וַיָּבֵ֥א and brought them back way·yā·ḇê אוֹתָ֛ם - ’ō·w·ṯām אֵלָ֖יו with him ’ê·lāw בָּבֶֽלָה׃ to Babylon . bā·ḇe·lāh Ezekiel 17:13 וַיִּקַּח֙ He took way·yiq·qaḥ הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה a member of the royal ham·mə·lū·ḵāh מִזֶּ֣רַע family miz·ze·ra‘ וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת and made way·yiḵ·rōṯ בְּרִ֑ית a covenant bə·rîṯ אִתּ֖וֹ with him , ’it·tōw וַיָּבֵ֤א putting way·yā·ḇê אֹתוֹ֙ him ’ō·ṯōw בְּאָלָ֔ה under oath . bə·’ā·lāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לָקָֽח׃ Then he carried away lā·qāḥ אֵילֵ֥י the leading men ’ê·lê הָאָ֖רֶץ of the land , hā·’ā·reṣ Ezekiel 17:14 מַמְלָכָ֣ה so that the kingdom mam·lā·ḵāh לִֽהְיוֹת֙ would be lih·yō·wṯ שְׁפָלָ֔ה brought low , šə·p̄ā·lāh לְבִלְתִּ֖י unable lə·ḇil·tî הִתְנַשֵּׂ֑א to lift itself up , hiṯ·naś·śê לְעָמְדָֽהּ׃ surviving [only] lə·‘ā·mə·ḏāh לִשְׁמֹ֥ר by keeping liš·mōr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּרִית֖וֹ his covenant . bə·rî·ṯōw Ezekiel 17:15 וַיִּמְרָד־ But this [king] rebelled way·yim·rāḏ- בּ֗וֹ against [Babylon] bōw לִשְׁלֹ֤חַ by sending liš·lō·aḥ מַלְאָכָיו֙ his envoys mal·’ā·ḵāw מִצְרַ֔יִם to Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לָֽתֶת־ to ask for lā·ṯeṯ- ל֥וֹ - lōw סוּסִ֖ים horses sū·sîm רָ֑ב and a large rāḇ וְעַם־ army . wə·‘am- הֲיִצְלָ֤ח Will he flourish ? hă·yiṣ·lāḥ הָעֹשֵׂ֣ה Will the one who does hā·‘ō·śêh אֵ֔לֶּה such ’êl·leh הֲיִמָּלֵט֙ things escape ? hă·yim·mā·lêṭ וְהֵפֵ֥ר Can he break wə·hê·p̄êr בְּרִ֖ית a covenant bə·rîṯ וְנִמְלָֽט׃ and yet escape ? ’ wə·nim·lāṭ Ezekiel 17:16 אִם־ ‘ As surely as ’im- לֹ֗א . . . lō אָ֗נִי I ’ā·nî חַי־ live , ’ ḥay- נְאֻם֮ declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִה֒ YHWH , Yah·weh יָמֽוּת׃ ‘ he will die yā·mūṯ בְתוֹךְ־ in ḇə·ṯō·wḵ- בָּבֶ֖ל Babylon , bā·ḇel בִּמְקוֹם֙ in the land bim·qō·wm הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ of the king ham·me·leḵ הַמַּמְלִ֣יךְ who enthroned him , ham·mam·lîḵ אֹת֔וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw אֲשֶׁ֤ר whose ’ă·šer אָ֣לָת֔וֹ oath ’ā·lā·ṯōw בָּזָה֙ he despised bā·zāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר and whose wa·’ă·šer בְּרִית֑וֹ covenant bə·rî·ṯōw אִתּ֥וֹ . . . ’it·tōw הֵפֵ֖ר he broke . hê·p̄êr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- Ezekiel 17:17 פַרְעֹה֙ Pharaoh p̄ar·‘ōh גָּד֜וֹל with [his] mighty gā·ḏō·wl בְחַ֨יִל army ḇə·ḥa·yil רָ֗ב and vast rāḇ וּבְקָהָ֣ל horde ū·ḇə·qā·hāl וְלֹא֩ will not wə·lō יַעֲשֶׂ֨ה help ya·‘ă·śeh אוֹת֤וֹ him ’ō·w·ṯōw בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה in battle , bam·mil·ḥā·māh סֹלְלָ֖ה when ramps sō·lə·lāh בִּשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ are built biš·pōḵ דָּיֵ֑ק and siege walls dā·yêq וּבִבְנ֣וֹת constructed ū·ḇiḇ·nō·wṯ לְהַכְרִ֖ית to destroy lə·haḵ·rîṯ רַבּֽוֹת׃ many rab·bō·wṯ נְפָשׁ֥וֹת lives . nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ
