עֵינֹ֥ת springs ‘ê·nōṯ מַ֖יִם of water ma·yim וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים and seventy wə·šiḇ·‘îm תְּמָרִ֑ים palm trees , tə·mā·rîm וַיַּחֲנוּ־ and they camped way·ya·ḥă·nū- שָׁ֖ם there šām עַל־ by ‘al- הַמָּֽיִם׃ the waters . ham·mā·yim Exodus 16:1 בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֨ה On the fifteenth ba·ḥă·miš·šāh עָשָׂ֥ר . . . ‘ā·śār יוֹם֙ day yō·wm הַשֵּׁנִ֔י of the second haš·šê·nî לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ month la·ḥō·ḏeš לְצֵאתָ֖ם after they had left lə·ṣê·ṯām מֵאֶ֥רֶץ the land mê·’e·reṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt , miṣ·rā·yim כָּל־ the whole kāl- עֲדַ֤ת congregation ‘ă·ḏaṯ בְּנֵֽי־ . . . bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּסְעוּ֙ set out way·yis·‘ū מֵֽאֵילִ֔ם from Elim mê·’ê·lim וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ and came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- מִדְבַּר־ the Desert miḏ·bar- סִ֔ין of Sin , sîn אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ’ă·šer בֵּין־ is between bên- אֵילִ֖ם Elim ’ê·lim וּבֵ֣ין . . . ū·ḇên סִינָ֑י and Sinai . sî·nāy Exodus 16:2 בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ [And there] in the desert bam·miḏ·bār כָּל־ [they all] kāl- עֲדַ֧ת . . . ‘ă·ḏaṯ בְּנֵי־ . . . bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּלִּינוּ grumbled way·yil·lī·nū עַל־ against ‘al- מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mō·šeh וְעַֽל־ . . . wə·‘al- אַהֲרֹ֖ן and Aaron . ’a·hă·rōn Exodus 16:3 מִֽי־ “ If only mî- יִתֵּ֨ן . . . yit·tên מוּתֵ֤נוּ we had died mū·ṯê·nū יְהוָה֙ by YHWH’s Yah·weh בְיַד־ hand ḇə·yaḏ- בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ מִצְרַ֔יִם of Egypt ! ” miṣ·ra·yim בְּנֵ֣י [they said] bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ . . . way·yō·mə·rū אֲלֵהֶ֜ם . . . . ’ă·lê·hem בְּשִׁבְתֵּ֙נוּ֙ “ There we sat bə·šiḇ·tê·nū עַל־ by ‘al- סִ֣יר pots sîr הַבָּשָׂ֔ר of meat hab·bā·śār בְּאָכְלֵ֥נוּ and ate bə·’ā·ḵə·lê·nū לָשֹׂ֑בַע our fill lā·śō·ḇa‘ לֶ֖חֶם of bread , le·ḥem כִּֽי־ but kî- הוֹצֵאתֶ֤ם you have brought hō·w·ṣê·ṯem אֹתָ֙נוּ֙ us ’ō·ṯā·nū אֶל־ into ’el- הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הַמִּדְבָּ֣ר desert ham·miḏ·bār אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בָּרָעָֽב׃ס to starve bā·rā·‘āḇ הַזֶּ֖ה this haz·zeh כָּל־ whole kāl- הַקָּהָ֥ל assembly haq·qā·hāl לְהָמִ֛ית to death ! ” lə·hā·mîṯ Exodus 16:4 יְהוָה֙ Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses , mō·šeh הִנְנִ֨י “ Behold , hin·nî מַמְטִ֥יר I will rain down mam·ṭîr לֶ֖חֶם bread le·ḥem מִן־ from min- הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם heaven haš·šā·mā·yim לָכֶ֛ם for you . lā·ḵem י֣וֹם Each day yō·wm בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ . . . bə·yō·w·mōw הָעָ֤ם the people hā·‘ām וְיָצָ֨א are to go out wə·yā·ṣā וְלָֽקְטוּ֙ and gather wə·lā·qə·ṭū דְּבַר־ enough for that day . də·ḇar- לְמַ֧עַן In this way lə·ma·‘an
