gods , ’ĕ·lā·hîn דִּ֚י whose dî מְדָ֣רְה֔וֹן dwelling mə·ḏā·rə·hō·wn אִיתֽוֹהִי׃ is ’î·ṯō·w·hî לָ֥א not lā עִם־ with ‘im- בִּשְׂרָ֖א mortals . ” biś·rā Daniel 2:12 כָּל־ kāl- קֳבֵ֣ל This [response] {made} qo·ḇêl דְּנָ֔ה . . . də·nāh מַלְכָּ֕א the king mal·kā שַׂגִּ֑יא so śag·gî וּקְצַ֣ף furious ū·qə·ṣap̄ בְּנַ֖ס with anger bə·nas וַאֲמַר֙ that he gave orders wa·’ă·mar לְה֣וֹבָדָ֔ה to destroy lə·hō·w·ḇā·ḏāh לְכֹ֖ל all lə·ḵōl חַכִּימֵ֥י the wise men ḥak·kî·mê בָבֶֽל׃ of Babylon . ḇā·ḇel Daniel 2:13 וְדָתָ֣א So the decree wə·ḏā·ṯā נֶפְקַ֔ת went out nep̄·qaṯ וְחַכִּֽימַיָּ֖א that the wise men wə·ḥak·kî·may·yā מִֽתְקַטְּלִ֑ין were to be executed , miṯ·qaṭ·ṭə·lîn וּבְע֛וֹ and men went to look for ū·ḇə·‘ōw דָּנִיֵּ֥אל Daniel dā·nî·yêl וְחַבְר֖וֹהִי and his friends wə·ḥaḇ·rō·w·hî לְהִתְקְטָלָֽה׃פ to execute them . lə·hiṯ·qə·ṭā·lāh Daniel 2:14 בֵּאדַ֣יִן When bê·ḏa·yin לְאַרְי֕וֹךְ Arioch , lə·’ar·yō·wḵ רַב־ the commander raḇ- מַלְכָּ֑א of the king’s mal·kā דִּ֚י . . . dî טַבָּחַיָּ֖א guard , ṭab·bā·ḥay·yā דִּ֣י - dî נְפַ֣ק had gone out nə·p̄aq לְקַטָּלָ֔ה to execute lə·qaṭ·ṭā·lāh לְחַכִּימֵ֖י the wise men lə·ḥak·kî·mê בָּבֶֽל׃ of Babylon , bā·ḇel דָּנִיֵּ֗אל Daniel dā·nî·yêl הֲתִיב֙ replied hă·ṯîḇ עֵטָ֣א with discretion ‘ê·ṭā וּטְעֵ֔ם and tact . ū·ṭə·‘êm Daniel 2:15 עַל־ “ Why ‘al- מָ֥ה . . . māh דָתָ֛א is the decree ḏā·ṯā מִן־ from min- קֳדָ֣ם . . . qo·ḏām מַלְכָּ֑א the king mal·kā מְהַחְצְפָ֖ה so harsh ? ” mə·haḥ·ṣə·p̄āh עָנֵ֣ה he asked ‘ā·nêh וְאָמַ֗ר . . . wə·’ā·mar לְאַרְיוֹךְ֙ - lə·’ar·yō·wḵ מַלְכָּ֔א - mal·kā שַׁלִּיטָ֣א - šal·lî·ṭā דִֽי־ - . ḏî- אֱדַ֣יִן At this time ’ĕ·ḏa·yin אַרְי֖וֹךְ Arioch ’ar·yō·wḵ הוֹדַ֥ע explained hō·w·ḏa‘ מִלְּתָ֔א the situation mil·lə·ṯā לְדָנִיֵּֽאל׃ to Daniel . lə·ḏā·nî·yêl Daniel 2:16 וְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל So Daniel wə·ḏā·nî·yêl עַ֖ל went in ‘al וּבְעָ֣ה and asked ū·ḇə·‘āh מִן־ . . . min- מַלְכָּ֑א the king mal·kā דִּ֚י . . . dî יִנְתֵּן־ to give yin·tên- לֵ֔הּ him lêh זְמָ֣ן some time , zə·mān לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה so that he could give lə·ha·ḥă·wā·yāh
