וְעָ֣שָׂה it will yield wə·‘ā·śāh פֶ֔רִי fruit p̄e·rî וְהָיָ֖ה and become wə·hā·yāh אַדִּ֑יר a majestic ’ad·dîr לְאֶ֣רֶז cedar . lə·’e·rez צִפּ֣וֹר Birds ṣip·pō·wr כָּל־ of every kāl- כָּנָ֔ף kind kā·nāp̄ כֹּ֚ל kōl וְשָׁכְנ֣וּ will nest wə·šā·ḵə·nū תַחְתָּ֗יו under it , ṯaḥ·tāw תִּשְׁכֹּֽנָּה׃ taking shelter tiš·kōn·nāh בְּצֵ֥ל in the shade bə·ṣêl דָּלִיּוֹתָ֖יו of its branches . dā·lî·yō·w·ṯāw Ezekiel 17:24 כָּל־ Then all kāl- עֲצֵ֣י the trees ‘ă·ṣê הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה of the field haś·śā·ḏeh וְֽיָדְע֞וּ will know wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū כִּ֣י that kî אֲנִ֤י I ’ă·nî יְהוָה֙ am YHWH . Yah·weh הִשְׁפַּ֣לְתִּי׀ I bring hiš·pal·tî גָּבֹ֗הַ the tall gā·ḇō·ha עֵ֣ץ tree {down} ‘êṣ שָׁפָ֔ל and make the low šā·p̄āl עֵ֣ץ tree ‘êṣ הִגְבַּ֙הְתִּי֙ tall . hiḡ·bah·tî הוֹבַ֙שְׁתִּי֙ I dry up hō·w·ḇaš·tî לָ֔ח the green lāḥ עֵ֣ץ tree ‘êṣ יָבֵ֑שׁ and make the withered yā·ḇêš עֵ֣ץ tree ‘êṣ וְהִפְרַ֖חְתִּי flourish . wə·hip̄·raḥ·tî אֲנִ֥י I , ’ă·nî יְהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי have spoken , dib·bar·tî וְעָשִֽׂיתִי׃פ and I have done [it] . ’” wə·‘ā·śî·ṯî Ezekiel 18:1 דְבַר־ Then the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיְהִ֥י came way·hî אֵלַ֥י to me , ’ê·lay לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Ezekiel 18:2 מַה־ “ What mah- אַתֶּם֙ do you people ’at·tem לָּכֶ֗ם mean lā·ḵem הַזֶּ֔ה by quoting this haz·zeh מֹֽשְׁלִים֙ proverb mō·šə·lîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמָּשָׁ֣ל - ham·mā·šāl עַל־ about ‘al- אַדְמַ֥ת the land ’aḏ·maṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel : yiś·rā·’êl לֵאמֹ֑ר . . . lê·mōr אָבוֹת֙ ‘ The fathers ’ā·ḇō·wṯ יֹ֣אכְלוּ have eaten yō·ḵə·lū בֹ֔סֶר sour grapes , ḇō·ser וְשִׁנֵּ֥י and the teeth wə·šin·nê הַבָּנִ֖ים of the children hab·bā·nîm תִּקְהֶֽינָה׃ are set on edge ’ ? tiq·he·nāh Ezekiel 18:3 אָ֕נִי As surely as ’ā·nî חַי־ I live , ḥay- נְאֻ֖ם declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֑ה YHWH , Yah·weh אִם־ you will no ’im- יִֽהְיֶ֨ה . . . yih·yeh לָכֶ֜ם lā·ḵem ע֗וֹד longer ‘ō·wḏ מְשֹׁ֛ל quote mə·šōl הַזֶּ֖ה this haz·zeh הַמָּשָׁ֥ל proverb ham·mā·šāl בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ in Israel . bə·yiś·rā·’êl Ezekiel 18:4 הֵ֤ן Behold , hên כָּל־ every kāl- הַנְּפָשׁוֹת֙ soul han·nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ לִ֣י belongs to Me ; lî הֵ֔נָּה hên·nāh כְּנֶ֧פֶשׁ kə·ne·p̄eš הָאָ֛ב both father hā·’āḇ וּכְנֶ֥פֶשׁ [and] ū·ḵə·ne·p̄eš הַבֵּ֖ן son hab·bên הֵ֑נָּה are hên·nāh לִי־ Mine . lî- הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ The soul han·ne·p̄eš הַחֹטֵ֖את who sins ha·ḥō·ṭêṯ
