דְּמ֣וּת was a figure də·mūṯ כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה like that kə·mar·’êh אָדָ֛ם of a man ’ā·ḏām דְּמ֞וּת . . . də·mūṯ מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃ . . . . mil·mā·‘ə·lāh Ezekiel 1:27 מִמַּרְאֵ֥ה From what seemed mim·mar·’êh מָתְנָ֖יו to be His waist mā·ṯə·nāw וּלְמָ֑עְלָה up , ū·lə·mā·‘ə·lāh וָאֵ֣רֶא׀ I saw wā·’ê·re כְּעֵ֣ין a gleam kə·‘ên חַשְׁמַ֗ל like amber , ḥaš·mal כְּמַרְאֵה־ with what looked kə·mar·’êh- אֵ֤שׁ like fire ’êš בֵּֽית־ within bêṯ- לָהּ֙ it lāh סָבִ֔יב all around . sā·ḇîḇ וּמִמַּרְאֵ֤ה And from what seemed ū·mim·mar·’êh מָתְנָיו֙ to be His waist mā·ṯə·nāw וּלְמַ֔טָּה down , ū·lə·maṭ·ṭāh רָאִ֙יתִי֙ I saw rā·’î·ṯî כְּמַרְאֵה־ what looked kə·mar·’êh- אֵ֔שׁ like fire ; ’êš וְנֹ֥גַֽהּ and brilliant light wə·nō·ḡah ל֖וֹ lōw סָבִֽיב׃ surrounded Him . sā·ḇîḇ Ezekiel 1:28 כְּמַרְאֵ֣ה The appearance kə·mar·’êh הַנֹּ֙גַהּ֙ of the brilliant light han·nō·ḡah סָבִ֔יב all around Him sā·ḇîḇ מַרְאֵ֤ה was like that mar·’êh הַקֶּ֡שֶׁת of a rainbow haq·qe·šeṯ אֲשֶׁר֩ ’ă·šer יִֽהְיֶ֨ה yih·yeh בֶעָנָ֜ן in a cloud ḇe·‘ā·nān הַגֶּ֗שֶׁם on a rainy hag·ge·šem בְּי֣וֹם day . bə·yō·wm כֵּ֣ן kên ה֕וּא This hū מַרְאֵ֖ה was the appearance mar·’êh דְּמ֣וּת of the likeness də·mūṯ כְּבוֹד־ of the glory kə·ḇō·wḏ- יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH . Yah·weh וָֽאֶרְאֶה֙ And when I saw it , wā·’er·’eh וָאֶפֹּ֣ל I fell wā·’ep·pōl עַל־ facedown ‘al- פָּנַ֔י . . . pā·nay וָאֶשְׁמַ֖ע and heard wā·’eš·ma‘ ק֥וֹל a voice qō·wl מְדַבֵּֽר׃ס speaking . mə·ḏab·bêr Ezekiel 2:1 בֶּן־ “ Son ben- אָדָם֙ of man , ” ’ā·ḏām וַיֹּ֖אמֶר He said way·yō·mer אֵלָ֑י to me , ’ê·lāy עֲמֹ֣ד “ stand up ‘ă·mōḏ עַל־ on ‘al- רַגְלֶ֔יךָ your feet raḡ·le·ḵā וַאֲדַבֵּ֖ר and I will speak wa·’ă·ḏab·bêr אֹתָֽךְ׃ to you . ” ’ō·ṯāḵ Ezekiel 2:2 כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ And as ka·’ă·šer דִּבֶּ֣ר He spoke dib·ber אֵלַ֔י to me , ’ê·lay ר֗וּחַ the Spirit rū·aḥ וַתָּ֧בֹא entered wat·tā·ḇō בִ֣י me ḇî וַתַּעֲמִדֵ֖נִי and set me wat·ta·‘ă·mi·ḏê·nî עַל־ on ‘al- רַגְלָ֑י my feet , raḡ·lāy וָאֶשְׁמַ֕ע and I heard wā·’eš·ma‘ אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ מִדַּבֵּ֥ר [Him] speaking mid·dab·bêr אֵלָֽי׃פ to me . ’ê·lāy Ezekiel 2:3 בֶּן־ “ Son ben- אָדָם֙ of man , ” ’ā·ḏām וַיֹּ֣אמֶר He said way·yō·mer אֵלַ֗י to me , ’ê·lay אֲנִ֤י “ I ’ă·nî אֽוֹתְךָ֙ - ’ō·wṯ·ḵā שׁוֹלֵ֨חַ am sending šō·w·lê·aḥ אֶל־ you to ’el- בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל . . . , yiś·rā·’êl אֶל־ to ’el- הַמּוֹרְדִ֖ים a rebellious ham·mō·wr·ḏîm גּוֹיִ֥ם nation gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer מָרְדוּ־ has rebelled mā·rə·ḏū-
