הַבַּדִּ֔ים in linen hab·bad·dîm אֲשֶׁ֛ר - ’ă·šer קֶ֥סֶת who had the writing kit qe·seṯ הַסֹּפֵ֖ר . . . has·sō·p̄êr בְּמָתְנָֽיו׃ס at his side . bə·mā·ṯə·nāw Ezekiel 9:4 עֲבֹר֙ “ Go ‘ă·ḇōr בְּת֣וֹךְ throughout bə·ṯō·wḵ הָעִ֔יר the city hā·‘îr בְּת֖וֹךְ of bə·ṯō·wḵ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם Jerusalem , ” yə·rū·šā·lim וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh אֵלוֹ - , ʾē·lō וְהִתְוִ֨יתָ “ and put wə·hiṯ·wî·ṯā תָּ֜ו a mark tāw עַל־ on ‘al- מִצְח֣וֹת the foreheads miṣ·ḥō·wṯ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים of the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm הַנֶּֽאֱנָחִים֙ sighing han·ne·’ĕ·nā·ḥîm וְהַנֶּ֣אֱנָקִ֔ים and groaning wə·han·ne·’ĕ·nā·qîm עַ֚ל over ‘al כָּל־ all kāl- הַתּ֣וֹעֵב֔וֹת the abominations hat·tō·w·‘ê·ḇō·wṯ הַֽנַּעֲשׂ֖וֹת committed han·na·‘ă·śō·wṯ בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃ there . ” bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh Ezekiel 9:5 בְּאָזְנַ֔י And as I listened , bə·’ā·zə·nay אָמַ֣ר He said ’ā·mar וּלְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ to the others , ū·lə·’êl·leh עִבְר֥וּ “ Follow him ‘iḇ·rū אַחֲרָ֖יו . . . ’a·ḥă·rāw בָעִ֛יר through the city ḇā·‘îr וְהַכּ֑וּ and start killing ; wə·hak·kū עַל . . . ʿal תָּחֹ֥ס do not tā·ḥōs עֵינֵיכֶם show pity ʿē·nē·ḵɛm וְאַל־ . . . wə·’al- תַּחְמֹֽלוּ׃ or spare anyone ! taḥ·mō·lū Ezekiel 9:6 תַּהַרְג֣וּ Slaughter ta·har·ḡū לְמַשְׁחִ֗ית . . . lə·maš·ḥîṯ וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- זָקֵ֡ן the old men , zā·qên בָּח֣וּר the young men bā·ḥūr וּבְתוּלָה֩ and maidens , ū·ḇə·ṯū·lāh וְנָשִׁ֜ים the women wə·nā·šîm וְטַ֨ף and children ; wə·ṭap̄ אַל־ but do not ’al- תִּגַּ֔שׁוּ go near tig·ga·šū כָּל־ anyone kāl- אִ֨ישׁ . . . ’îš אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- עָלָ֤יו . . . ‘ā·lāw הַתָּו֙ has the mark . hat·tāw תָּחֵ֑לּוּ Now begin tā·ḥêl·lū וּמִמִּקְדָּשִׁ֖י at My sanctuary . ” ū·mim·miq·dā·šî וַיָּחֵ֙לּוּ֙ So they began way·yā·ḥêl·lū בָּאֲנָשִׁ֣ים . . . bā·’ă·nā·šîm הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים with the elders haz·zə·qê·nîm אֲשֶׁ֖ר who [were] ’ă·šer לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê הַבָּֽיִת׃ the temple . hab·bā·yiṯ Ezekiel 9:7 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר Then He told way·yō·mer אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם them , ’ă·lê·hem טַמְּא֣וּ “ Defile ṭam·mə·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַבַּ֗יִת the temple hab·ba·yiṯ וּמַלְא֧וּ and fill ū·mal·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַחֲצֵר֛וֹת the courts ha·ḥă·ṣê·rō·wṯ חֲלָלִ֖ים with the slain . ḥă·lā·lîm צֵ֑אוּ Go forth ! ” ṣê·’ū וְיָצְא֖וּ So they went out wə·yā·ṣə·’ū וְהִכּ֥וּ and began killing wə·hik·kū בָעִֽיר׃ throughout the city . ḇā·‘îr Ezekiel 9:8 וַֽיְהִי֙ - way·hî כְּהַכּוֹתָ֔ם While they were killing , kə·hak·kō·w·ṯām אָ֑נִי I ’ā·nî וְנֵֽאשֲׁאַ֖ר was left alone . wə·nê·šă·’ar וָאֶפְּלָ֨ה And I fell wā·’ep·pə·lāh עַל־ facedown ‘al- פָּנַ֜י . . . pā·nay וָאֶזְעַ֗ק and cried out , wā·’ez·‘aq וָֽאֹמַר֙ . . . wā·’ō·mar אֲהָהּ֙ “ Oh , ’ă·hāh אֲדֹנָ֣י Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh
