כִּ֣י for kî שֻׁדָּ֔דָה it will be devastated . šud·dā·ḏāh קִרְיָתָ֑יִם Kiriathaim qir·yā·ṯā·yim נִלְכְּדָ֖ה will be captured nil·kə·ḏāh הֹבִ֥ישָׁה and disgraced ; hō·ḇî·šāh הַמִּשְׂגָּ֖ב the fortress ham·miś·gāḇ וָחָֽתָּה׃ will be shattered wā·ḥāt·tāh הֹבִ֥ישָׁה and dismantled . hō·ḇî·šāh Jeremiah 48:2 אֵ֣ין There is no ’ên עוֹד֮ longer ‘ō·wḏ תְּהִלַּ֣ת praise tə·hil·laṯ מוֹאָב֒ for Moab ; mō·w·’āḇ בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן in Heshbon bə·ḥeš·bō·wn חָשְׁב֤וּ they devise ḥā·šə·ḇū רָעָ֔ה evil rā·‘āh עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ against her : ‘ā·le·hā לְכ֖וּ ‘ Come , lə·ḵū וְנַכְרִיתֶ֣נָּה let us cut her off wə·naḵ·rî·ṯen·nāh מִגּ֑וֹי from nationhood . ’ mig·gō·w גַּם־ You too , gam- מַדְמֵ֣ן O [people of] Madmen , maḏ·mên תִּדֹּ֔מִּי will be silenced ; tid·dōm·mî חָֽרֶב׃ the sword ḥā·reḇ אַחֲרַ֖יִךְ will pursue ’a·ḥă·ra·yiḵ תֵּ֥לֶךְ you . tê·leḵ Jeremiah 48:3 ק֥וֹל A voice qō·wl צְעָקָ֖ה cries out ṣə·‘ā·qāh מֵחֹֽרוֹנָ֑יִם from Horonaim : mê·ḥō·rō·w·nā·yim שֹׁ֖ד ‘ Devastation šōḏ גָּדֽוֹל׃ and great gā·ḏō·wl וָשֶׁ֥בֶר destruction ! ’ wā·še·ḇer Jeremiah 48:4 מוֹאָ֑ב Moab mō·w·’āḇ הִשְׁמִ֥יעוּ . . . hiš·mî·‘ū נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה will be shattered ; niš·bə·rāh צְעוֹרֶיהָ׃ her little ṣə·ʿō·rɛ·hå̄ זְּעָקָ֖ה ones will cry out . zə·‘ā·qāh Jeremiah 48:5 כִּ֚י For kî מַעֲלֵ֣ה on the ascent ma·‘ă·lêh הַלֻּחוֹת to Luhith hal·lu·ḥōṯ בֶּ֑כִי they weep be·ḵî בִּבְכִ֖י bitterly biḇ·ḵî יַֽעֲלֶה־ as they go , ya·‘ă·leh- כִּ֚י and kî בְּמוֹרַ֣ד on the descent bə·mō·w·raḏ חוֹרֹנַ֔יִם to Horonaim ḥō·w·rō·na·yim צַֽעֲקַת־ cries ṣa·‘ă·qaṯ- צָרֵ֥י of distress ṣā·rê שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ resound šā·mê·‘ū שֶׁ֖בֶר over the destruction : še·ḇer Jeremiah 48:6 נֻ֖סוּ ‘ Flee ! nu·sū מַלְּט֣וּ Run mal·lə·ṭū נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם for your lives ! nap̄·šə·ḵem וְתִֽהְיֶ֕ינָה Become wə·ṯih·ye·nāh כַּעֲרוֹעֵ֖ר like a juniper ka·‘ă·rō·w·‘êr בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ in the desert . ’ bam·miḏ·bār Jeremiah 48:7 כִּ֠י - kî יַ֣עַן Because ya·‘an בִּטְחֵ֤ךְ you trust biṭ·ḥêḵ בְּמַעֲשַׂ֙יִךְ֙ in your works bə·ma·‘ă·śa·yiḵ וּבְא֣וֹצְרוֹתַ֔יִךְ and treasures , ū·ḇə·’ō·wṣ·rō·w·ṯa·yiḵ אַ֖תְּ you ’at גַּם־ too gam- תִּלָּכֵ֑דִי will be captured , til·lā·ḵê·ḏî כְמִישׁ and Chemosh ḵə·mīš וְיָצָ֤א will go wə·yā·ṣā בַּגּוֹלָ֔ה into exile bag·gō·w·lāh יַחַד׃ with ya·ḥaḏ כֹּהֲנָ֥יו his priests kō·hă·nāw וְשָׂרָ֖יו and officials . wə·śā·rāw Jeremiah 48:8 שֹׁדֵ֜ד The destroyer šō·ḏêḏ וְיָבֹ֨א will move wə·yā·ḇō אֶל־ against ’el- כָּל־ every kāl- עִ֗יר city , ‘îr לֹ֣א and not lō וְעִיר֙ one town wə·‘îr תִמָּלֵ֔ט will escape . ṯim·mā·lêṭ הָעֵ֖מֶק The valley hā·‘ê·meq וְאָבַ֥ד will also be ruined , wə·’ā·ḇaḏ
