ס֔וּף from the Red sūp̄ מִיַּם־ Sea , mî·yam- וַיֵּצְא֖וּ and they went out way·yê·ṣə·’ū אֶל־ into ’el- מִדְבַּר־ the Desert miḏ·bar- שׁ֑וּר of Shur . šūr שְׁלֹֽשֶׁת־ For three šə·lō·šeṯ- יָמִ֛ים days yā·mîm וַיֵּלְכ֧וּ they walked way·yê·lə·ḵū בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר in the desert bam·miḏ·bār וְלֹא־ without wə·lō- מָ֥צְאוּ finding mā·ṣə·’ū מָֽיִם׃ water . mā·yim Exodus 15:23 וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ And when they came way·yā·ḇō·’ū מָרָ֔תָה to Marah , mā·rā·ṯāh יָֽכְל֗וּ they could yā·ḵə·lū וְלֹ֣א not wə·lō לִשְׁתֹּ֥ת drink liš·tōṯ מַ֙יִם֙ the water ma·yim מִמָּרָ֔ה [there] mim·mā·rāh כִּ֥י because kî הֵ֑ם it hêm מָרִ֖ים was bitter . mā·rîm עַל־ ( That is why ‘al- כֵּ֥ן . . . kên קָרָֽא־ it was named qā·rā- שְׁמָ֖הּ . . . šə·māh מָרָֽה׃ Marah . ) mā·rāh Exodus 15:24 הָעָ֛ם So the people hā·‘ām וַיִּלֹּ֧נוּ grumbled way·yil·lō·nū עַל־ against ‘al- מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses , mō·šeh לֵּאמֹ֖ר saying , lê·mōr מַה־ “ What mah- נִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃ are we to drink ? ” niš·teh Exodus 15:25 וַיִּצְעַ֣ק And [Moses] cried out way·yiṣ·‘aq אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֗ה YHWH , Yah·weh יְהוָה֙ and YHWH Yah·weh וַיּוֹרֵ֤הוּ showed him way·yō·w·rê·hū עֵ֔ץ a log . ‘êṣ וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ֙ And when he cast it way·yaš·lêḵ אֶל־ into ’el- הַמַּ֔יִם the waters , ham·ma·yim הַמָּ֑יִם [they] ham·mā·yim וַֽיִּמְתְּק֖וּ were sweetened . way·yim·tə·qū שָׁ֣ם There šām שָׂ֥ם [YHWH] made śām ל֛וֹ for them lōw חֹ֥ק a statute ḥōq וּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט and an ordinance , ū·miš·pāṭ וְשָׁ֥ם and there wə·šām נִסָּֽהוּ׃ He tested them , nis·sā·hū Exodus 15:26 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ saying , way·yō·mer אִם־ “ If ’im- שָׁמ֨וֹעַ you will listen carefully šā·mō·w·a‘ תִּשְׁמַ֜ע . . . tiš·ma‘ לְק֣וֹל׀ to the voice lə·qō·wl יְהוָ֣ה of YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ your God , ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā תַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה and do ta·‘ă·śeh וְהַיָּשָׁ֤ר what is right wə·hay·yā·šār בְּעֵינָיו֙ in His eyes , bə·‘ê·nāw וְהַֽאֲזַנְתָּ֙ and pay attention wə·ha·’ă·zan·tā לְמִצְוֺתָ֔יו to His commands , lə·miṣ·wō·ṯāw וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֖ and keep wə·šā·mar·tā כָּל־ all kāl- חֻקָּ֑יו His statutes , ḥuq·qāw לֹא־ [then] I will not lō- שַׂ֤מְתִּי bring śam·tî עָלֶ֔יךָ on you ‘ā·le·ḵā כָּֽל־ any kāl- הַמַּֽחֲלָ֞ה of the diseases ham·ma·ḥă·lāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אָשִׂ֣ים I inflicted ’ā·śîm בְמִצְרַ֙יִם֙ on the Egyptians . ḇə·miṣ·ra·yim כִּ֛י For kî אֲנִ֥י I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֖ה am YHWH Yah·weh רֹפְאֶֽךָ׃ס who heals you . ” rō·p̄ə·’e·ḵā Exodus 15:27 וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ Then they came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֵילִ֔מָה to Elim , ’ê·li·māh וְשָׁ֗ם where wə·šām שְׁתֵּ֥ים there were twelve šə·têm עֶשְׂרֵ֛ה . . . ‘eś·rêh
