נִֽחְיֶֽה׃ can we live ? ’ niḥ·yeh Ezekiel 33:11 אֱמֹ֨ר Say ’ĕ·mōr אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם to them : ’ă·lê·hem אָ֣נִי׀ ‘ As surely as I ’ā·nî חַי־ live , ḥay- נְאֻ֣ם׀ declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֗ה YHWH , Yah·weh אִם־ I take no ’im- אֶחְפֹּץ֙ pleasure ’eḥ·pōṣ בְּמ֣וֹת in the death bə·mō·wṯ הָרָשָׁ֔ע of the wicked , hā·rā·šā‘ כִּ֣י but rather kî אִם־ . . . ’im- רָשָׁ֛ע that the wicked rā·šā‘ בְּשׁ֥וּב should turn bə·šūḇ מִדַּרְכּ֖וֹ from their ways mid·dar·kōw וְחָיָ֑ה and live . wə·ḥā·yāh שׁ֣וּבוּ Turn ! šū·ḇū שׁ֜וּבוּ Turn šū·ḇū הָרָעִ֛ים from your evil hā·rā·‘îm מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֧ם ways ! mid·dar·ḵê·ḵem וְלָ֥מָּה For why wə·lām·māh תָמ֖וּתוּ should you die , ṯā·mū·ṯū בֵּ֥ית O house bêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ of Israel ? ’ yiś·rā·’êl Ezekiel 33:12 וְאַתָּ֣ה Therefore , wə·’at·tāh בֶן־ son ḇen- אָדָ֗ם of man , ’ā·ḏām אֱמֹ֤ר say ’ĕ·mōr אֶל־ to ’el- בְּנֵֽי־ your people bə·nê- עַמְּךָ֙ . . . : ‘am·mə·ḵā צִדְקַ֣ת ‘ The righteousness ṣiḏ·qaṯ הַצַּדִּ֗יק of the righteous man haṣ·ṣad·dîq לֹ֤א will not lō תַצִּילֶ֙נּוּ֙ deliver him ṯaṣ·ṣî·len·nū בְּי֣וֹם in the day bə·yō·wm פִּשְׁע֔וֹ of his transgression ; piš·‘ōw לֹֽא־ neither lō- וְרִשְׁעַ֤ת will the wickedness wə·riš·‘aṯ הָֽרָשָׁע֙ of the wicked man hā·rā·šā‘ יִכָּ֣שֶׁל cause him to stumble yik·kā·šel בָּ֔הּ bāh בְּי֖וֹם on the day bə·yō·wm שׁוּב֣וֹ he turns šū·ḇōw מֵֽרִשְׁע֑וֹ from his wickedness . mê·riš·‘ōw לֹ֥א Nor will lō וְצַדִּ֗יק the righteous man wə·ṣad·dîq יוּכַ֛ל be able yū·ḵal לִֽחְי֥וֹת to survive liḥ·yō·wṯ בָּ֖הּ by his righteousness bāh בְּי֥וֹם on the day bə·yō·wm חֲטֹאתֽוֹ׃ he sins . ’ ḥă·ṭō·ṯōw Ezekiel 33:13 בְּאָמְרִ֤י If I tell bə·’ā·mə·rî לַצַּדִּיק֙ the righteous man laṣ·ṣad·dîq חָיֹ֣ה that he will surely live ḥā·yōh יִֽחְיֶ֔ה . . . , yiḥ·yeh וְהֽוּא־ but he then wə·hū- בָטַ֥ח trusts ḇā·ṭaḥ עַל־ in ‘al- צִדְקָת֖וֹ his righteousness ṣiḏ·qā·ṯōw וְעָ֣שָׂה and commits wə·‘ā·śāh עָ֑וֶל iniquity , ‘ā·wel כָּל־ then none kāl- לֹ֣א . . . lō צִדְקָתוֹ of his righteous works ṣiḏ·qå̄·ṯō תִזָּכַ֔רְנָה will be remembered ; ṯiz·zā·ḵar·nāh יָמֽוּת׃ he will die yā·mūṯ וּבְעַוְל֥וֹ because of the iniquity ū·ḇə·‘aw·lōw אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- עָשָׂ֖ה he has committed ‘ā·śāh בּ֥וֹ . bōw Ezekiel 33:14 וּבְאָמְרִ֥י But if I tell ū·ḇə·’ā·mə·rî לָֽרָשָׁ֖ע the wicked man , lā·rā·šā‘ מ֣וֹת ‘ You will surely die mō·wṯ תָּמ֑וּת . . . , ’ tā·mūṯ וְשָׁב֙ and he turns wə·šāḇ מֵֽחַטָּאת֔וֹ from his sin mê·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯōw וְעָשָׂ֥ה and does wə·‘ā·śāh מִשְׁפָּ֖ט what is just miš·pāṭ וּצְדָקָֽה׃ and right — ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh Ezekiel 33:15 רָשָׁע֙ if he rā·šā‘ יָשִׁ֤יב restores yā·šîḇ חֲבֹ֨ל a pledge , ḥă·ḇōl
