שֹׁדְדִ֛ים the destroyers šō·ḏə·ḏîm מֵאִתִּ֗י I send mê·’it·tî יָבֹ֧אוּ will come yā·ḇō·’ū לָ֖הּ against her , ” lāh נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָֽה׃ס YHWH . Yah·weh Jeremiah 51:54 ק֥וֹל “ The sound qō·wl זְעָקָ֖ה of a cry zə·‘ā·qāh מִבָּבֶ֑ל [comes from] Babylon , mib·bā·ḇel גָּד֖וֹל the sound of great gā·ḏō·wl וְשֶׁ֥בֶר destruction wə·še·ḇer מֵאֶ֥רֶץ from the land mê·’e·reṣ כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃ of the Chaldeans ! kaś·dîm Jeremiah 51:55 כִּֽי־ For kî- יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שֹׁדֵ֤ד will destroy šō·ḏêḏ בָּבֶ֔ל Babylon ; bā·ḇel וְאִבַּ֥ד He will silence wə·’ib·baḏ מִמֶּ֖נָּה . . . mim·men·nāh גָּד֑וֹל her mighty gā·ḏō·wl ק֣וֹל voice . qō·wl גַלֵּיהֶם֙ The waves ḡal·lê·hem וְהָמ֤וּ will roar wə·hā·mū רַבִּ֔ים like great rab·bîm כְּמַ֣יִם waters ; kə·ma·yim שְׁא֖וֹן the tumult šə·’ō·wn קוֹלָֽם׃ of their voices qō·w·lām נִתַּ֥ן will resound . nit·tan Jeremiah 51:56 כִּי֩ For kî שׁוֹדֵ֔ד a destroyer šō·w·ḏêḏ בָ֨א is coming ḇā עָלֶ֤יהָ against her — ‘ā·le·hā עַל־ against ‘al- בָּבֶל֙ Babylon . bā·ḇel גִּבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ Her warriors gib·bō·w·re·hā וְנִלְכְּדוּ֙ will be captured , wə·nil·kə·ḏū קַשְּׁתוֹתָ֑ם [and] their bows qaš·šə·ṯō·w·ṯām חִתְּתָ֖ה will be broken , ḥit·tə·ṯāh כִּ֣י for kî יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh אֵ֧ל is a God ’êl גְּמֻל֛וֹת of retribution ; gə·mu·lō·wṯ שַׁלֵּ֥ם He will repay in full šal·lêm יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ . . . . yə·šal·lêm Jeremiah 51:57 שָׂרֶ֨יהָ I will make her princes śā·re·hā וַחֲכָמֶ֜יהָ and wise men wa·ḥă·ḵā·me·hā וְ֠הִשְׁכַּרְתִּי drunk , wə·hiš·kar·tî פַּחוֹתֶ֤יהָ along with her governors , pa·ḥō·w·ṯe·hā וּסְגָנֶ֙יהָ֙ officials , ū·sə·ḡā·ne·hā וְגִבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ and warriors . wə·ḡib·bō·w·re·hā וְיָשְׁנ֥וּ Then they will fall asleep wə·yā·šə·nū שְׁנַת־ . . . šə·naṯ- עוֹלָ֖ם forever ‘ō·w·lām וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō יָקִ֑יצוּ wake up , ” yā·qî·ṣū נְאֻ֨ם־ declares nə·’um- הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the King , ham·me·leḵ שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס whose name šə·mōw יְהוָ֥ה is YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Jeremiah 51:58 כֹּֽה־ This is what kōh- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֗וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אָמַ֞ר says : ’ā·mar בָּבֶ֤ל “ Babylon’s bā·ḇel הָֽרְחָבָה֙ thick hā·rə·ḥā·ḇāh חֹ֠מוֹת walls ḥō·mō·wṯ עַרְעֵ֣ר will be leveled ‘ar·‘êr תִּתְעַרְעָ֔ר . . . , tiṯ·‘ar·‘ār הַגְּבֹהִ֖ים and her high hag·gə·ḇō·hîm וּשְׁעָרֶ֥יהָ gates ū·šə·‘ā·re·hā יִצַּ֑תּוּ consumed yiṣ·ṣat·tū בָּאֵ֣שׁ by fire . bā·’êš וְיִֽגְע֨וּ So the labor wə·yiḡ·‘ū עַמִּ֧ים of the people ‘am·mîm בְּדֵי־ vvv bə·ḏê- רִ֛יק will be for nothing ; rîq וּלְאֻמִּ֥ים the nations ū·lə·’um·mîm בְּדֵי־ . . . bə·ḏê- וְיָעֵֽפוּ׃ס will exhaust themselves wə·yā·‘ê·p̄ū אֵ֖שׁ to fuel the flames . ” ’êš
