אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer פְּרָ֖ת on the Euphrates pə·rāṯ נְהַר־ River nə·har- נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּר֙ by Nebuchadnezzar nə·ḇū·ḵaḏ·reṣ·ṣar מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon bā·ḇel הָֽרְבִיעִ֔ית in the fourth hā·rə·ḇî·‘îṯ בִּשְׁנַת֙ year biš·naṯ לִיהוֹיָקִ֥ים of Jehoiakim lî·hō·w·yā·qîm בֶּן־ the son ben- יֹאשִׁיָּ֖הוּ of Josiah yō·šî·yā·hū מֶ֥לֶךְ king me·leḵ יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah : yə·hū·ḏāh Jeremiah 46:3 עִרְכ֤וּ “ Deploy ‘ir·ḵū מָגֵן֙ your shields, small mā·ḡên וְצִנָּ֔ה and large ; wə·ṣin·nāh וּגְשׁ֖וּ advance ū·ḡə·šū לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ for battle ! lam·mil·ḥā·māh Jeremiah 46:4 אִסְר֣וּ Harness ’is·rū הַסּוּסִ֗ים the horses ; has·sū·sîm וַֽעֲלוּ֙ mount wa·‘ă·lū הַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים the steeds ; hap·pā·rā·šîm וְהִֽתְיַצְּב֖וּ take your positions wə·hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣə·ḇū בְּכ֥וֹבָעִ֑ים with helmets on ! bə·ḵō·w·ḇā·‘îm מִרְקוּ֙ Polish mir·qū הָֽרְמָחִ֔ים your spears ; hā·rə·mā·ḥîm לִבְשׁ֖וּ put on liḇ·šū הַסִּרְיֹנֹֽת׃ armor ! has·sir·yō·nōṯ Jeremiah 46:5 מַדּ֣וּעַ Why mad·dū·a‘ רָאִ֗יתִי am I seeing this? rā·’î·ṯî הֵ֣מָּה They hêm·māh חַתִּים֮ are terrified , ḥat·tîm נְסֹגִ֣ים they are retreating nə·sō·ḡîm אָחוֹר֒ . . . ; ’ā·ḥō·wr וְגִבּוֹרֵיהֶ֣ם their warriors wə·ḡib·bō·w·rê·hem יֻכַּ֔תּוּ are defeated , yuk·kat·tū וּמָנ֥וֹס they flee ū·mā·nō·ws נָ֖סוּ in haste nā·sū וְלֹ֣א without wə·lō הִפְנ֑וּ looking back ; hip̄·nū מָג֥וֹר terror mā·ḡō·wr מִסָּבִ֖יב is on every side ! ” mis·sā·ḇîḇ נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH . Yah·weh Jeremiah 46:6 הַקַּ֔ל “ The swift haq·qal אַל־ cannot ’al- יָנ֣וּס flee , yā·nūs הַגִּבּ֑וֹר and the warrior hag·gib·bō·wr וְאַל־ cannot wə·’al- יִמָּלֵ֖ט escape ! yim·mā·lêṭ צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ In the north ṣā·p̄ō·w·nāh עַל־ by ‘al- יַ֣ד . . . yaḏ נְהַר־ the River nə·har- פְּרָ֔ת Euphrates pə·rāṯ כָּשְׁל֖וּ they stumble kā·šə·lū וְנָפָֽלוּ׃ and fall . wə·nā·p̄ā·lū Jeremiah 46:7 מִי־ Who mî- זֶ֖ה is this , zeh יַֽעֲלֶ֑ה rising ya·‘ă·leh כַּיְאֹ֣ר like the Nile , kay·’ōr כַּנְּהָר֕וֹת like rivers kan·nə·hā·rō·wṯ מֵימָֽיו׃ whose waters mê·māw יִֽתְגָּעֲשׁ֖וּ churn ? yiṯ·gā·‘ă·šū Jeremiah 46:8 מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ Egypt miṣ·ra·yim יַֽעֲלֶ֔ה rises ya·‘ă·leh כַּיְאֹ֣ר like the Nile , kay·’ōr מָ֑יִם and its waters mā·yim יִתְגֹּ֣עֲשׁוּ churn yiṯ·gō·‘ă·šū וְכַנְּהָר֖וֹת like rivers , wə·ḵan·nə·hā·rō·wṯ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר boasting , way·yō·mer אַֽעֲלֶה֙ ‘ I will rise ’a·‘ă·leh אֲכַסֶּה־ and cover ’ă·ḵas·seh- אֶ֔רֶץ the earth ; ’e·reṣ אֹבִ֥ידָה I will destroy ’ō·ḇî·ḏāh עִ֖יר the cities ‘îr וְיֹ֥שְׁבֵי and their people .’ wə·yō·šə·ḇê בָֽהּ׃ ḇāh Jeremiah 46:9 עֲל֤וּ Advance , ‘ă·lū
