עֹ֖ז strong ‘ōz מַטֵּה־ branch maṭ·ṭêh- הָ֥יָה remains hā·yāh לִמְשׁ֑וֹל fit for a ruler’s lim·šō·wl שֵׁ֣בֶט scepter . ’ šê·ḇeṭ הִ֖יא This hî קִ֥ינָה is a lament qî·nāh וַתְּהִ֥י and shall be used wat·tə·hî לְקִינָֽה׃פ as a lament . ” lə·qî·nāh Ezekiel 20:1 וַיְהִ֣י׀ - way·hî הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗ית In the seventh haš·šə·ḇî·‘îṯ בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה year , baš·šā·nāh בֶּעָשׂ֣וֹר on the tenth be·‘ā·śō·wr לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ day la·ḥō·ḏeš בַּֽחֲמִשִׁי֙ of the fifth month , ba·ḥă·mi·šî מִזִּקְנֵ֥י some of the elders miz·ziq·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl בָּ֧אוּ came bā·’ū אֲנָשִׁ֛ים . . . ’ă·nā·šîm לִדְרֹ֣שׁ to inquire liḏ·rōš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ and they sat down way·yê·šə·ḇū לְפָנָֽי׃ס before me . lə·p̄ā·nāy Ezekiel 20:2 דְבַר־ Then the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיְהִ֥י came way·hî אֵלַ֥י to me , ’ê·lay לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Ezekiel 20:3 בֶּן־ “ Son ben- אָדָ֗ם of man , ’ā·ḏām דַּבֵּ֞ר speak dab·bêr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זִקְנֵ֤י to the elders ziq·nê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ and tell wə·’ā·mar·tā אֲלֵהֶ֔ם them ’ă·lê·hem כֹּ֤ה that this is what kōh אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar אַתֶּ֣ם Have you ’at·tem בָּאִ֑ים come bā·’îm הֲלִדְרֹ֥שׁ to inquire hă·liḏ·rōš אֹתִ֖י of Me ? ’ō·ṯî אָ֙נִי֙ As surely as ’ā·nî חַי־ I live , ḥay- אִם־ I will not ’im- אִדָּרֵ֣שׁ be consulted ’id·dā·rêš לָכֶ֔ם by you , lā·ḵem נְאֻ֖ם declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִֽה׃ YHWH . Yah·weh Ezekiel 20:4 הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֣ט Will you judge hă·ṯiš·pōṭ אֹתָ֔ם them , ’ō·ṯām הֲתִשְׁפּ֖וֹט will you judge [them] , hă·ṯiš·pō·wṭ בֶּן־ son ben- אָדָ֑ם of man ? ’ā·ḏām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הוֹדִיעֵֽם׃ Confront them with hō·w·ḏî·‘êm תּוֹעֲבֹ֥ת the abominations tō·w·‘ă·ḇōṯ אֲבוֹתָ֖ם of their fathers ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām Ezekiel 20:5 וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ and tell wə·’ā·mar·tā אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם them ’ă·lê·hem כֹּֽה־ that this is what kōh- אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִה֒ YHWH Yah·weh אָמַר֮ says : ’ā·mar בְּיוֹם֙ On the day bə·yō·wm בָּחֳרִ֣י I chose bā·ḥo·rî בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel , ḇə·yiś·rā·’êl וָאֶשָּׂ֣א I swore an oath wā·’eś·śā יָדִ֗י . . . yā·ḏî לְזֶ֙רַע֙ to the descendants lə·ze·ra‘ בֵּ֣ית of the house bêṯ יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב of Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וָאִוָּדַ֥ע and made Myself known wā·’iw·wā·ḏa‘ לָהֶ֖ם to them lā·hem בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt . miṣ·rā·yim וָאֶשָּׂ֨א With an uplifted wā·’eś·śā יָדִ֤י hand yā·ḏî לֵאמֹ֔ר I said lê·mōr לָהֶם֙ to them , lā·hem אֲנִ֖י ‘ I ’ă·nî
