לֹ֥א [that] could not lō יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃ס save us . yō·wō·ši·a‘ Lamentations 4:18 צָד֣וּ They stalked ṣā·ḏū צְעָדֵ֔ינוּ our every step , ṣə·‘ā·ḏê·nū מִלֶּ֖כֶת so that we could not walk mil·le·ḵeṯ בִּרְחֹבֹתֵ֑ינוּ in our streets . bir·ḥō·ḇō·ṯê·nū קִצֵּ֛ינוּ Our end qiṣ·ṣê·nū קָרַ֥ב drew near , qā·raḇ יָמֵ֖ינוּ our time yā·mê·nū כִּי־ . . . kî- מָלְא֥וּ ran out , mā·lə·’ū קִצֵּֽינוּ׃ס for our end qiṣ·ṣê·nū בָ֥א had come ! ḇā Lamentations 4:19 רֹדְפֵ֔ינוּ Those who chased us rō·ḏə·p̄ê·nū הָיוּ֙ were hā·yū קַלִּ֤ים swifter qal·lîm מִנִּשְׁרֵ֖י than the eagles min·niš·rê שָׁמָ֑יִם in the sky ; šā·mā·yim דְּלָקֻ֔נוּ they pursued us də·lā·qu·nū עַל־ over ‘al- הֶהָרִ֣ים the mountains he·hā·rîm אָ֥רְבוּ and ambushed ’ā·rə·ḇū לָֽנוּ׃ס us lā·nū בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר in the wilderness . bam·miḏ·bār Lamentations 4:20 יְהוָ֔ה YHWH’s Yah·weh מְשִׁ֣יחַ anointed , mə·šî·aḥ ר֤וּחַ the breath rū·aḥ אַפֵּ֙ינוּ֙ of our life , ’ap·pê·nū נִלְכַּ֖ד was captured nil·kaḏ בִּשְׁחִיתוֹתָ֑ם in their pits . biš·ḥî·ṯō·w·ṯām אָמַ֔רְנוּ We had said ’ā·mar·nū אֲשֶׁ֣ר of him , ’ă·šer בְּצִלּ֖וֹ “ Under his shadow bə·ṣil·lōw נִֽחְיֶ֥ה we will live niḥ·yeh בַגּוֹיִֽם׃ס among the nations . ” ḇag·gō·w·yim Lamentations 4:21 שִׂ֤ישִׂי So rejoice śî·śî וְשִׂמְחִי֙ and be glad , wə·śim·ḥî בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- אֱד֔וֹם of Edom , ’ĕ·ḏō·wm יוֹשַׁבְתִּי [you] who dwell yō·šaḇ·tī בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ ע֑וּץ of Uz . ‘ūṣ כּ֔וֹס Yet the cup kō·ws תַּעֲבָר־ will pass ta·‘ă·ḇār- עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ to ‘ā·la·yiḵ גַּם־ you as well ; gam- תִּשְׁכְּרִ֖י you will get drunk tiš·kə·rî וְתִתְעָרִֽי׃ס and expose yourself . wə·ṯiṯ·‘ā·rî Lamentations 4:22 בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- צִיּ֔וֹן of Zion , ṣî·yō·wn עֲוֺנֵךְ֙ your punishment ‘ă·wō·nêḵ תַּם־ is complete ; tam- לֹ֥א He will not lō יוֹסִ֖יף prolong yō·w·sîp̄ לְהַגְלוֹתֵ֑ךְ your exile . lə·haḡ·lō·w·ṯêḵ פָּקַ֤ד But He will punish pā·qaḏ עֲוֺנֵךְ֙ your iniquity , ‘ă·wō·nêḵ בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- אֱד֔וֹם of Edom ; ’ĕ·ḏō·wm גִּלָּ֖ה He will expose gil·lāh עַל־ . . . ‘al- חַטֹּאתָֽיִךְ׃פ your sins . ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯā·yiḵ Lamentations 5:1 זְכֹ֤ר Remember , zə·ḵōr יְהוָה֙ O YHWH , Yah·weh מֶֽה־ what meh- הָ֣יָה has happened hā·yāh לָ֔נוּ to us . lā·nū הַבֵּיט Look hab·bēṭ וּרְאֵ֥ה and see ū·rə·’êh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חֶרְפָּתֵֽנוּ׃ our disgrace ! ḥer·pā·ṯê·nū Lamentations 5:2 נַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙ Our inheritance na·ḥă·lā·ṯê·nū נֶֽהֶפְכָ֣ה has been turned over ne·hep̄·ḵāh לְזָרִ֔ים to strangers , lə·zā·rîm בָּתֵּ֖ינוּ our houses bāt·tê·nū לְנָכְרִֽים׃ to foreigners . lə·nā·ḵə·rîm
