וְהָיְתָ֥ה will become wə·hā·yə·ṯāh לְשַׁמָּ֑ה an object of horror . lə·šam·māh כֹּ֚ל All kōl עֹבֵ֣ר who pass ‘ō·ḇêr עָלֶ֔יהָ by ‘ā·le·hā יִשֹּׁ֥ם will be appalled yiš·šōm וְיִשְׁרֹ֖ק and will scoff wə·yiš·rōq עַל־ at ‘al- כָּל־ all kāl- מַכּוֹתֶֽהָ׃ her wounds . mak·kō·w·ṯe·hā Jeremiah 49:18 סְדֹ֧ם As Sodom sə·ḏōm וַעֲמֹרָ֛ה and Gomorrah wa·‘ă·mō·rāh כְּֽמַהְפֵּכַ֞ת were overthrown kə·mah·pê·ḵaṯ וּשְׁכֵנֶ֖יהָ along with their neighbors ,” ū·šə·ḵê·ne·hā אָמַ֣ר says ’ā·mar יְהוָ֑ה YHWH , Yah·weh לֹֽא־ “ no lō- אִ֔ישׁ one ’îš יֵשֵׁ֥ב will dwell yê·šêḇ שָׁם֙ there ; šām וְלֹֽא־ no wə·lō- בֶּן־ man ben- אָדָֽם׃ . . . ’ā·ḏām יָג֥וּר will abide yā·ḡūr בָּ֖הּ there . bāh Jeremiah 49:19 הִ֠נֵּה Behold , hin·nêh יַעֲלֶ֨ה one will come up ya·‘ă·leh כְּאַרְיֵ֞ה like a lion kə·’ar·yêh מִגְּא֣וֹן from the thickets mig·gə·’ō·wn הַיַּרְדֵּן֮ of the Jordan hay·yar·dên אֶל־ to ’el- נְוֵ֣ה the watered pasture . nə·wêh אֵיתָן֒ . . . ’ê·ṯān כִּֽי־ For kî- אַרְגִּ֤יעָה in an instant ’ar·gî·‘āh אֲרִיצֶ֨נּוּ I will chase [Edom] ’ă·rî·ṣen·nū מֵֽעָלֶ֔יהָ from [her land] . mê·‘ā·le·hā וּמִ֥י Who ū·mî בָח֖וּר is the chosen one ḇā·ḥūr אֶפְקֹ֑ד I will appoint ’ep̄·qōḏ אֵלֶ֣יהָ for this ? ’ê·le·hā כִּ֣י For kî מִ֤י who mî כָמ֙וֹנִי֙ is like Me , ḵā·mō·w·nî וּמִ֣י and who ū·mî יֹעִידֶ֔נִּי can challenge Me ? yō·‘î·ḏen·nî וּמִי־ What ū·mî- זֶ֣ה . . . zeh רֹעֶ֔ה shepherd rō·‘eh אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יַעֲמֹ֖ד can stand ya·‘ă·mōḏ לְפָנָֽי׃ס against Me ?” lə·p̄ā·nāy Jeremiah 49:20 לָכֵ֞ן Therefore lā·ḵên שִׁמְע֣וּ hear šim·‘ū עֲצַת־ the plans ‘ă·ṣaṯ- אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ’ă·šer יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh יָעַץ֙ has drawn up yā·‘aṣ אֶל־ against ’el- אֱד֔וֹם Edom ’ĕ·ḏō·wm וּמַ֨חְשְׁבוֹתָ֔יו and the strategies ū·maḥ·šə·ḇō·w·ṯāw אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer חָשַׁ֖ב He has devised ḥā·šaḇ אֶל־ against ’el- יֹשְׁבֵ֣י the people yō·šə·ḇê תֵימָ֑ן of Teman : ṯê·mān אִם־ Surely ’im- לֹ֤א - lō צְעִירֵ֣י the little ones ṣə·‘î·rê הַצֹּ֔אן of the flock haṣ·ṣōn יִסְחָבוּם֙ will be dragged away ; yis·ḥā·ḇūm אִם־ certainly ’im- לֹ֥א - lō נְוֵהֶֽם׃ their pasture nə·wê·hem יַשִּׁ֛ים will be made desolate yaš·šîm עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם because of them . ‘ă·lê·hem Jeremiah 49:21 מִקּ֣וֹל At the sound miq·qō·wl נִפְלָ֔ם of their fall nip̄·lām הָאָ֑רֶץ the earth hā·’ā·reṣ רָעֲשָׁ֖ה will quake ; rā·‘ă·šāh צְעָקָ֕ה their cry ṣə·‘ā·qāh נִשְׁמַ֥ע will resound niš·ma‘ קוֹלָֽהּ׃ . . . qō·w·lāh ס֖וּף to the Red sūp̄ בְּיַם־ Sea . bə·yam-
